Omega 3-6-9 helps keep my depression from recurring. It works very well for me. I wouldn't recommend it over antidepressants for someone that's currently depressed but taking it makes me feel like I have some small method of defense and it keeps me mindful of symptoms of depression that I should watch out for. Iron keeps…

Oh, I've just remembered- another time in Texas we were getting ready for our Army PT session at the university track. It was just before 5 am & all us cadets were idling our way over to the field to get started. A very old man sprinted by us and yelled, "GET MOVING. You can walk when you get to Iraq!" We weren't running…

I think mine would be all the wildlife. The other day I ran past a monkey climbing a security gate. I've run past zebra, boks, and wildebeast recently. It's part of the beauty of living in South Africa. Once (in Texas) I was in an orienteering race where I dislocated my knee. No one else was around to help so I had to…

I silently cheer for people I see running; especially the ones that I haven't seen before that look like they're just starting out. Good for you! Keep at it!

I keep high sugar fruits around the house (watermelon, apples, bananas) so I won't feel the need to bring sweets in the house. If a friend buys a candy bar for me I promise myself I won't eat more than half in a day- I put the rest away for when I really want it. I usually break it into fourths & then have two pieces that…

I prefer running & I seem to get into the best shape when I'm running but cycling is what helps me the most. I had knee surgery at 21 because of sports injuries & I can't run as often or as far as I'd like but I can cycle all day.

Haha, I've happily been a vegetarian for 11 years now but for some reason got all drool-y over some of those burgers. I blame the fact that there were onion rings present. And those cookies- they look like all I'd like to eat for the rest of my life. WHY can't veggies look as appetizing as those cookies?

I ate a whole 15 lb watermelon in under 3 days by myself. And counted it. It's "healthy" because it's fruit (but WHOA the sugar) so I try not to beat myself up over it, but it still counts.

11 lbs would be beyond wonderful but at the rate I'm going 5 lbs is more realistic. And I hope not to gain anything as a result of holiday parties.

If I know it's coming (like birthday treats or something) I'll plan to have a little. Otherwise I don't think of it as free food. I think of it as free fat. That usually stops me.

I take a calcium pill with added vit. D in the morning with an Omega 3-6-9 pill. (Most people get enough Omega 6 & 9s.) At lunch I take an iron pill. If you take multiple pills as I do make sure you don't get ones that'll cancel each other out. For instance, calcium blocks iron absorption & caffeine blocks both iron &…

I went a little haywire with caramel apples but only ended up 149 calories over my goal. The sugar goal, on the other hand, was blown out of the water. Went for a run this morning to negate the caramel.

That is wonderful. Not the troll, of course, but the story as a whole. I don't really get mean things said to me but my face seems to naturally settle into a I-will-hurt-you glare, so I'm betting that's why. My great grandma used to tell me I was too fat for anyone to like me but I didn't care.

Jillian Michael's low cal brownies (90 cals for a decent size one) are a-freakin-mazing. I like them better than regular brownies. http://www.cinnamonspiceandeverythingnice.com/jillian-michaels-low-calorie-brownies/

When in doubt I throw things in salads and/or omelettes. ETA: Some recipes http://www.kalynskitchen.com/2006/05/sauteed-asparagus-with-melted.html http://picky-palate.com/2008/04/10/oh-how-i-love-pasta/ http://www.kalynskitchen.com/2009/11/recipe-for-roasted-brussels-sprouts.html…

As a missionary I can vouch for this. I made caramel apples for coworkers (they get spoiled on all the American holidays they don't celebrate). I didn't eat dinner beforehand. I ate 2 heaping tablespoons of caramel. So! Who's up for a run in the morning?

Haha, my mom LOVED Reeces peanut butter cups. We'd go through my candy & I never got a single one. There was always a tiny little tear in the wrapper so I couldn't have it. My mom had to take all of them away every year. By the time I was 9 I could check my own candy & I just gave them to her. We stayed in our little…

My parents- they tell me I'm too thin if I get near a mid-range healthy BMI. It amuses me because my mom had an eating disorder when she was a model and my dad is the reason I can't eat mayo or salad dressing- he told me they were "fat people food" when I was 11. You'd think they'd want a kid in the healthy range. But I…

My general (vegetarian) plan: Breakfast - 150ish (1/2 pack of oats & daily vitamins) Snack - 120ish (greek yogurt / mixed nuts / fruit) Lunch - between 200 & 450 (200 is all veggies, usually add veggie burger & all the fixings in there to bring it up to 450) Snack - 100ish (1 Tbsp peanut butter is my weakness) Dinner -…

I was having the same problem. I played around with what I was tracking & realized that my 2 cups of watermelon snack spiked my sugar enough to make me hungrier & more likely to eat peanut butter & bread (more carbs / sugar) later in the day. Apples were doing the same thing. I switched to snacks with higher fat & protein…

Mine turned purple & fell off after about 3 weeks. No big deal, it didn't hurt & the new nail grew back nicely. Are you trail running or road running? If I trail run in shoes that are slightly too big I have that problem but if I road run when my shoes are too small I have the same problem. Either way it's the shoes. If…

Now that your mystery has been solved I'm going slightly off-topic. I used to work with unaccompanied refugee minors in the US. They definitely did not like our food, especially the kids from Sudan, Somalia & the DRC. We were able to find a small grocery store (via google) that sold central-African food; goat, walkie…

I would've told her to bite me. I can't afford the gym anymore but I go running or cycling every day. When construction workers say obscene things as I run past I ream them out. My threshold for things like that is about as low as it can get. Maybe I wouldn't have told an old lady to bite me when I had my fancy gym…

Small apple 2 cups of watermelon Brown bread with a teaspoon of peanut butter Chips & cookies if I'm not careful at work :embarassed:

I also find after a long run (12km +) on a hot day if I wait until I start to get nauseated to eat something it's already too late. Now I bring Jelly Tots or Energade Gummies with me & have at least a few within 15 minutes of finishing the run. Ugh, that's a horrible feeling.

The reason the British (and many of their former empires) drive on the left side of the road is because most people are right handed. In times where people travelled on horseback & had to be wary of maurauders they would have a sword strapped to their left hip so they could draw the sword with the right hand. Being on the…

Opossums don't carry rabies because their body temps are too hot to support it. They eat cockroaches, snakes & spiders. They don't typically hang from their tails in trees (but babies might). Learned that when an an orphaned opossum decided to take up residence in/around my house. My worthless hunting dog loved it. I'm…

I have a whole building to myself which makes hiding REALLY easy but the cleaning lady also wanted to hide in my building the whole day & she kept leaving the door unlocked which defeats the purpose. :grumble:

I don't have a gym membership anymore but I cycle to work in the morning & home in the afternoon. It's easier for me to give an hour in the morning and 45 minutes in the afternoon to working out than staring down the barrel of a nearly 2 hour workout any other time of the day. Bonus: if I make it up in the morning I HAVE…
