Half Way to Goal #1
Yeah for me. As of today I'm half way to Goal #1, which is losing 10% of my body weight. Hoping that will help lower my cholesterol level before my next yearly physical.

NSV - Can't Breath!
I am very worried about my 6 year old. We are taking her for bloodwork. I saw the order and what was on it has me feeling like I can't breath right now. Why is that an NSV...because instead of running to the cupboard for chocolate or chips I'm longing to get to the gym and work up a sweat or do some yoga.

Stress vs. Fudge
I'm struggling right now. My MIL sent over fudge and cookies today. I did have some, just a little and they are so good, but I was able to stop and put the containers back. Now that the kids are in bed and I have some free tome to myself the fudge is calling me. Doesn't help that I'm stressed right now. I've discovered…

Blood Pressure?
Does anyone know how accurate those blood pressure monitors at the local pharmacy are? You know the ones I mean, where you sit on the bench and put your arm in the sleeve? Last week it measured my BP much lower than I expected, 109/45 with a pulse of 57. I typically have a BP in the range of 120/60 with a pulse of 90, but…

Mind Shift - Winter Running
I've been sitting on the couch under my blanket trying to keep warm for the past week while the snow piled up, got rained away, and piled up again (also nursing a terrible cold). All this time I was feeling very demotivated about continuing running and thinking of how cold my poor feet would get. Today I got up and walked…

Running on my toes
Hi all. Upon reading some other posts here I am informed that I should be landing full foot rather than on toes, which is information I gleaned elsewhere. Which is correct? Is one way better and why?

Coping Without Using Food as Medication
Like many others food is my go to when I'm sad or angry or stressed. Since starting to loose weight and do exercise my stress level has been steadily mounting. I noticed today that the not so healthy food item I picked up on my way back yo the office from a meeting had an almost instant dampening effect on my anxiety. I…

Half way there
I don't have any progress pictures because I didn't take any until I'd lost about 10 lb, which is my profile shot. Anyway, I'm so pleased to be halfway to my first goal and now under 200 lb - Woo Hoo!!! I was down before but kept bobbing around 199 to 202 so I thought I'd hold off a bit on the celbration. Now I'm down to…

Some advice please
I was wondering if swimming could be helping to increase my arm/shoulder strength at all. I'm concerned about losing muscle mass while restricting calories. I've got to get at the weights but haven't done very much yet, just trying one or two things to see how they go. I'm starting small and working my way up to it. The…

Evening Exercise - When to Eat
I can get time to exercise in the evening usually after 8:30pm when kids are in bed. So for I walk/run (5K) = 1 hr, swim (1/2 hr), or Eliptical (1/2 hr) and I will be starting some minor weight training soon (just starting out and need to learn how before lifting heavier stuff). I'm usually exercising after I'm done eating…

Myth Buster. Is this true?
I would appreciete some informed opinons regarding the following information. So, I've been told that at a certain point in your early 20s, when you are finishing off or finished growing, your body will settle in and get comfortable. According to this theory your weigth and body composition at that time will become a…

CrossFit Kids - Opinions
So, I have come to the conclusion that I am in no shape to do the adult version of CrossFit and am working on learning how to lift weights properly. My trainer (dear husband) thinks it will take me a good long while to learn proper form, like maybe a couple of years (I am a very slow learner when it comes to physical…

Serendipity
The other day my husband noted that his waist has shrunk by about an inch. He had to go to a lower notch on his belt. He is not trying to lose weight or get in shape himself, but is helping me out with leaning how to do weight training. Also the food in the house has changed for the better and I've started him eating…

6 yo sneaking food
My 6 year old daughter has some food issues. She is intollerant to corn and milk and a picky eather to boot. The allergest says she is not actually allergic to anything but that we should stick with the exclusion diet that helped clear up her extreme exema (think so itchy she scratched her whole body raw in her sleep…

What to do
Well, tomorrow is our first day back at the gym after a break to deal with end of summer trips and back to school. My 9 yo daughter is doing her workout with her neuromotive coach and I have to decide if I will sit and watch or get back to doing crossfit. I am very nervous to rejoin the class. I only did it three times…
