  • I ran 2,016 miles this year
  • I ran 25 miles on my treadmill last year because i had a May marathon and we had an ice storm in April the day I was due for the long run. I watched a movie on my kindle and veged out....it wasn't so bad. Hahaaa yeah right...
  • Noooooo!! I love them but thats half my daily calories-ill starve!!! Lol
  • Isn't that great?!! Glad you shared Brian!!
  • I got so off topic on that site, there are tons of great reads there!! Thanks Brian!
  • Hahaa I love it! My new favorite one now is the car baby one from the insurance company. My Mustang GTs name is Misty and I wub herrr. Heheheee hubby thinks I'm nuts
  • Im wondering if your workouts are too easy. Try intervals and make it HARD. Mixing up workouts help too. Cardio and weights. :) And eat quality foods. Wishing you much success!
  • My dad used to tell me that running looked so hard because no one looks happy while doing it. Im much more apt to smile when cars pass because I want people to know I like it and they should try it! youre right too...watch out for the cameras! Ive had too many ugggly pics I wont buy!
  • Very good reality check. :) much success in your bulking. I look forward to hearing of your process.
  • Lean said "the hay is in the barn" and that is a great analogy! I would do short easy running and not worry. Foam rolling is a good idea like Sonic said, too. I did a short taper before one marathon and a longer one for the next and it made NO difference, except I may have been a little more rested with the longer taper.…
  • I got my one and only on my right shoulder blade last spring. My 21 year old daughter and I got roses and mine has my 3 kids names written on the leaves and a 26.2 after I ran a marathon. :) I had it specially made and I love it!
  • Wow...really...wow. I am speechless. You look just like my neice, and you look amazing!!!! She has battled the weight and she is on the right track like you. I am so happy for you and your children. What a wonderful gift you gave them. Priceless. :)
  • ^^^ this . I run with others when I want to go somewhere new or add mileage. I use my Garmin to track pace after the run and ill look at it every now and then during the long run to see how fast (or slow) im going out of curiosity but go by effort only. Have a great run!
  • Make SURE you wash them out really well when done!! My hubby got a bad infection on his forhead from the baseball cap he wore during his walks. Dr. said throw them out, get new ones and wash them daily. I wear a running cap or a band, but I run a ton, so its not as bad as it used to be, reiterating what Scott said. :)
  • I have to check to see if my neighbor's car is in their driveway...if it is, the dog is out and will chase me. If it isn't, I am ok to run. So I now go by their schedule, or run Treadmill. :(
  • Dee loves them Nikes!! Lol! I have 4 "old " ones i wear to work and out and about...and 2 new im rotating. The old ones dont look old but when I put them on they feel it. The soles are not worn at all and I hate to get rid of them. I would like to put an insert in them and keep running with them but im scared ill get…
  • It is said "Hitting the wall " usually happens at 20 miles. I havent hit it doing slow distance . It isnt necessarily fasted but exhausted and empty where you're legs feel like lead and mentally you are confused. I felt that after a really fast race where i had no idea what i was doing and had to be guided about and uphill…
  • This. :) I usually shower first....nothing spoils lunch like B.O. lol No, not too heavy, just make sure you eat only enough to feel full. Bag the rest for a snack if need be. And eat slowly.
  • Everyone has a reason why they want to become fit, and if they dig down deep, they can get it done. You are a wonderful inspiration, and I applaud you for your continued success and for continuing to reach out to others who need to see and feel your tenacity and progress with fabulous results. It will be a lifetime…
  • I saw this too. I ran all last winter on the treadmill. 55-65 miles a week. Even the long 25 mile runs at a tiny incline. I did ok during the marathon but pounding the pavement...literally...could have prepared my body for the shock of it the second half. Pavement is much harder of a surface. For a half marathon I would…
  • Caloriesperhour.com has all kinds of ways you can figure it out. Also try runnersworld.com for other calculators. Also prohealth.com/weightloss/tools/exercise /calculator2_2cfm. The last one has you put in more details of gender and age weight and will give you a pretty good calories burned. I burn less than 100 cals a…
  • same here. I took it then went off with no difference. I read that combined running and strenth training will actually improve joints.
  • I LOVE my Garmin watch!! I had it in the box for a year and a half thinking it was this difficult thing. I just turn it on and it gives me heartrate (if I want it but run by feel) ... pace ..distance and time. Then I plug it into the computer and push one button and it downloaded all that plus grade of the road and…
  • ^^^ this is what I did. I have not been injured...(crossing fingers) im training for my second marathon and am up to a 19 mile long run in the RunnersWorld.com website of Hal Higdons marathon 2 program. good luck! With patience and persistence you will do great!!
  • I was a cheerleader (HS and College) -smoker and band geek. I am smoke free for 29 years and run marathons.
  • Anything over an hour is a good idea to have something. Gatorade makes a liquid gel which is their pre workout drink. Thinner than a GU its good if you're on your way out and dont want a lot of water. Then ill put a GU in my pocket for mid run just in case. Before a long race ill have toast and PB at home with a cup of…
  • I am so sorry. :( I will use my wish for you. I really hope it comes true.
  • I run by effort as well. I find when I am running at race pace I cant slow down much. I will do shorter runs and some long runs slow and dont speed up and at the end of the run I feel like I had gone for a walk. In other words make your slow runs slow and your fast runs fast. :) good luck with your races!!
  • I LOVE my bowflex!! It is so easy once you get used to the exercises and you dont need a spotter.
  • My 12 year old had the same and the antibiotics drops worked but it took a couple days dealing with the pain.. And she has issues with wax buildup and needs to use the softeners drops once a week. The Dr. said to use peroxide and / or rubbing alcohol to dry out her ears each time she went swimming but didnt mention the…
