iooops. lol give me a bit.

THAT is going to open a whole slew of advice that you don't need at this point.........people are going to argue clean eating versus processed foods, too many carbs, too little protein..........hehe The bottom line is you could be eating just Twinkies and drinking soda and if you are burning more than you take in, you will…

I found this calculator to be accurate on my TDEE and my (doctor tested) BMR to within 50 calories. I am a teacher/engineer so I primarily have a desk job, but I lift heavy 3 days a week, so I set my activity level to "Lightly Active". Give that a go and see what it gives you for TDEE.
-
Ok, I would think you would be fine at TDEE - 20%. You may also want to see your doctor and check your hormone levels, just to make sure there are no problems there, but I would give it at least 6 weeks before I did that (but that is just me). Assuming hormones and thyroid is normal, if you consume less than you burn, you…

I ask, because if your TDEE is right (and it's probably pretty close) you won't be able to lose more than a pound a week without going below your BMR, which you shouldn't do to lose the weight as healthy as possible. A 20% cut from the higher end of your calculated TDEE puts you at 1600 cals a day (which is just shy of a…

How much do you have to lose?
-
100% correct.

Where did you get your "facts"? I am seriously interested in reading any studies that prove this. Because this (http://www.t-nation.com/readArticle.do?id=1526539) is just one of many articles I read that is backed up by many studies that suggest the opposite of what you are saying. In one of the studies, overweight people…

It depends on whether or not you included the exercise when you figured your calorie intake. I figured mine in when calculating my TDEE, so I have the same amount of calories on my workout days as my non-workout days.

Go, dammit! Don't be afraid. What is life if you can't enjoy yourself?

It won't help. People are too lazy to use the search button. But good effort. :)

To be successful in the long run, you're going to have to realize that this takes time and not take drastic measures every time weight loss slows or stops. Technically until you haven't either lost weight or had a change in body composition for at least 6 weeks. You are not plateaued. You can't expect weight loss to be…

Not because I play SWTOR, but because this is me playing SWTOR....

If you are losing weight, you aren't in a plateau. My weight loss goal is 1 pound a month, or 2 pounds in 2 months. I am not in a plateau. Typically a plateau is characterized by NO weight loss or no changes in body composition even though you are trying. If you are wanting to lose more weight, you will need to re-evaluate…

That's gospel right there. Well said Jackson.

No offense taken. My point was that some people get stuck on weight when it is not always the key factor to determining best appearance. To the OP, take a look at this: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2011/07/21/meet-staci-your-new-powerlifting-super-hero/ Maybe that will better explain what I was trying to say. It shows a…

I agree. Stronglifts 5x5

Cardio is better than sitting on the sofa all day, as someone else pointed out, but I would rather lift. If I need cardio, I just don't rest between sets....
-
You are at a healthy weight. Why do you want to lose more? Do you just want to tone? If so, that may not be a matter of losing weight, but more a matter of re-composition. But you also state that you want to be able to eat more and exercise less. If you want toning, it is going to take exercise. Specifically lifting…

Try to throw in some lifting. It is better for fat loss anyway. A warning however......you may find that the scale doesn't change as much as you would think with lifting, however body composition will. You may even find that you like the weight you are at right now with less fat. Or (heaven forbid) you may even like how…

That last nine pounds will likely be the slowest nine pounds. I would definitely set my goal lower. Maybe start at .5 pounds a week.
