  • Losing 82 pounds might seem like an overwhelming task. But when faced with the enormity of a task, my mom would always say to me "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time". That's the thing. You don't have to commit to what you'll be doing the rest of your life. Just commit to a lifestyle change for today. Then do it…
  • The Big Bang Theory M*A*S*H* (not always a comedy, but often was) Two and a Half Men (pre Charlie Sheen meltdown) Married With Children (the first couple of years before it got totally dumb) All In The Family/The Jeffersons (okay that's two shows but one spun off the other)
  • You are awesome! What great pics you posted. You have much to be proud of!
  • I'd rather be at a healthy weight with excess skin than filled out skin in the obese category BMI.
  • I gained 35 pounds and came out with just a couple light stretch marks on my 8008s. Nothing on my tummy. My poor sister hardly gained any weight but her tummy looks like a road map.
  • I cave in to the cravings to a modest degree. I believe that the deprivation technique just leads me to binge. But if I know carbs aren't "off limits", then when I crave them at PMS time I eat them in moderation, because I know I can have more later.
  • I am 5'4". I started out 165# in a size 12, or a Large. I am currently 120# (plus or minus a pound) and wear a size 2 or 4, and Small.
  • Not in any way that's even remotely healthy. And honestly, unless you're morbidly obese, I doubt you could even do it in an unhealthy manner in two weeks.
  • I never took it seriously although it was a wake up call when it would show me gaining weight because I'd eaten heavily that day.
  • I have friends who've lost significant weight. And they've since found all that weight and then some in some of the cases...
  • I don't know the answers to all that. But I focused on high protein, and ate a lot of fruits and veggies. And Mexican food. And the occasional cupcake (translation, I ate well most of the time but enjoyed the occasional treat).
  • I'm 5'4". Started at 165# last September. Currently right around 120. Goal weight was 125 but ended up here. Hit goal weight in March. Have been maintaining without problems since then. You can do this!
  • Sounds a lot like South Beach. My hubby's been doing South Beach and has lost almost 20 pounds. And he's not even doing it hard core.
  • I've got the same problem. 5'4" and 120 pounds. I've accepted my tummy is skin and just living with it. However, I'm 44 years old and the weight loss aftermath has left extra skin a variety of areas. So this is just one of several... Tighten up everything underneath the loose skin and suck it in when you're clothed.…
  • I'm gonna save you a fortune and share the true secret to sustainable weight loss. Shhhh.... Don't tell anyone... Eat less or move more. Or both.  All joking aside, there really is no other way to sustainable weight loss but calorie reduction and/or exercise. The only thing that is going to stay lighter over…
  • When I switched to maintenance I was unable to eat at maintenance level calories due to my horrific fear of regaining the weight. Additionally I was having stomach problems that made it hard to eat much. I'm still struggling to eat at maintenance level on a daily basis. I've been labeled has having "disordered eating". I'm…
  • You look amazing. And frankly, I'm 5'4" tall and weigh 120 pounds and couldn't run a mile and a half if someone was chasing me with a machete. So you are to be commended for not only the weight loss, but the healthy lifestyle you're creating for yourself. Who cares what a few strangers think. They have no idea where you've…
  • ^^^ This. And possibly a dietician. You may be nutritionally depleting yourself even when you are eating, which will stop your period, cause hair loss, etc.
  • You need a registered dietician to help you develop a plan to regain weight in a healthy manner. They are used to dealing with people who have various EDs and will be sensitive to your fears. And I think it goes without saying that other professional help is probably necessary too.
  • This is my first time losing on MFP. However, the list of other times I've lost this same weight is nearly endless. Let's see, lost 35 on Weight Watchers, stayed off for over a year, but ultimately gained it all back because I learned nothing about nutrition or healthy eating. I've lost weight using Metabolife (when it…
  • I would seek professional advice on the topic of what you should be consuming given your current size (if that comes off sounding offensive, please accept my apologies in advance). You may be outside normal calculating ranges and I'd hate to see you starving yourself instead of losing the weight you want at a healthy rate.
  • Not to be argumentative, but my doctor told me years ago when I quit smoking that even if I didn't eat one extra calorie, I will gain at least a small amount of weight after quitting due to the fact my heart is not having to use as much energy to pump blood through my piss poor circulatory system (caused by smoking). So…
  • I believe it's absolutely possible to lose the kind of weight they do. But the bigger question is, just how sustainable is it??? And I want my skin to have every opportunity to keep up with my weight loss (tighten up as much as it will at this point) and dropping 10 pounds a week is not going to help much here.
  • Love love love this verse. Had it up on the mirror in my bathroom when I was dealing with massive anxiety, so that I'd be reminded constantly. I used the full verse beginning with the "Have I not commanded you" part to remind me that this isn't just a suggestion on God's part. LOL
  • For motivation, "What's it going to take to get me from where I am today, to where I want to be?" As for food choices, I paraphrase straight from the Bible. "Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial".
  • I'm dyin' over here. Coworkers think I'm nuts for staring at my screen laughing...
  • I cut up a half a tomato, a half an avocado, dump in a small pouch of albacore tuna, and a tablespoon or so of lite Italian dressing. Delicious!

  • I read a book a few months back that said most of us know "how to" lose weight. We just have to get to our "want to" lose weight mode. And only you know what it's going to take to get there. But I am confident that you can do it. Incidentally, I got married last June, BEFORE I lost the weight and when my wedding photos…
  • I like a lighter brew so I enjoy Folgers Vanilla Biscotti, or Green Mountain Hazelnut.
