Over Christmas I had a Starbucks... Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha. 570 calories and ***76*** g sugar. I almost died on the spot, have not touched Starucks since and probably never will again... It really hit home that not just food can pack a terrific caloric punch.... sigh.

For breakfast, I prebag oatmeal. Little ziploc baggies, I pop in 1/2 cup of quick cook oats, a tablespoon each of wheat germ and ground flaxseed, and cinnamon to taste. Keep it in the fridge. Throw it in a pot in the morning with a cup of boiling water and you have a super healthy breakfast really quick. Check out the…

Congrats! That's awesome! :) I was wondering, how tall are you? I'm 5'8 and still not sure where my weight should be at (I'm 141 right now, which I noticed is where you started at, hence my asking). Rock on! :D

best of luck... my thoughts are with you and yours.

thank you! :) excellent description. tried to explain that, guess I didn't do a very good job.

Go to the Canada Food Guide (I'm Canadian, so if you have a different guide by all means go there :P) and figure out what your recommended daily fruit and carbohydrate intakes are. For me, I should be having 7 portions of fruit daily, about half cup portions, and 6 grain portions. so go nuts on fruit - natural sugar is…

These things happen to the best of us. I lasted thirteen days before crashing and burning... :P Just make it up in the next week, cut back on sweets, or carbs (my binge of choice), whatever, so your WEEKLY average comes out balanced. Or, you could just do some extra exercise. and remember, no one's perfect. as long you…

When I'm angry-stressed, I go to the gym and burn it off. Yay happy endorphins! :) When I'm about-to-fall apart stressed, I plop onto the couch and watch a movie and paint my fingernails. Painting my nails distracts me and keeps me from eating for a while. Plus I'm a stress-related nail biter so it keeps me from biting my…

lol while you are right about volume, it's contradictory to say so while also saying it weighs the same. if you take equal amounts of fat and muscle, the muscle will weigh more; hence, if you have 5 lbs of fat and 5 lbs of muscle, you will have to have more fat than muscle. If they weighed the same, you would have equal…

Definitely start lifting weights! People are often worried about "bulking up" but a) as a woman, that's soo hard to do :P and b) it'll take you at LEAST two months to even see any muscle, even if you lift three times a week, so you don't bulk up overnight. Why lift weights? The more muscle you have, the more calories you…

My new favorite breakfast is a smoothie. grab your blender in the morning and dump in: about a half cup of yogurt 1 tablespoon lemon juice half a cup (with the lemon juice) milk or orange juice or cold green tea 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed 1 tablespoon protein powder (if you have some) 1 cup frozen berries ( i have four…

I'm in Alberta too and I have no intentions of going to the gym today; a) because the roads are dangerous, and b) i spent an hour shoveling this morning haha, I've already got my exercise done :P dang, looks like i have to shovel again... sixty minutes a day isn't really all that much, when you factor in taking the stairs…

Actually, health experts recommend that you eat 1 small square of dark chocolate day. It lowers your blood pressure and it's chock-FULL of antioxidants. YAY! However, milk chocolate remains sugary crap  only dark chocolate has such benefits. just 1 square a day! no more, no less.

I think that's a bit extreme - remember though, that if you burn about 200 calories exercising, you will be eating 200 more calories those days. Mine is telling me to eat 1480 a day, which is barely enough to get all the nutrients I need. You can always raise it a bit - you shouldn't be trying to lose more than two pounds…
