I used to log as circuit training, but it overestimated calories burned for me at least. Now I use my HRM and log what that says. For one level of the 30 day shred, I usually burn about 170-180--slightly higher for the highest level. I'm 5'3'' 164lbs. Hope that helps!

I burn the most calories running outside according to my HRM. A 40 minute run would burn 500 calories for me.

I think this is spot on! It's so different for everyone I know--so you really need to figure out what works best for you. Set your calories at what you think works best for you (I really like the TDEE -20%), and then give it some time. Bob Harper has some out that do not have a lot of jumping (but some squatting and lunging). I find them easier on the knees than some of Jillian's. The other one that has a lot of kicking and punching (so great cardio) but no squats that I remember are Billy Banks Tae Bo ones...they really helped my problem areas of butt…
