  • The best advice I can offer you to quit smoking is one of the things you're doing, changing a habit - the back porch thing. Another piece I can offer is on the weekly anniversary of you quitting put the money you would have spent on cigarettes into a clear plastic jar to save, it acts as a great way to show the…
  • Working out injured is worse than not working out. Your body needs to recover to be effective.
  • Quitting smoking is not as difficult as I believed it would be - because I was so determined to do it, I was determined to make sure that I improved my life, I didn't substitute for food, I started with sugar free polo's and water. I never gained weight when I first stopped, and since doing that I found this site and…
  • I've tried a few different sets of Shorts. Castelli - TIGHT!! Altura Ergofit - pretty comfortable Adidas Supernova - Best I've found for me But go for BIB shorts, I find they do a better job of holding it all there than just shorts.

  • If you listened to everything put on an internet forum about weight loss / bulking / fitness etc you'd never do anything, every 'theory' gets contradicted by another one, every theory gets re-bunked as being 'internet gossip' and rubbish, etc etc... Find what works for you and do it, otherwise you'll spend all your time…
  • See if you can get samples from either the web or eBay etc to try. I use USN stuff, tried the Banana and Strawberry and like both - I prefer mixing with milk rather than water.

  • One day I shall get there lol.
  • I've got 1 - of a 6km circuit. It is rather more downhill than uphill but hey its still classed as KOM http://app.strava.com/segments/4488077
  • and thank you again for doing it all again. Well done to all people that gave it a go  and congratulations to all those that made the podium.
  • Completely forgot to transfer in some riders for the last day, only had Greipel, thought I had Cav already but realised I got rid of him mid way through, and missed out putting Kittel in, however I don't think it would have made much difference to my position. Weirdly, or surprisingly this was the first time I have ever…
  • Smoking is completely a mental game. After deciding enough was enough, I quit 18 months ago, never looked back. Biggest regret, other than starting, was not giving up sooner. I've wasted 16 years of my life stuck with cigarettes - now I see what I've achieved without them, it is my biggest regret :(
  • Completely, 100%, the truth! You must REALLY REALLY want to quit, once you realise that you REALLY REALLY want to, it is not hard at all.
  • It's been a fun challenge, next time I will find more time to get out for longer :) Thanks to TBY for his great organisational and logging skills :drinker:

  • Looks a lovely machine
  • Each to their own I think, but don't want to give the impression that I am riding along with massive Beats on my ears not hearing a thing going on around me. If I couldn't hear the music due to wind noise last night I don't see it as a problem. Its more for background noise - if it was to cause me a distraction I wouldn't…
  • Had to pump the tyres up on the bike as a kid, I rarely went out for rides - so the odd time the bike came out the shed the tyres inevitably flat. I have headphones in but not loud, I can still hear things around me easily, and even hear a cycling partner telling me to speed up or slow down. For example last night I…
  • Helps keep the sweat away from the skin and soaking the jersey - it does work ;) granted I've gone from full sleeve to sleeveless ones this summer ;) Plus it helps stop unwanted rubbing ;)
  • Entry fee just put me off!! :noway:
  • Yes EMX-3 with Campag 11 speed I will admit I went out on it for the first time today, bloody hard work - first time on a Road bike with drop bars - getting confused with where the brakes are - odd panic moment. Overall was quicker over compared similar distances by about 1mph which isn't bad at all especially considering…
  • Yes they are Fulcrum Racing 5's Didn't want to upgrade to something a bit better and end up going even better in the near future thus wasting the first upgrade - as knowing me it won't take long to upgrade :)
  • After a lot of consideration, and looking at various different options - I chose the new bike...it is pretty much built up now- except the shop are waiting for delivery of the pedals and the Garmin cadence and mounts need fitting. The shop sent me a teaser photo (as I am out of the country until tonight).... Hopefully pick…
  • Weirdly I always find the corrected figures for elevation are higher than those that come out of the Garmin when uploaded. Maybe its where I live - who knows.
  • I'll be logging on Garmin Connect - should I submit the elevation numbers with the correction enabled or not? - or as the machine spews it out?
  • Do you weigh yourself on the same set of scales at the same time of day each time?
