  • Does everyone have to put their adjectives in BIG letters or it just me that has to obey?
  • My post about soda was simply something I had seen in the paper that day. At the time I thought it was relatively on topic in a "diet soda" thread. Obviously not so just simply return to topic and all will be right with the world once again.
  • Well if my post was so off topic, why don't you just return to topic. Problem solved. Dantl (another example of someone denied freedom of speech) has provided plenty of links to keep you busy.
  • Sorry, I don't understand your childish drawing. Please explain it.
  • Not sure where the "toxic fat" bit comes from but it graces our lounge rooms most evenings through the Australian Government Campaign. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pThTr83UWa8
  • I noticed somebody flagged you. Thank you for that whoever you are. :) Herrspoons, I am actually a decent person. By quoting an article from the paper does not make me wrong, or indecent or lacking in humility. Not liking soda does not make me a bad person.
  • On a very basic level, I see no nutritional value in diet soda whatsoever, so why drink the crap.
  • As I said, I quoted the whole ad as written in the paper. It is the same ad that has been televised nationwide for the past year and the words "toxic fat" are used. Apparently it is a joint campaign between the State Government, Heart Foundation and Cancer Council to encourage people to eat well, be physically active and…
  • I quoted from the ad in today's paper. No wording was added by me. It said "NOOO to soda" Diet soda was not mentioned in the ad.
  • Exactly, why would you? In today's paper, there was a full page ad from the World Health Orgainisation, supported by the Heart Foundation and the Cancer Council. "Say NOOO! to soda!" "This week, the World Health Organisation confirmed its new guidelines for sugar. Adults should consume less than 10 teaspoons a day, ideally…
  • Being a part of a conversation as opposed to "searching a topic" are two very different experiences. If there are a million topics on this then perhaps it is because people are interested in the topic. Searching is tedious and people like to feel involved in the subject. As alighterday suggested, we can choose to…
  • Nutrition Tips / February 26, 2015 The Most Dangerous Fat Is the Easiest to Lose It’s every weight loss enthusiast’s dream to zap belly fat but, far from pure vanity, there’s actually a reason why having a lot of fat in the abdominal region can be dangerous. Fat is stored all over our body, but how does an expanding…
  • I actually don't think the tips are all that bad. I have shortened the tip and bolded my thoughts. 1. Never get too hungry - You make poor decisions when your judgment is compromised. Hunger is a primal urge that’s difficult to deny. When you’re famished, it’s hard to hold off until you can find healthy food. As a result,…
  • Welcome gpstreet and good luck with your "lofty goal to drop to below 79kg." I'm betting that with your sense of humour and the health warning to urge you forward you will succeed. Champagne and wine together with a wonderful buffet, sounds like a perfect start to me. :D Now move that soon to be skinny rear end of yours…
  • Oops what happened? Who has been naughty?
  • I was quite happy to let this thread die. I am not going to enter into the global warming issue. Poor OP has long ago lost interest so I will just wish him well and hope he was able to gain something of use out of all of our self indulgence beliefs. For me, I am still - enjoy your 2 - 3 fruit and limit your added sugar.
  • Not a chance!! :D
  • I think you could be right SKIM and I don't think you are just talking about the sugar conversations. :)
  • The fact that so many people are so passionate about the topic shows how important the issue is and it needs to be discussed without too many casualties. So like most of us, I am tiptoeing through that minefield and holding my breath waiting to be blown to pieces. lol
  • MrM27, this is becoming a habit I am not happy with. I agree with you AGAIN!! :o
  • Sorry to hear you have had surgery but I am assuming that you have been unable to exercise because of it. You are a young man who obviously enjoys heavy lifting and cardio and because of that you have "superior aerobic health and strength." Now imagine if this became your normal style of life - not exercising. For many…
  • Traditional bread does not contain sugar. I am not aware that it contains more sugar than a coke but that is irrelevant as homemade bread has no added sugar. Did a quick Google, (no research), and coke has 39grams and white bread has nearly 3grams per slice so a whole loaf possibly does have more added sugar than a can of…
  • Ask me again when you have reached 60 and have gone through menopause, until then it would be difficult to compare our diets and exercise regime. But I will tell you, I have not had a day off work in over 20 years, have never had the flu, get the occasional sniffle and do not get vaccinated, have normal blood pressure and…
  • Too late Herrspoons, you edited it but I saw it. "how's the diet going?" you asked. Tut tut
  • I agree, a little is not a problem.
  • That is so funny. I posted without reading your post. We must have been on the same wavelink at the time as bits are so similar, especially the last line. lol
  • You are wrong Herrspoons, it is not a committee of dieticians but of experienced, highly educated individuals whose credentials are outstanding in the field of medicine. Chair: Barbara Millen, Dr.P.H., R.D. Professor, Department of Family Medicine, Boston University School of Medicine, Boston, MA (through 2009). Dr. Millen…
  • I believe simply eating in a calorie deficit works for weight loss but not for overall good health. Nutrition is so important to our health and should be of upmost importance in any weight loss regime. Anyone, who cuts out Pepsi in their diets should be applauded because what they have done is cut out useless, harmful,…
  • Sounds like what I do as well. Love my Greek yoghurt but always watch out for "added sugars" in any I buy. I am not over concerned about sugar from fruit but also keep an eye on my natural sugar intake. These days if I eat too much "added sugar" I get an almost immediate headache, whereas I never get a headache from eating…
  • Well feel free to tell them for yourself that their submissions are "rubbish" as the report is open for public comment. Here is the full report - http://health.gov/dietaryguidelines/2015-scientific-report/ "As announced in the Federal Register [PDF - 181KB], the public is encouraged to view the Committee’s Advisory Report…
