Those peppers are also loaded with fibre (keep the skins on) and Vitamin C. Make sure you get diet tonic, oddly enough, tonic water is usually loaded with carbs. You can also get lower carb wine, which is also often lower in alcohol. In Australia we have wine called Early Harvest and the grapes are picked early, to reduce…

You might be sensitive to the glycerine. Real labels, it's fairly easy to avoid. You may be okay with it in smaller amounts, bars tend to have a lot in them.

Nope, you'd likely get scurvy or any other number of nutrition deficit problems. Must eat real food :) however it doesn't mean you can't still have them as a snack.

I'm not sure if it's the same in Australia as elsewhere, but Subway salads and Nando's chicken salads work for me. Watch the meats at Subway, not all of them are low carb.

I've seen a lot of whacky claims about apple cider vinegar and some of them are just weird. I'd like to know if anyone has had any changes from adding this to their intake.

Some people are still scared of fat and eat way too much protein to compensate. There's only so many things in food: carbs, fibre, water, protein and fat. Getting used to eating more fat is mostly a mental challenge (most of the younger generations have been raised in a low fat world) our bodies like it just fine and it…

I agree on the butter and cream :) If you have a really high fat cheese locally, these can be good too.

Dana Carpender has really great recipe books too, lots of simple recipes and most of them are not too fiddly.

Pumpkin or carrots in your meal prior might give you a little kick :)

If you like the idea of low carb noodles but the fishy taste/smell freaks you out, there are new brands available now that avoid all that. Miracle Noodle and SlimPasta have no smell. You need to cook the noodles for food safety (just like many other preserved goods). Don't eat more than the portion size as they are full of…

It's not a ready made juice, but if you like citrus, TrueLemon comes in Lemon, Lime and Orange (plus Lemonade versions). I like the Orange in boiling water (orange tea).

Bump for the fibre article --> see previous post

I didn't bother buying the new book, as the old one is just fine. Secondhand copies are usually very cheap too, if you don't have one. Aside from the product placement, if you're losing on the new one, don't switch, but if you're struggling, go back to the original. If you're after meal ideas, Dana Carpender has great…

Make sure it's a healthy coconut oil, ones like Copha are not okay :) Use it like regular oil. It goes liquid when it's warm, so keeping it in the fridge will make it go solid.

In order: Hazelnut (Nutella lovers, this is damn good even without chocolate), Macadamia and Peanut

I'm just about finished on two weeks of Induction and my health has improved dramatically. I think I had lost a lot of muscle on the VLCD I was on, and my muscles are almost back to normal now, after two weeks of good protein. I haven't lost as much weight as I expected, but I think the muscle may account for that. My…

lol I DID make two kilos, they were on sale and short expiry, so time limit was more of a factor.

I think there's a few different kinds of sabotage, some of them are even well meaning. 1. Fear - this is the partners or friends who are afraid you'll "leave them behind" or fear you are planning right now to leave/upgrade. These ones need a good talking to, and some reassurance. It's good to point out that being…

Sorry for the silly question, but how do you post pictures in here? html ?

Thanks everyone. I rarely fry things, but might try frying these if I can borrow a fryer. Ander, that's almost exactly the way I made them, they come out great! Any ideas for leftover wings? I couldn't eat them all in time and couldn't think of anything to do with the leftovers. I'll stick to smaller batches I think.

I've going to divide this into 8, I hope that's right.

I haven't had it, but have heard rave reviews about trout wrapped in chicken skin, one day I might give it a try, although salmon and bacon sounds much easier :)
-
I've decided to divide this into 8 servings. If I'm doing the wrong thing, can you let me know?

Aside from no sugar, what kind of calories/carbs/fat should I be looking for in a store bought salsa? I used to love Old El Paso Medium Salsa.

I'm a big fan of the True Lemonade, but might be too tart for some. I like both the Lemon and Raspberry flavour. I tend to drink it more watered down than the directions. About 1.25 litres instead of 1 litre. I haven't tried it yet, but hoping it can be made into popsicles (icypoles).

if you want to keep the fruit, try the lower carb berries

These look great!

If you miss sausage, find a recipe to tweak and make your own.

If you like chinese, cook it with pork mince, ginger, garlic, soy sauce and chilli, when it's all looking cooked, add a little chicken stock and cook until it's not saucy. Great hot or cold in lettuce cups.

You are not the only one, I've just returned to Atkins and I completely forgot how much better my arthritis is on low carb. For the interested, Dana Carpender (Low Carb Cookbook Author) has written some interesting articles on gelatin (including joint improvement). I'm thinking on either adding it in to my diet or eating…
