I've been using the polar ft7 (?) for about a week and it's great. It has the chest strap and the watch is red and silver and not too big. It doesn't have the gps b/c like you, I only really needed it for my elliptical and cardio workouts.

Hey...Army wife here of almost 5 yrs. Hubs isn't deployed at the moment. We are stationed in Hawaii. Feel free to add me! I do find I can lose weight so much easier when he's deployed and when he gets back all he wants to do is eat....and so I eat with him and gain...and he doesn't!

I had mine set to lose 2 lbs a week and found out real quick I could not do the 1200 cal a day. Now that I've changed it to 1600 I'm doing much better.
