  • I changed my food diary labels to reflect time slots instead of meal names. Now I can look back and see what I ate when instead of putting snacks at the end when I might eat them through out the day. This has helped me identify what I'm eating in the evening, when often I'm eating because I'm bored instead of because I'm…
  • Weight loss is 100% diet. I'm not saying that exercise isn't important but it's all about what you eat.
  • Food timing is a myth. To the OP don't try to do it all at ounce. Slowly make changes. Start with portion control. Cut out empty calories. Cut back on soda, alcohol, sweets. Add in more fruits and veggies. Buy low fat versions where it makes sense to do so.
  • Racquet ball is my favorite right now, not at home. I went to sky zone yesterday with my 8 yr old and that was a workout. Wall to wall trampolines. http://skyzonesports.com/grandrapids.aspx
  • There are a lot of p90x success stories but this one was really inspiring. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UMdKSvwpaQ
  • Ice is water, coffee is water, pop is water, watermelon is 95% water, a potato is 75% water. You could never drink "water" and be adequately hydrated. You could never drink liquid and be adequately hydrated. Staying hydrated is important but this 8 glass of water myth thing is not based on science.
  • Stomachs don't shrink without surgical intervention. 4 days is to soon to declare that something works, come back and tell us in 4 months how its going. Very low calorie will net you some immediate gains but will hurt you in the long run. Why not just learn to eat healthy with appropriate portions?
  • You don't need to drink that much it's a myth with no scientific backing. I could post links but I suggest you google it and come to your own conclusion.
  • My daughter is signed up for that but it doesn't start till March. She's been bugging me to run with me since I started running so she's getting a jump start on it.
  • My daughter, but absolutely I loved doing it. She's 8 so some 1 on 1 bonding time has been great. I have 4 of them so 1 on 1 time is something I work hard to create for each of them. Edit: Great first post, welcome to MFP!
  • Less is more what I expected and it could very well be because from my reading and understanding an HRM is good for constant activity at an elevated level. I generally don't use it for non exercise activities but I was walk/running (mostly walking) with my 8 yr old who just began training for a 5K. My HRM connects to my…
  • What the poster didn't say is why he needs knee surgeries. If he's been significantly overweight for most of his life, if he has an illness, disease, or damage from an accident. If years of over training have worn his knees out, if he worked a job that caused a repetitive injury, His doctor may have had a legit reason to…
  • Depending on the activity MFP is usually pretty close to what my HRM says. I occasionally see calorie burns on MFP that are lower than my HRM and I'm constantly reading that MFP over estimates calories burned. So I don't know what to believe but for consistency I use my HRM numbers. That way if I don't see the results I'm…
  • Huh? Our bodies were designed to run. It's one of the reasons that we are the dominant species on the planet. You can't just state that running is bad because you need knee surgeries. That doesn't mean it's bad for everyone.
  • No thats good to know.
  • You have lost a lot in the face (its noticeable other places too), you look so much younger and healthier. I know that doesn't help with your pants size question but I thought t was worth mentioning.
  • I'm wondering if the liking of spicier things is related to healthier eating. I recently ate some thing much hotter than I normally would and enjoyed it very much. A lot of foods taste better than they used to. Maybe I'm just paying more attention to it and have definitely slowed the pace at which I shovel food into my…
  • I gave up pop 7 1/2 years ago, I went cold turkey. I drank a lot of juices and lemon aid for years. Juices often have more sugar and sometimes more calories than pop. On top of that it was expensive. It's funny pop is the cheapest thing you can drink, often being cheaper than bottled water. Eventually I switched to just…
  • Hmmm, but same distance, I think I'm looking at this wrong and your right that is significant.
  • Just moving to extremely overweight people is difficult and is a step up from doing nothing. Why shouldn't they log it? By logging it they'll figure out soon enough if they are gaining or losing and if they have to adjust. Edit: many people log walking for an hour, why not log house cleaning for an hour?
  • I use jabra sport, http://www.amazon.com/Jabra-SPORT-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headset/dp/B005FVNHBI They are bluetooth. I have an android phone but should work no prob with a iphone. I can leave my phone in my coat and go all over my gym without a problem. They are very comfortable, they don't fall out, they have great sound, they…
  • greek yogurt for breakfast, high protein for the number of calories. I buy the big container of plain and mix in my own fresh fruit. The premixed ones are higher in calories from all the sugar and other stuff they add. I can have half a cup of plain yogurt and 1/2 cup of my choice of fruit for less calories and it tastes…
  • I signed up as T1m_H (it required a 5 character name). I did 17 so I start on level 3.
  • 6 years older, yet you look younger. Way to turn back the clock.
  • To many factors to even make a guess. That is why MFP does not calculate it for you. Under Cardio there is a generic strength training entry but don't expect it to even be close. You can use a HRM but even that doesn't give a very good estimate because HRM's are designed to measure constant cardio activity.
  • Seeing as how you can't try them on and returns are probably difficult you might as well stick with what you know if you like them.
