  • Ok, I feel really stupid...but what does NSV stand for? BTW....that's awesome! Always great to run into someone you haven't seen in a long time looking and feeling good!
  • I also had my surgery on 4/7/14, squeaker31. I feel like my loss has been slower than I expected so sometimes I feel like maybe I'm making the wrong decisions. Even though all I eat is chicken and veggies for the most part...idk I'm having mixed emotions about it all today.
  • I hit my first stall at 3 weeks and I am currently in another stall at seven weeks. I was told lots of protein, lots of water, and exercise will help you move through the stalls. I was also told by my surgeon that you lose inches not pounds during a stall.
  • I only stayed on shakes as long as I had to...I could not wait to actually eat something. I do still have one here and there. When I asked my dietician about it she said the ultimate goal is for you to get all of your protein from food. They didn't want me to rely on the shakes. You are a better person than I am because I…
  • I'm so glad you posted about the Chike, apelilag. I have been wanting to try that out.

  • My surgeon said I needed to wait one year. I didn't have to sign anything.
  • I can relate...there are days I really don't even feel like eating anything. But the bottom line is that you have to. You'll get there...try out different shakes until you find one that you really like. In addition to the shakes you mix with milk I also really liked the Isopure premixed drinks. I had a hard time fitting in…
  • I did not have a hernia. I took my pain medication at night for the first two weeks. I would get really uncomfortable at night. That first week though I was really sore when I was up and moving around but it passed by the second week. The more I moved around the better I felt.
  • I asked my dietician for the marker numbers for sugar and fat. I didn't ask about carbs. I figured if I am hitting my protein and watching my sugar and fat that the rest would be fine.
  • Thanks for sharing! I was just curious....
  • Good point JxAAA, I haven't had a "revisit" of my food and I hope that never happens. But I do try to eat until I feel full just so I can get all of my protein in.
  • I was cleared to work out the day I left the hospital. I was also told to listen to my body. I really only went on walks until about three weeks out. My third week is when I started doing 20 minutes on the elliptical and 10 minutes on the treadmill. I wasn't cleared for weights until my one month appointment. I was very…
  • Congratulations! Keep up the hard work!
  • Great advice, pawoodhull! I think I would also take in less air using a straw. I will wait and speak with them about it!
  • I have only tried the Vanilla Torte. I mixed it with milk, ice, and cinnamon. The cinnamon helped a lot. Although, now I want to try it with coffee. :)
  • Thanks for the info...just curious not looking for a reason to do anything I shouldn't. Just wondered because it seems like the guidelines are a little different for everyone. Curious as to all of the different post-op instructions.
  • I do try to make a conscious effort to slow down when I eat and I do weigh my food. I'm not able to eat 5oz of everything and when I did get that much in it was just chicken, nothing else. Typically, when I eat it's protein only. I do try to squeeze in fruit and veggies here and there but it's always protein first. Like,…
  • Also, has anyone tried drinking through a straw or chewing gum? Just curious...these were a couple of things that I was told not to do that I miss.
  • I had my surgery on 4/7/14. I never eat so much that I'm uncomfortable. I weigh everything before I eat. I just thought it was odd that I would be able to eat that much protein at one time. But then again maybe not...
  • I am so looking forward to trying nuts, popcorn, and red meat. Six months can't get here fast enough.

  • Thanks for the feedback. I do miss Diet Dr. Pepper. But not enough to make myself miserable.

  • Thank you all for the comments! It's interesting to see how different the process is for everyone. Just curious those of you who tried something carbonated after surgery...were your doctors okay with that or did you try it just to see what would happen (not judging just curious)?

  • Oh, that's great! I'm with you I haven't really had anything that didn't sit well. I know I'm only one month out and that could change. I really hope red meat won't be an issue. I'd like to be like you and stay away from the breads and sweets. However, I would like to try nuts and popcorn again.

  • Thanks for the reply. I was just curious.

  • Me too! I hit a stall for like two weeks and the scale finally moved again! I had my surgery on 4/7/14. Glad to hear it's moving for you again too.
  • My fitness pal is great for tracking food intake. However, it's not so great for tracking exercise. I talked to my dietician about how I noticed MFP tracked my calories burned during a work out at a much higher level than the machines at the gym. She informed me it's not a great tool for tracking exercise for calories…
  • Thanks for the reply! I also wonder how vanilla almond milk would be...

  • Thanks for the reply. Did you find that your hair grew back?
  • I tried decaf coffee for the first time yesterday. I tried using the sugar free French vanilla creamer and it was awful. I am not a black coffee person. Any suggestions for an alternate creamer?
