  • Lots of local events here in NJ/NYC Metro area. Miles for Music 20k in March. Long Island Half Marathon in May. Spartan Sprint in June. Boilermaker 15k in Upstate NY in July(hopefully if I get in). Warrior Dash in August in PA. Random 5k's sprinkled in for good measure. Don't have my fall/winter schedule set yet.
  • Have you heard that TM is thinking about tear gas. Good luck training for that!!
  • Good morning MFP/Fat2FitHQ peeps. Don't post too much but I have a question about my newly acquired FitBit. I am a bit obsessed currently and am trying to make my 10000 steps if it kills me! Anyway- this is more of a question about other people in some of my fitbit groups. How on earth does someone accumulate 300000 steps…
  • So... I did a Spartan Sprint in June and it was one of the hardest races I've done. partly because of the terrain- it was at a ski slope, partly because of the obstacles(lack adequate upper body strength) and partly because my running partner(girlfriend) quickly became an unwilling participant about 1/2 mile into the 4…
  • i've done other mud runs but not Spartan Race. Signed up for one in Brooklyn for June. Got a Rugged Maniac on the schedule too. they're a blast.
  • hey Fab!! I'm also a 270 lb jogger. I started out last year when I was probably around 330 and couldnt make it 0.1 mile without stopping. But I kept going out and pushing until I could make 0.2 miles then I made 0.5 miles.... This weekend I entered a 15K. It will be tough as it is the farthest I will have run to date. Make…
  • I think I was around 420. I didnt have access to a scale when I made the decision that enough was enough. I first weighed in at 417 officially around 3 yrs ago. I'm currently ~270 on my way to 230.
  • I have done a program through Active.com and Sony for 10k training. They have mulitple distance training programs available and the one I signed up for is free.
  • I thought the same thing until I signed up for a 5k Heart Association walk. After I finished it I was amazed how short it felt. I walked with a coworker and just talked the whole time. We did it in about 45 minutes and not walking all that fast. I am going to RUN the same event this year. This was the event that made me…
  • What's up everyone? 6' tall. Started almost 3 yrs ago at around 420. Currently at ~270 on my way to 225.

  • If I can make it through the weekend with only a pound gain then I find myself lucky.
  • If you're talking about water it is 1/4 cup.
  • I use this site for tracking my calories, exercise and weight. I do not use it as a social networking site and have limited my 'friends" because all the 'support' does get annoying. Seriously -does "AWESOME" as a response to your workout or completed diary really support and motivate? Maybe its me. I have social network…
  • I get to see people who are coming out of the McDonalds drive thru shoving fries, burgers and shakes into their pie-holes as I'm trudging along on my treadmill. woo-frickin'-hoo. At least there isnt anything this blatently counter productive inside my gym.
  • cool- Pandora doesnt work in my gym either. This is cool if I decide to go for a run at the park though. Thanks.

  • Good job!!! Completing a half mile on the first time out is a very nice accomplishment. I struggled to make it a tenth of a mile before I started walking. It didnt take too long before I was up to doing a 5K. GO FOR IT!!!!!

  • excellent work!!! and I mean that- its WORK!!! you look great!
  • it can be done!!!! I quit this past January (1/11/11) I couldnt smoke for at least 48 hrs after some dental work so I figured that this was a good time to kick it for good. I was on the patch plus used an e-cig (without nicotine) to give me something to satisfy my need to 'smoke'. I continued the same eating and exercise…

  • just ordered one fom me and my girlfriend. My timex HRM has been a little flaky since I got it in March. This seems like a very good deal.
  • I agree. If I want to KNOW what I'm eating and exactly how much then I weigh everything.
  • just made these last night. incredibly easy and incredibly tasty!!!!
  • pickles!!!! I love dill pickles but have found that while the are very low calorie they are sodium bombs!!!!
  • i did the same thing a while ago. It was a shock to see how much sodium I was ingesting on a daily basis. Limiting my sodium along with increasing my water has helped me a great deal over the past few months. I seem to be EXTREMELY sensitive to sodium as I will pack on the pounds after eating out. I beleive its the sodium…

  • if its free its for me!!!
  • I agree. I've removed Sugars from the macronutrients that I keep track of but added Fiber and Sodium. Luckily I am not diabetic and dont have to worry as much about limiting sugars. I find the benefit of fiber outweighs the negative of going over my sugar totals.
  • according to the BMI calculator my ideal wieght would be less than 183 lbs- that is unrealistic for me. I havent been that light since I was in high school and I was actually in shape and pretty fit back then. I am shooting for overwieght and just out of the "Obese" category for now.
  • I've found that my body is extremely sensitive to sodium and will retain water like its going out of style. After having chinese food or even just going to the diner I will end up gaining a few pounds. I will start drinking water and get back into my routine and I usually go back to my previous weight within a day or two.…

  • I am not a doctor but..... if you are anemic then Vit B complex could only help. You need these as they are precursors to hemoglobin. You would only know if you dont absorb these through additional testing. And if you dont absorb them you will just pee the excess out as they are all water soluble.
