It may also have to do with your stress level rather than what you are eating. My cholesterol lowered itself drastically when I went off work. Very little change in diet.

Yes I have this. I'm assuming it is shin splints. There is lots of info around here on that topic. Try doing a search and you will come up with lots of useful advice. OK so I read the thread on the link you posted, so maybe not shin splints. Extremely helpful.

You don't have to do a perfect job. Some days will be better than others. You have to forgive yourself when you feel that you've slipped up and make the next meal or the next day a healthier one.

I pour water and dish soap on the ceramic tile floor and send the kids skidding around on it. The have to sit on towels to do this and they get to rinse it all off with water guns and then mop it up. Gets the floor nice and clean and keeps them busy for awhile. Any game that involves cleaning something is good for me.

Just starting on Cipralex and find my self feeling very ho-hum about exercising. Actually I feel that way about everything which is a huge change from my normal stressed out self so I suppose it is working the way it is supposed to. I think I'll have to be more intentional about diet and exercise and maybe get an…

You did it before and you can again. You have the tools and knowledge. Sitting around and feeling miserable won't get you to your goals. Forgive yourself for messing up and move forward one step at time.

Being in Canada we already had our Thanksgiving, but I could rant about various things. This year I found a way to solve all problems with undesirable behaviour from certain parties. I invited a couple of single friends who no one else really knew. Everyone was on their best behaviour. My fam and inlaws are decent people…

Way to go! Thanks for posting the verse from Galatians. Very fitting.

Some one posted about this awhile back and there was a link to a website with some good advice. Sorry I can't find it just now. The best thing that has worked for me is toe lifts, and making sure to stretch lots, before and after walking or running. OK here is the link…

I'm in the same boat as far as emotional eating goes. I've also had the experience of a spouse who was out of work for an extended period and returned to work to a job that was less than what was expected. It was rough, really rough. As far as coping without using food as medication I've been working at that myself and…

A 10 minute run is HUGE! Good for you.

Hmmm, sounds doable (I checked out the diet plan). But seems more like a gimmick than anything else. All you are really doing is restricting calories. Please let us know how it goes and if you experience weight gain after the three days when you return to your normal eating pattern. I think you probably will gain back at…

Thanks for the info. I will check it out.

That depends entirely on what is in the cereal. I don't eat most cereals because of added salt and sugar, but there are some brands have good amounts of protein and fibre and not too much sugar. You have to be really careful to read the labels and watch the serving sizes.

Good for you for getting real with yourself. In ten years you are going to thank yourself for this, believe me.

Check out some Seventh Day Adventist cook books. There are some yummy things.

I didn't find your post patronizing at all. You really nailed it, I am an avoider. I hate confrontation of any kind and I bury my feelings instead of expressing them because I don't want to disrupt the surface of the pond so to speak. Outward harmony has been more important to me than inner peace. I also struggle with…

Just doing the math, you started serious dieting st 13!? You really have been on this merry-go-round for awhile. The good news is you are still young and getting fit will be so much easier now than later on.

Thanks for that. It is so true. I promise my self every day that I'll do my best for that day and not let past mistakes weigh me down. That has been a lot easier said than done over the past two weeks, but I needed a reminder.

Oh ouch! I did the same thing about 18 months ago. Not while holding a child. You must have been completely shocked and scared. Thank goodness your baby is OK and you have nothing broken.

I have been known to resort to using paper plates for awhile when the dish doing got to be too much.

I was thinking of asking the same question. The only thing I can think to do besides indulging in poor eating habits ( either not eating at all or binging on chocolate) would be to have a long chat with one of my sisters or go for a walk.

Woo Hoo!!!

Now I want a peanut butter sandwich - nom nom nom I am also one who as great difficulty working from home. Way to many distractions.

That's fantastic! Congratulations.

I believe that "real" or "whole" is referring to foods that are not heavily processed and closer to the form in which you would find them out in nature. For example, an apple is a whole food whereas apple sauce with bunch of added sugar and citric acid to sweeten it up and preserve it, is not. Apple juice with all the…

You shoukd be so proud of your success so far. I hope you can continue with great results :)

Ahh, you all have me crying over here. OK , so this isn't about me, but it fits right in with the topic. This past August, my daughter ran in her first Triathlon. The different age groups were staggered start so while we waited for our girl to come down the final stretch there were a pile of younger kids running to the…

I have four nephews who are diagnosed with various autism spectrum disorders. The are all completely different with various levels of functionality. Having a child with autism is really challenging. My littlest has Down syndrome and I think it much easier to deal with.
