  • I've always liked allrecipes.com for their user reviews and nutritional info. I wasn't impressed by Thug. Some of the swearing seemed forced (e.g. not natural) even for a "thug". It also doesn't have nutritional information or a way to search recipes.
  • You are super inspiring with your workouts after hip replacements! I've been too lazy this summer and need to get back to the gym!
  • Mio is yummy. I have a hard time drinking water without enhancements most of the time. The big negative with flavor enhancers is that they contain acid which is bad for your teeth. Keep in mind, however, that citrus fruits also have a lot of acid in them.
  • I've been slacking for about a week. I'm facing end of the semester deadlines and having a hard time forcing myself to write the paper that's the only thing I have left. I figured out the problem with sliding was due to having my elbows too far out in front of me. I've done one workout since this one and it went really…
  • I have chocolate every day :-)
  • I started this recently...just did my third workout yesterday. The first time I did it, the warm-up felt like it's own workout, and I was sore for 3 or 4 days....really sore. But I can really tell I'm benefiting from it already. Also...I started a group for Supercharged.…
  • Logging is crucial...at least for me. If I know I'm under on y calories, I won't eat something I otherwise might. If I'm in danger of going over, I know to exercise so I can eat a decent supper. It doesn't give you self-control, but gives you needed information to guide you in exxerting self control. When I lived off…
  • So...I did my first NROL-S workout Monday night. I went late enough that there weren't a lot of people in the gym...and late enough that I was crazy tired for two days due to lack of sleep. A young couple ended up hanging out upstairs (they did work out some first), but they were the only others up there. I've been working…
  • Wish I'd seen your post! My hamstrings are soooo sore!!!! I didn't even do all the exercises...but I did do all the leg exercises. I have moderate pain other places (abs, glutes, chest), but standing up and sitting down, walking up and (esp) down stairs hurts soooo much! At least I know I worked hard enough :-)
  • Pandora's 80s Cardio channel. I also like to work out to big band music,
  • Thanks for the testimonial and encouragement! I have My first workout planned and copies of the pages showing the exercises I'm not familiar with copied :-) Part of me wants to go to the gym super late at night for the first couple of workouts.
  • One of my spring break projects has been to find and get back to reading Supercharged. I've been looking at Chapter 18 and am feeling more confident :-)
  • That's what diuretics do. I think the idea is that the excess water causes your HBP. I take Hydrochlorothiazide which is a diuretic. It doesn't do much for my BP, but it sure thins out my ankles and I gain 5 lbs if I miss a few days of taking it.
  • This is interesting...NROL Supercharged specifically recommends cottage cheese post workout for those who are more interested in losing fat as opposed to those who are looking to build muscle.
  • . Here you go...a request for proof from a non-dairy addict. I don't care for most dairy products, but I think anyone making claims that counter standard nutritional advice needs to cite reliable/scientific/scholarly sources for their information if they want people to believe the information.
  • The puddings are a wonderful vehicle for taking nasty tasting pills like Prednisone.
  • Cut portions in half when eating out.
  • I like baked chips/crisps. Here in the U.S., we have some good ones sold as PopChips! and Kellogg's makes Special K chips...love the popcorn ones best. I also find poppits which are like mini rice cakes made with popcorn. Any of these will quell a craving for chips/crisps for me with fewer calories than regular chips.
  • I like these and the Market Pantry (Target's store brand) Nutrition Bars. They'll cost twice as much, but have a lot more nutritional value. Look for these in the nutrition bars area where the protein drinks and power bars are sold. I'm surprised they have 10g of protein. Most of the bars I see advertised as protein bars…
  • If you're lactose intolerant, you'll probably feel the best you ever have. Other than that, I'm not a nutritionist. I do know that dairy is the most obvious way to get calcium combined with Vitamin D.
  • Cottage cheese (1 cup) is recommended as a post-workout food in NROL Supercharged.
  • Make a fruit or veggie tray since a lot of people like that and it won't look like you're trying to introduce them to some weird health food. You could also get baked chips such as Special K, Poppits, etc. Count out your serving and stick to it. If it were me, I might make a favorite treat I don't dare make without someone…
  • If you don't like the smell or taste of sauerkraut, I'd avoid Kale Chips....at least making your own. I made some once and my whole apt. smelled nasty!
  • I love the SF dark chocolate puddings and the SF Jello. I tried the chocolate Temptations. The flavor was good, but I HATED the texture. I ended up stirring them to a smooth consistency and eating them that way.
  • My former trainer suggested I eat at least 20 grams of protein after my workouts. I typically eat either a protein bar (Pure Protein and Market Pantry brands come in at about 200 cal. and 20 grams of protein). Tonight I had chocolate muscle milk (yummy, 160 cal. for 20 grams of protein, but pricey...$3 from the vending…
  • Same here unless I'd had a late lunch. When I get off work at 4 p.m., I'm usually hungry, so I need a snack before working out.
  • Raspberry vinaigrette is my new fave...(used to be full fat Western, but I hate the lower fat varieties of the same). I get the one Kraft bottles in small bottles. I think it has poppy seeds. This sounds like a yummy salad...actually like the one I paid $5 for at Einstein's tonight!
  • Cook extra and freeze leftovers. It's a good idea to pack up the leftovers before you start eating, so you don't go back for too much more! Brown and season meat ahead and freeze it in a bag. I flatten the bags out to make it easier to get just enough for one or two, but you could freeze it on a lined baking sheet. I…
  • I had their Asian salad today...it was amazing. I take these to work a lot. LC and Healthy Choice are the only frozen dinners I like at all that are low enough in calories for me.
  • Hey all! I've started a new group for Superchargers! It's called "New Rules - Supercharged!" Please head on over and start posting :flowerforyou:
