Edited to add... And how often should I test my 1 rep max????

We're TWINS...sort of. I'm a couple inches shorter and have gone through the SAME thing. I JUST posted a super-similar question. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/723717-setting-weight-lifitng-goals

That's hard work paying off. Way to go!

I started taking kettlebell classes. The instructor is a competitive powerlifter. I've hired him for a few private sessions so that he can show me good form. Then, I'm just going to strut (okay, delicately walk) into that weight section in the gym and do what all those boys did at one point or another: Fake it (safely)…

Don't feel bad at all. In fact, read "I See Rude People" by Amy Alkon. 1) You'll laugh. 2) You'll recognize how polite you actually were.

Check out this group on MFP: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/3834-eat-more-to-weigh-less Lots of good reading there on how to avoid metabolism damage by eating so little. And how to still lose weight! :)

I highly recommend checking out the Eating More to Weigh Less group on here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/3834-eat-more-to-weigh-less After eating less than my BMR for a couple years, I did damage to my metabolism that is going to take time to fix. Unless you're being monitored by a physician, I would recommend…

This ^^^^ I'm five feet tall and 119 pounds. I was eating 1200 cals/day for a LONG time. It help me lose weight for a little while, but it ended up being a bad decision in the end. I couldn't lose the last 10 pounds (plateau) I gained weight (in the form of FAT) easily I couldn't have ONE bad day without gaining weight I…

Welcome! I'm a shorty too: 5 feet tall, and I know that feeling exactly! The good news is, if we're all crazy and wrong, you can always go back to starving...but if we're not, you WIN :) Take a deep breath and know that the experience is worth it. Food (and life!) are too good to miss!

A year ago I could do 4 pull ups in a row, unassisted. 4 doesn't sound like a huge number, but it was HUGE progress for me. I gained the strength while doing P90x. The rest of those workouts aside, the way they teach pull-ups works (and is in line with Joe). I used a "pull up" bar that went in the frame of my doorway (I…

Ah, that's a good approach! I think I'll try that and see how it goes!

Sounds like you're going to be STARVING now that you're used to eating more! :)
-
Yea, I was thinking that as long as my workouts are consistent, I should really only worry about my total weekly intake. Figured there might be some pros/cons to my metabolism as far as expecting the same amount of fuel every day. Sometime my analytical side gets the best of me.

Rest, girlfriend. When even your job includes regular workouts, you deserve to take a week and do only what you feel like. Your body will probably thank you for it!

Great workout!

Totally interested, but I don't do it...yet.

I think the "and do both super well" is so true! Since it's a Sprint Tri, I'm not going to kill myself for an awesome time, just seeing if I like it really. I won't be able to started lifting until the week after next anyway (family in town and you KNOW starting something when you have guests is a no go.) I'll probably err…
-
True...it's not like I will have worked up to anything super heavy by then anyway.

Almost a month into EM2WL and the initial 1 to 1.5 pound gain (which happened to come at the same time as TOM...so who knows what really caused the gain) is gone. I'm giving it a few more weeks before I take measurements again, but so far, my biggest fear - gaining a BUNCH of weight from upping my calories - has not come…

Sweet. Thanks folks!

Same here, 1300-1700 about a week ago. Jumped on the scale last night and weighed about the same that I do most evenings (always less in the mornings, right out of bed with no clothes, haha!). I told myself I'm not taking my scale seriously for another few weeks. We'll see.... :)

Ditto. I'm new to this whole thing, and now that I'm up to 1600-1700 from 1200 daily, I'm always hungry. Learned a new lesson though: Have to stock my kitchen with more healthy foods than normal, because once I go through them, anything is game!

Awesome!!!!!!!!

^ This Intermittent fasting of either the Eat Stop Eat (ESE) variety or the Leangains variety have been studied heavily and have many benefits if it's up your alley. Any intermittent faster who knows what they're doing would never tell say it's a good idea to go 3 days without food, especially on a regular basis. It's all…

I'm 5feet tall and 116 pounds. I ate at 1200 calories or less for a long time, got to this weight, and keep gaining and losing the same 5 pounds again. So I joined the group below, did some reading, and upped my calories! :) http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/3817-eat-more-to-weigh-less

I used this calculator http://bwsimulator.niddk.nih.gov/ and compared it to Scooby's...GOOD NEWS, got nearly the same numbers for BMR, etc. This makes me feel better that I'm in the right calorie range!
-
SWEET, that's SO less complicated than I was making it!

Okay, day one and I've already confused myself..... Am I supposed to be NETTING these amounts? (For example, today I've eaten 1700 calories. I'm done eating for the day. In a few hours I'm going to go bike ride and burn 500-600 calories...at the end of my bike ride, do I just log the exercise and call it a day? Or and I…

Yay, way to go!
