I've had a few swings but nothing to your extreme - my target is 2.0-3.0 I was bang in that range for 2 years - no change in dose everything was fantastic. But in the last year I've been as high as 4.4 and then more recently as low as 1.4 - with nothing other than my fitness levels changing - don't drink much at all, diet…

Thanks for the option, I am staying clear of electronic shifting for the moment, I am not sure it is for me to be honest. Had my Retul fit today for my current ride with the local guy, very interesting. And glad those on this thread suggested it as it has helped my current bike with my 'settings'.

Same here, and if they are patient with me at a roundabout etc I thank them with a wave.

I am booked in with a local guy who does this using the Retul gear - more for a fit of my current carbon hybrid bike for the moment, as that will be staying with me anyway - after all the equation isn't n - 1  Hopefully the numbers that come from this 'fit' will go some way to helping work out which roadie should be…

Thanks Cloggsy - even more choice !!

I googled it earlier, and found my local place :) Just working out whether they are free when I am at the moment.

That makes things clearer, never knew things like this even existed!
-
Yes it will be properly fitted to me - by a local bike shop.

This is still under major consideration. Been looking at De Rosa bikes now - this one looks pretty good and has some nice components : http://www.i-ride.co.uk/Merak-Evolution-with-Fulcrum-Racing-3-Wheels.aspx Anyone have any experience?

Weigh yourself on the same spot of the floor? As daft as it sounds, I weigh myself on a tiled floor - and from one tile to another can give a different weight. Measurements are definitely the best way forward - remember when you pick out clothes they are in sizes of cm and inches and not kg and lb's.

Another thing to add, is that when you quit smoking you can do more at the gym/exercise, push your body harder, run faster, cycle longer etc so you'll lose weight / inches. I don't think some people realise just how much smoking can take hold of your life and hold you back. Like I put earlier the biggest regret was I…

I hate hearing the excuse of "but I'll put on weight" Surely its better to live longer but slightly bigger than live shorter and thinner? And plus if you live longer you have more time to lose the weight!

Wow - Just Wow!

Try looking around the front fork area. I had a recent noise that I thought was down to pedals, as it was always when putting the hammer down (not when turning pedals by hand) - but it turns out it was from the top of the front forks - I never thought about it at the time as I was fixated on the pedal area, but when…

Best thing anyone can do is try understand why you smoke, and do changing circumstances really make you smoke more? Work out a system on how to change the habit of smoking - like someone mentioned earlier do a plank when you feel like a cigarette. The biggest regret you'll have once you've quit is that you didn't do it…
-
It is EASY, those that think its not are not as committed to wanting to quit - that is all - you may think you REALLY want to, but you don't - harsh fact I am afraid. People go into quitting, thinking its going to be hard, its that what makes people think its hard - they have a preconception in their head before they start!
-
I quit and lost 24 kg's at a similar time. Quitting smoking is EASY, its NOT hard, anyone can do it. If you want it enough you will do it! If health is not motivational enough to quit try reading this (my thread): http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/770883-my-success-results-of-quitting-smoking I wrote a blog a while…

Last year around October I struggled to do any more than 5 miles, when I reached 7 miles I felt fantastic, when I hit 10 I couldn't stop smiling - nowadays and a fair bit more training now, I am now approaching the longest ride being 50 miles, and feeling great! Keep it up, you will get there.

Try High5 Zero - its an electrolyte drink, but its pretty much zero calories. Its available as a dissovable tablet in water, I drink some before and bike ride about an hour before for hydration, then during as I would normally drink. The tablets cost approx £6 for 20 over here in the UK. Available on-line and in stores such…

See, this is the reason I am asking here - those are things I hadn't thought of !! Thank you :)

Anyone have experience of this: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=104500 Giant TCR Advanced SL 3 - Compact 2012 The 2013 is around £4-£5kk ish, but looking at the 2012 models that are still around this is around £2,700

Thanks TBY that looks like a good one to start reading up on.

I couldn't believe the sheer choice, hence wanting some ideas on where to start lol. Thanks for the first two to look at. I am of course not adverse to spending less :)
-
Thanks will look them up :)

First question. What time of day did you take your starting weight? Second question. What time of day did you take your current weight? If the answer to 1 & 2 are not at least similar then re-weigh tomorrow. For example your weight can fluctuate quite a bit in a normal day - I can be 3lb heavier in the evening than I was…

Try High5 Zero for hydration if you haven't already - I just fill up the water bottle chuck in a tablet and take it on my ride. The citrus flavour is very mild and doesn't affect my stomach. You can pick it up from supermarkets, local bike shops and places like Holland and Barrett etc in a tube - about £6 for 20 tablets.
