  • Just curious to see what nutrients everyone tracks... Mine: Calories, Fat, Fiber, Protein, Sugar and Sodium
  • I totally needed this...I try SO hard not to weigh, becuase I'm always looking for that amazing number from the day before...so I'm almost always disappointed and while I KNOW there are daily flux, it still disappoints me to no end to see the numbers not dropping. Thanks!!
  • During the game would be a GREAT time to go to teh gym...empty, practically all to myself!!! That's actually a thought!
  • Yes, HRM is Heart Rate Monitor. I have a Polar F6, I LOVE it to death. It has a watch, calorie count, a stop watch, keeps a record of workout stats, can tell you the percentage of your heartrate that you are using, Beats per minute as well. You wear a chest strap and it sends a signal to the watch you wear/put in your…
in HRM? Comment by goochinator January 2009
  • That's probably my next step- knee brace. I had one before that worked well whenever I felt a pull or something, so I'll likely try that again. I do tend to overdo it a bit when I'm REALLY motivated...I forget that I'm not Lance Armstron, Kerry Walsh or Micheal Phelps...my own fault, I need to learn my limitations!!…
  • Yes, I love Icy hot!! I've been using that at night and its helped a lot..but I dont it during the day, I fear the smell will send my co-workers out to hunt me down... I'm trying hot baths, Ibuprofen and pain patches as well...they do work, but its kind of all temporary. I know if I were to work out I'd re-injure it…
  • ME ME ME!!!! Any old emotion will do for this chick...oh yes- anticipation, worry, boredom, stress, annoyed, curious whatever...its gotten SO much better, but I still have to keep it in check. One thing I noticed for sure is that I ate to soothe over my feelings...i ate to cover them up, distract myself from feeling…
  • I've been SUPER motivated at the gym and apparently a little too much so as I've hurt my knee...so I'm taking it easy and either not going to just doing upper body....but I want to go and get in some great workouts before I lose my mojo and dont feel the motivation anymore. :grumble: :grumble: :grumble: how do I make it go…
  • I do about 30-40 minutes of cardio, and I have a HRM so I know exactly how many calories to eat- but while lifting weights, my HR is NOT that high( once I cool down from cardio0...in fact its pretty much normal- should I still be eating those calories too? I'm thinking I shoudl cut the calories eaten at cardio...what do…
  • This is actually interesting- On Saturday I ate a pretty heavy meal, then did a killer workout about 20 minutes later and I felt fine- so tit will be interesting to see what people have to say.
  • Thanks! Oh but eating more scares me....maybe I'll try going up just a little.
  • According to my HRM, Saturday I did 35 minutes and burned 400 calories...I was beyond impressed with myself...but man,you guys KICK TAIL on that thing!! WOW!!! I guess I have a lot to live up for, now that I know it CAN be done! Although according to MFP, I burned like 600-something calories- for me that's WAY off!!
  • Hunny, dont despair!!! :flowerforyou: I've SO been where you are!! When I first started at my gym, i saw the elliptical and thought it looked like fun. I was bored of the treadmill and I noticed a woman much larger than me kicking butt on it. So of course I thought I can do that!! WRONG. I believe I lasted about THREE…
  • By the way- here's the article I found on Fear of Success- http://www.livestrong.com/article/14659-handling-fear-of-success/ There are some mental excercises on it...but I'm afraid to do those too, if I get past the fear of succes, then I'll be expected to actually succeed...and what if I cant? Geez, I annoy myself…
  • I read about this too on the Weight Watchers chat board..for some, being overweight means being somewhat 'invisible' so to speak...people often didnt see the person, they saw the fat. Once people start noticing that there is a person behind the fat and make positive comments, it can often 'scare' a person back in to…
  • Has anyone ever heard of this? I've been doing some reading on it to see if this is what prevents me from reaching a goal I've wanted badly for more than half my life...I do incredibly well, then bam! nothing happens/something happens and I go back to my old habits and undo my hard work... I've heard it has to do with low…
  • YES, YES...I need to remember that. I am feeling 'smaller' so to speak, whether its in my head or not, I dont know. ...and it JUST NOW occurred to me...we just got a fat measuring scale - did I bother to look to see if the percentage of fat increased or decreased? nope...didnt even think of that. D'oh!!
  • The first 2 weeks I was doing MFP, I had a hard time staying within my calories- many days I went over by a a few to a couple of hundred...I lost like 6 pounds-?- I think it was. The second two weeks I was perfectly within my calories, worked out pretty hard ( at least a level 6-8) ate my excorcise calories, etc...and I…
  • I'm big on sugar free candies too...The Hershey's, Dove and Russell Stover S/F candies are great!! But BEWARE...the sugar alcohol content can have a laxative effect. Eat in moderation when first starting out!! My favorites are Sugar free gummy bears. ( from natural foods store) That laxative effect? Hard to avoid with…
  • those sounds REALLY good!!
  • Is there an actual calorie count for the Wii/Wii fit games?
  • I got Wii Outdoor fitness challenge for Xmas...its A LOT of fun- definitely work too...all kinds of different stuff- havent opened them all up yet though...I'd recommend it.
  • I heard lst night at my gym's 'fuel cafe' ( they make and sell protein drinks, energy drinks & bars, etc) that the body can only process 20 grams of protien at a time... Is that true? I just had a lunch that had 29 grams of protien...so what happens over 20g's? is it just eliminated or something?
  • It happens- even professional athletes and supermodels have bad eating days- You can either move on and not feel guilty or you can step up your excerise here and there and see if you can work off some extra One thing I've done before and it NEVER works is trying to cut back on eating to make up the 900 calorie overage...it…
  • check out recipe sites like www.allrecipes.com or www.recipezaar.com there are lots of soups on there that you could alter to your tastes.
  • I use psyllium husk powder ever few days- works like a charm- be sure to drink lots of water with it though. One thing I tried several months ago was a Total Body Cleanse from Whole Foods- totally worked wonders!!
  • I have a similar situation, although mine is not a friend...its a co-worker. Ms. co-worker will constantly shove food in my face and bring it to my desk...I realized she was not trying to be helpful, but trying to de-rail me as co-workers had noticed my changes and improvements, making comments about looking good and what…
  • I LOVE my Polar F4...its really easy to use, features are clock, stopwatch, HRM with chest strap ( really quite comfy, considering) and calorie count. I love that it tells me how many calories I burn during a workout . Plus its REALLY easy to use...I'm not always good with gadgets and stuff, but this was easy to figure out…
  • I've seen this before where the amount of almonds were cut in half, the bacon was turkey bacon and the cheese was a lower fat cheese- and the mayo was light mayo...made a big difference in the nutrition content
  • I have a significant amt to lose too- I am going 100% by MFP calorie recommendations for 1 lb loss/week. That is enough for me right now. So far so good. Definitely drink drink drink water. I've heard several times befor to drink 1/2 your body weight in water...it does make a difference.
