  • I use it and I recommend starting by mixing half and half with mayo at first, the widdle down. Now I mix tuna or egg salad with Greek yogurt and half a ripe avocado. Love! BUT - add salt...I think that is the only thing lacking.
  • For me, I need to eat a bigger lunch and snacks in order to not be so hungry at night. Even if I'm not super hungry in the afternoon, I usually have a good lunch. I've noticed that if I don't eat that much, I starve at night. So, I eat most of my calories before 4 pm. Works for me!
  • I think you should look into upping your calories. I know it's scary - it goes against everything we believe. But, you want to keep your metabolism running strong, and 1,200 is very low, especially if you are doing so much exercise. You will feel better overall and it's pretty easy to do. Add a protein shake after workouts…
  • Popcornolpolis nearly naked popcorn. Best. Snack. Ever. ...this coming from a sweet snack person... Or kale chips!
  • Do you have bountiful baskets in your area? Google it. They offer a HUGE basket of assorted fruits and veggies for $15. It's a co-op and you order on Monday or Tuesday and then go pick up your basket every Saturday or Sunday. There is also another program, can't remember the name off hand, but they sell off the fruits and…
  • Can you open your diary? How many calories do up eat? Right off the bat, I'd say if you are following mfp goals, you might want to up your protein intake and lower your carbs. But, I don't know for sure since I can't see your diary yet. Also, make sure to eat as many fruits and veggies as possible. They help fill you for…
  • I log it under cardio. There is a strength training option that gives you calories burned. I got caught doing what you did at first too.
  • Not buying this year since I'm trying to change my eating habits, but I do love the samoas! Keebler has a look-a-like that is wonderful and available year round. I didn't know this until last year and couldn't believe I had never discovered them!
  • I agree with most of this, just wanted to add that watch labels on cheese, yogurt, other dairy products. Even your whey protein can come from cows treated with hormones. If you get regular milk, try to by hormone free and organic when possible. If it's not labeled to come from hormone free cows, I would not buy it.
  • I buy the Trader Joe's brand unsweetened vanilla almond milk in the refridgerated case (the shelf stable one tastes too raw almondy for me). I love milk but 2% or whole. I did drink 1% but I hate, hate, hate skim. I originally tried almond milk to help lower calories, but I honestly prefer it for cereal and to mix with…
  • Oh, and bread takes awhile if you are used to white. Experiment with different ones. I personally like the "whole grain" labeled breads better than "whole wheat" labeled ones. I'd rather have a bread with seeds in/on it that is made with a little honey. I like the sweetness and heartiness of them - and they also tend to be…
  • You will begin to develop a taste for things. I used to hate avocados when I was a kid, but now, I LOVE them. Some things will just remain on the hated foods list - like for me, it's olives. I've tried to like them...I just can't. My husband is a great example of this - he was a fast food junkie...ate it at least every…
  • I find that if I don't eat enough during the day, I STARVE at dinner time and I will eat much more than I intend to. If I eat good breakfast and lunch, I don't eat a big dinner and I feel just fine. I'm trying to re-learn hunger signals, and it takes a lot of experimenting to find out what works. Journaling your hunger and…
  • I do whole grain toast, 1/2 avocado spread on toast, 2 eggs - scrambled with scallions, red pepers, spinach (whatever veggies I have on hand), and fresh tomato on top. Sometimes, I'll add a slice of cheese on top and broil it. ETA: Just saw the post above and smoke salmon is a great addition to scrambled eggs. Delicious…
  • Yes, but I think the point she was making is how restrictive are you being overall? Today it seems you are having a good amount of food (so it seems from what you said - I don't know portions/calories from what you wrote), but are you creating too much of a calorie deficit over a week, month, years? Binge eating isn't…
  • As a problem eater, this is my advice. It is based on what worked for me. I am a person with lots of food issues. It used to be my comfort and I needed to change that way of thinking: 1) Read Brain over Binge - available on kindle too. Great book. Highly recommend as a starting point. 2) Read and work through books on…
  • I stop eating before 8 pm. Usually, I've eaten dinner aroun 3:30 or 4pm. At around 7:30pm, after working out, I'll have a protein shake. I don't sleep well after eating a large meal and I lose better if I eat a light dinner. I think there are great reasons to stop eating at a certain time, or eat within a "window" (like…
  • Thyroid issues are terrible, aren't they? I know how frustrating this is. Have you had a thyroid scan lately? Do you have any nodules or tumors? Are you still being treated for hyperthyroid? It sounds like you are, I just want to make sure. Any other medical issues? Do you have trouble with missing periods (PCOS symptoms)?…
  • I'm 5'10" and my goal weight is 145 at the moment - just because that is the lowest adult weight I've ever reached, was a size 6/8, and was generally happy with my body. I am going to see how I feel as I go though. Maybe I'll want to lose more? Maybe I won't want to get to 145 (since I do more weight lifting now - maybe…
  • Pop chips and Quaker "quakes" ( rice cakes w/ flavoring). My favorite is popcornolpolis "nearly naked popcorn" - tastes great and is non-GMO and made with coconut oil. 33 cals/ cup. I don't even care for popcorn and I LOVE this. I buy it at Costco.
  • Premier protein has premade shakes w/ 30 g protein and 160 cals. I buy them at Costco. Powder - I buy from Swanson vitamins online - 20 g protein and 90 cals per scoop. I buy the growth hormone free.
  • I don't know if I stalls weight loss, but I'd cut down. A gallon per day is plenty if you are exercising as we'll. 2 -3 liters if not. Do you drink just water or are you counting things like coffee and tea in that total?
  • Your boyfriend sounds unsupportive and immature. I lived with a man like this and it was terrible. He was manipulative and eventually many "behaviors" like this turned into flat out emotional abuse. I'm kind of surprised many people think this is ok behavior. I would never flaunt food in someone's face, whether they were…
  • Well hello! :-) It is weird being "small" framed, but "wide" (no other way to put it...), isn't it? When I was a 6/8 (UK 10/12), my hip bones stuck out a lot - I can't imagine I could get much skinnier than that. My parents thought I was starving myself and I had a few men tell me I was "too thin". I think it's a good…
  • I don't mind anyone that is just there to get their workout in. There is no reason to be self-conscious about going to a gym to get in shape. I admire every person I see who is actually at the gym to get a workout in. However, the people that are craving attention by dancing obnoxiously before class starts (and doing the…
  • I disagree. If he doesn't want to eat the food, he doesn't have to - he's an adult. Men are not incapable of shopping/cooking/picking healthier snacks and women are not the only people that can cook in the house. To the OP - Next time he talks about it, ask if he wants you to help him. Tell him that you know changing…
  • I get a little embarassed because I'm not yet where I want to be and feel uncomfortable "bragging" about any weight lost. I know logically that I'm not bragging, but since I am shy and generally like to go unnoticed, it feels like I am. I mostly hate talking about me. Than being said, I do recognize that it is a nice…
  • I think you are doing well. Your plan seems pretty simple. Are you talking NET cals or total cals? I have a hard time eating my exercise cals back because I'm not sure they are calculated correctly. I usually eat about half of what MFP estimates back depending on hunger (which usually comes the next day). I'm trying to…
  • I realize that you want quick results and it is frustrating waiting to find the right number of calories - trust me, I know - but, I think you need to give it more time. .5 lbs/week (average) is actually great for the amount you have to lose. Also, weight loss is not linear. While some people lose 1-2 lbs/week like clock…
  • Yeah, but how many topics can really be covered on a weight loss board?
