Congrats!!! I quit about a year ago and I am still amazed how much better life is now that I am FREE! Be kind to yourself for awhile, give yourself little gifts, try to avoid stress, etc. I can't believe how much easier it is to work out now, how much more energy I have, how well I can breath and how much more time and…

Me me!! I do it about 20-30 minutes most days with a dance hoop. I got a sport/exercise hoop at first but I like the dance hoops a lot better than the heavily weighted ones, they allow you to learn cool tricks and dance moves that keeps it lots of fun! I added my own custom exercise for this at about 6 cal/minute I think,…

I weigh in at work so I don't do it naked and have usually had a bit of water or coffee beforehand if not a snack as well. I take my shoes off and wear a lightweight outfit that day....and then I tell myself all my clothes and the water I drank must have added 10-15lbs to my weight so I am doing pretty good really!!…

I would have wine & cheese! Nothing wrong with goodies if you have room in your diary! :)

This is me too! Quit smoking a year ago, and only learned I had asthma about 18 months ago and terrible year-round allergies. I use an albuterol inhaler my doctor prescribed just before I go and carry it with me in case I have any issues. It has gotten a lot better in the past year but if I don't keep up with allergy meds…

I think this I a very valuable post for those that ask or are worried about water, I think there are quite a few people who let themselves get overly concerned with it.... Personally I don't track water, only pay attention to the color of my pee to make sure things look right. Then again, I love water, tea, and seltzer so…

I've got 4 cats. 2 are the picture of health, one is a little underweight due to overactive thyroid but is getting better. But the poor little stray I picked up outside a cheap motel last year with severe digestive "issues" and underdeveloped back legs due to malnutrition as a baby....that boy has learned to EAT and is…

Hey I started c25k in October and I'm still not done, running 2-4 times a week depending on my schedule, I just don't progress that fast. And ya know what, I don't care! I was getting mad at myself until I realized what my REAL goal when I started was to be able to burn some calories relatively quickly in a short morning…

It's all an estimate anyway really.... but I use those two categories myself for home strength training and for what I do the "light" seems like not enough and the "heavy" seems like too much. Sometimes I split my time half and half or something just pick one or the other based on how fast I was moving/what my intensity…

I love my adjustable dumbells too! There are lots of great bodyweight strength programs you could try too and of course yoga! Sounds like you have a lot of great options for cardio already but there's always dancing, jogging, and lots of free workouts to follow along to on YouTube. I prefer to work out at home because it's…

You look great and it looks like your clothes are fitting better? Don't stress it, clothing sizes mean nothing anyway and you can totally see the difference in your shape! Soon enough you will be annoyed at having to replace all your bigger clothes! ;)

Almond...because with almonds they count as health food!!! :D

In the past month I have had tacos, pizza, burgers, fries, chocolate bars, cookies, and all sorts of cocktails, so yes definitely possible! My calorie goal is now 1600 (set to lose VERY SLOWLY as I'm close to my goal now), but even when I was on a goal of 1250-1350 I could eat these things, especially with some extra…

Allan Carr's book - well worth a read for the information and inspiration...I tried to quit cold turkey after reading this, but failed (was moving across country and starting a new job at this time, could have been the stress). Got an ecig....got me to reduce down to 1-2 cigarettes a day for awhile, smoking habit crept…

I weighed and measured closely for awhile until I felt confident enough to eyeball things well and based on my rate of loss I think I'm doing pretty well. BUT I still always carefully weigh cheese and measure alcohol/wine - these are my weaknesses and being a little bit off comes to a lot of calories so I don't give myself…

I like this thread since I live in Phoenix and the heat is reaching 119 this week, it's been very difficult to keep up with my running. I am hoping if I can squeeze one or two short morning runs in a week I won't lose too much of my progress. I also do cardio indoors (dance and stationary bike) so I am hoping to stay…

Your smile in these photos tells the whole story! What an inspiration you and coach and your amazing positive attitudes are! :)

I absolutely think this has been a huge aid to my weight loss! I eat most of my meals on a salad plate and I often try to make them look pretty as I serve my food, it just increases the enjoyment and I have read it can be helpful to increase your satisfaction with meals. I also have some little tiny plates about 3" around…

That is awesome! When I worked in a large office, I used to take a walk around the whole place a few times a day holding file folders and looking like I was on a mission, stopping occasionally to talk to people in different areas of the office about small projects or questions, no one was ever the wiser! Now I rig a…

I have a Joye 510 and I love it! Got me off cigarettes and feeling better than ever, and you can also get nicotine-free liquid for these if you only crave the action/habit of it. I tend toward the sweet fruity flavors with it and just that can get me through a dessert craving too. :) My doctor, dentist, husband, family,…

This is funny to me.... I get these comments all the time in regards to my artistic "talent". I do not believe I have any talent at all! About 5 years ago I decided I was going to draw and paint well and I started drawing every day. These days, I can draw a very realistic rendition of almost any scene or photo, as long as…

Yikes, if it a choice between health insurance & the gym, get the insurance!! When I didn't have insurance I never went to the dr unless I was really sick and as a result my husband and I really suffered from missing out on some routine tests and stuff. I work out at home for the convenience and I find an endless variety…

I love reduced fat triscuits, Japanese rice crackers, and those mini cheese flavored rice cakes (I bring these to the movies a lot in place of popcorn YUM!). Dry roasted peas & soybeans are tasty too.

I'm always curious about this too, I don't really understand it. I think I have an average frame I suppose, maybe on the smallish side, I do have a small head and small wrists... But most of my adult life I have been around the top of my BMI range and relatively happy with it, except for the two times I got chubby. I have…

I am so impressed you have gone this far without going over your calories for even one day?! WOW!!! I go over mine at least once or twice a week hahaha!! I don't take issue with cheat days, in fact over Christmas week and my birthday week both I upped to maintenance calories and feasted a bit! Then I had a big cheat day…

I have asthma, it was undiagnosed until shortly before I quit smoking. As a smoker I rarely had symptoms but I have them all the time now...partly because I exercise more and harder than when I smoked. However...I was looking into this and read that sometimes the chemicals in cigarettes can actually mask asthma and related…

I follow a pretty moderate diet these days with plenty of room for some sweets and other treats.... But years ago I was a total sugar fiend, I was eating several candy bars a day and other sugary things. At the time, I went on a low fat diet and gave up all sugary treats, drinks, etc. for about 2 months. The strangest…

Hi there! I have a Joye 510 that helped me quit, they have starter kits for around $50 and they have rechargeable batteries and use flavored nicotine "juices" that you buy separately to drip inside. I like that all the parts are replaceable so it is relatively low cost to maintain/replace parts as needed (batteries and…

Try to give it as hard and straight of a push with your hands to get it going for starters, this is a big help. Some people find it easier to go in a side to side kind of motion but a lot of people start out with one foot in front of the other and rock forward and back a little. Try to pay attention to it when it hits the…

This to me sounds like the problem. Every day is a new start. If you are ready for a change you should try for a fresh start each day towards healthier choices. You can do it!
