  • HAH!
  • Hi Melinda, welcome and best of luck!
  • Daily.... as a science nerd, I like to monitor as much as possible... the more data points, the better....
  • A lot of people lose quite a bit and don't notice it.... its hard to notice the weight loss because we see ourselves every day.... its not until clothes stop fitting and little tasks get easier that we really notice. Best of luck.... try out the Wii Fit 30 minute island free run... thats about the best workout the Wii Fit…
  • Pregnant cats look like footballs! I miss having a bunch of tiny kittens around.... we had a cat give birth to 6 kittens a few years ago and got rid of all but 2 of them. Having all of those kittens around was awesome.... now that they're adolescent they act like they hate me, but I know its not true. ;)
  • Exercise makes this all so much easier... I can eat a lot more junk if I just take the time to exercise.... and it makes me feel amazing.... I think I'm in the best shape I've been since high school, right now, and it is just great!
  • First couple weeks are the hardest.... but have also the most weight loss.... good work getting through them! Just keep sticking with it and make sure you have your goal set to a level where you are comfortable so that it is easy to keep motivated and your cravings are minimal.... the next few months will be amazing!
  • I could really use this to happen.... I lost a lot in the chest, waist, and some in the face, but the gut hasn't budged as much as I'd like.
  • I've really just started really noticing.... 20ish lbs in and my pants are not fitting, my shirts are fitting better. Its harder to notice yourself since, well, you see you every day, constantly. I definitely felt much healthier almost immediately after starting to exercise and not eating garbage constantly.
  • There's no way you're not more fit... exercising must be putting on muscle weight which means you look better and feel better.... that is what we're all here for, right? Like mindy said, start doing body measurements rather than just looking at the scale and see if you're losing there. If your clothes are fitting better,…
  • I agree... Definitely aliens.... I've not been "myself" since I started doing this (this time).... I'm getting up early, I'm not eating garbage (mostly), I'm running every morning (why would someone run? what are they running from??).... crazy stuff. Good post, glad things are working out for you so well!
  • Thats why they call them haters.... If you only have 10 haters now, you better be figuring out how to get to 16 haters by July....
  • I definitely gained 5 or so lbs when I started working out and eating better.... its mostly just water weight.... I started losing pretty rapidly after that. He should stick with it and not be so cynical. Working out and eating better is not going to make you *less* fit.... so he should quit whining and start taking care…
  • Horrible..... horrible news.... that is twice in 4 years for the Rangers organization.... puts a damper on the rest of this season....
  • Try switching it up.... Jack and Diet isn't so bad.... Rum and Diet is even better.... I have been sticking with Bud Light most times lately, its easy to keep track of.
  • All very much in moderation: Mcdonald's: Egg McMuffin, Hamburgers, Southwest Chicken Salad Burger King: Double Cheeseburger and small fries is about half of my daily calories... Wendys: Side Salad, Chili, baked potato, hamburger Chipotle: Bowl is about half of my daily calories... Jersey Mike's: Regular or mini turkey sub…
  • I eat fast food nearly daily and still have been losing just fine.... as long as you make smart choices you're ok.
  • Wow! Awesome job... keep up the good work.
  • Welcome aboard.... best of luck.

  • I never understood how someone is not allowed to change things about themselves without being labeled a hypocrite or wishy-washy or whatever. Its total garbage.... if you eat bad, you do not always have to eat bad for the rest of your life because you currently do. What the heck is the point of life if you're not allowed…
  • Everyone always preaches "diet and exercise"... and for the longest time I'd do one or the other and see some results, but not what I would hope.... but this site has really got me in the habit of doing "diet and exercise".... and believe it or not... it works! Good luck!
  • My mother is terrible at doing this sort of thing. Some people thing every day is cheat day! :-|
  • Hah.... I know the feeling!

  • Yeah, you really should be logging fruits and veggies.... the idea that they are "free" is kind of silly.... every little bit adds up, I've learned that its better to be conservative and log everything than to leave anything off. Personally, I've done both WW and MFP.... and I really like the freedom of MFP... WW makes you…
  • You can totally do it without surgery.... but be prepared to work very hard. Eat better and exercise and don't expect overnight results.... be prepared for a lifestyle change.... not a diet. The place you need to start for motivation is here: http://bendoeslife.tumblr.com/page/269
  • The funny thing about calorie counting is that I KNOW it works... I've done it before to quite a bit of success, and then stopped for absolutely no reason.... its taken me a month to get back down to the weight level I was at last time I quit calorie counting. This time is working much better, actually, I think I figured…

  • It will happen.... push hard and don't let the scale get you down. Focus on how good eating better makes you feel. Make sure you are not overestimating activity and underestimating calorie intake and you will be fine.

  • Keep with it.... it will work.... a couple weeks and eating well and losing weight will simply be another part of your routine.
  • I don't get too much grief, so far.... but I do have a few enablers that I have to deal with constantly who seem disappointed when I'm not stuffing my face. I think most people who are condescending toward people who count calories are really just insecure about their own eating habits.... its actually quite obviously…
