I think a program like this will negate any strength/muscle gains you are trying to achieve. A better program would be full body lifting routines 3 times a week with two or three separate cardio workouts.

A better way to figure your macros would be to use 1 gr of protein for each pound of lean body mass that you have so let's just assume that you need 100 gr of protein a day. 100 gr protein X 4 cal/gr = 400 calories from protein. Then figure no more than 10% of your calories from carbs so 10% X 1350 = 135 cals from carbs.…

I think magen sort of hit it on the head. You have to walk before you can run. Try walking 5 minutes and jogging 1 minute for may 30 minutes and 3 or 4 times a week. Can't do a minute jogging, walk 5.5 minutes, jog 30 seconds. You get the idea. In a week to 10 days or so, start walking 4.5 minutes and jogging 1.5 minutes…

How are you training? If you are just eating more than probably 75% of the weight you're putting on is just fat. If you are strength training (lifting heavy) then the weight you are gaining could be about 75% muscle. Slow, clean bulks are best.
-
Do the weight training. You may not actually lose 5-6 pounds unless you're eating at a deficit buuuuut, you're going to lose some inches (fat) and look "hotter".

Heavy lifting is most often done with high, heavy weights, low repetitions, "longer" rest periods between sets and anywhere from 5 - 10 sets. 10 being a bit extreme. A good heavy lifting routine would be a full body routine (legs/lower body, chest, back, shoulders) done on a 5 sets x 5 rep scheme with 60-90 seconds rest…

I think a calorie burned is a calorie burned regardless of the exercise. Walking a mile burns about the same as running a mile. One exercise may have more of a cardio value but still, a calorie burned is a calorie burned.
-
Why don't you try lifting 3 times a week and cardio twice a week for about a month (and maintain your present daily calorie goal)? At the worst, no change, at the best maintain muscle and lose a bit of fat?

This has been my record at the same facility/location* since about 1983. It has been: Lexington Athletic Club World Gym Gold's Gym Urban Active and just got bought out by L A Fitness. *well I can still go the same facility/location if I wanted to. When it went to World Gym I gained two other locations in the city I could…

Well boobs would have gotten my attention! I'm not really up on the one piece fitness machines but I am a Chuck Norris fan. Maybe look at a total gym? Find some reviews comparing a couple? There is always the body weight routine plus yoga. Good luck!

I do a group fitness class at lease once a week (kick boxing, total body conditioning, triple fit, etc) and I think most men are REALLY missing out on a quality athletic workout. I have not done zumba yet, but mainly because the gyms schedule does not fit my schedule.

In order to lose body fat without losing weight is going to involve a heavy lifting program and eating at a very slight or no deficit and keep your cardio to a minimum (you don't have to eliminate cardio, just cut down) You want to hold on to every bit of muscle that you can and only make the fat disappear. A "normal" diet…

You can always say "Can I work in with you?". They will either say "Sure" or at lease will say "I've only got X number of sets left" but they are on notice that you would like to use the machine.

As one macho guy to another macho guy, drop the soap for face washing and get a good cleanser made specifically for mens faces. We really need a macho guy smiley.

Basically do what you can do and you'll get better almost each time. You aren't worthless and screw anybody that thinks so. Your worth as a person is not determined by downward dog or bold warrior or twisted sister. Just be your warm wonderful self and have a good time.

I believe that all calories in the food are accounted for in the ingredients listing so no, you do not have to log the fat separately.

Try and make sure that you are really warmed up before going full bore into the 30DS workout, like almost sweating warmed up. And/or convert the 30DS workout into a low impact workout, take it down a few notches, no jumps or quick movements, just slow and easy. (well maybe, I have never seen the 30DS workout so I may just…

www.jpfitness.com is operated/moderated by Lou Schuler, the author of all the NROL books and there is a sub-message board for each of his books. There should be some great info there. I've done the original NROL and it was great. The routines were simple, varied and produced the expected results. I'm not sure how strong…

I am one more apt to change every six weeks or so (and I am an experienced lifter). If I go more than 8 weeks on the same routine I stopped progressing and have a tendency to injure myself. Changes can be done with set and rep schemes. For example, you have been doing squats 3 times for 10 reps, a change would be 5 sets…

The scientific definition of a calorie is the amount of heat it takes to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water 1 degree Celsius but what we need to know is it takes a deficit of 3,500 calories in order to lose one pound. You can not eat 3,500 calories in a week or you can exercise an extra 3,500 calories in a week or…

Jiminy Christmas! What a role model and you look incredible. Good For You!!!

I think everyone is going to tell you that you cannot spot reduce so sit ups are not really going to help (they don't hurt mind you, they just will not make your stomach fat go away). With men, the stomach is usually the first place we gain fat and of course, it is also the last place we lose fat. Keep up your dieting…

Yoga also has some good to great mental benefits that may aid you as you recover from the illness and emotional pressures you spoke of. It is a good start and likely will meet all your present goals. Some time in the future you may want to expand your workouts but again, I think yoga would be a good start.

Boxing/boxercise or heavy bag work (with hand protection).

An oldie Doors "There's a killer on the road, his brain is squirming like a toad" Sounded to me like: "There's a killer on the road, his name is Squirrelly Lanky Joe" Hey, it makes as much sense my way as the right way.
