ugh running in the winter is a challenge. Look up screw shoes. They are for running when it's icy. You can buy them or fashion them yourself. I hate running on the tredmill because it's soooooo boring but sometimes the weather is just too much for me to overcome.

yeah you just want to be sure that the caffeine isnt masking a different more serious problem. =)

Wow you are rocking it! Isn't it funny how runs can one day be horrible and then another day be amazing? So important to remember this. I admire you for training for a marathon! You will be in a very elite group of people! Congrats!
-
haha I don't mind a little jiggle and neither does my husband. But I get your point.
-
That's a good point! Never thought of it that way!

That's very true. So when evaluating whether or not I should lose more weight or stay where I am, do you think I should go with my reaction to the pictures? Because based on the pictures I don't think I should lose anymore weight, but going by the mirror I think maybe I should lose a couple more.

Check out some books by Jeff Galloway. He has really good ideas for people starting out. He advocates for more of a run/walk method, but you don't have to follow that specific part of it. You're friends are partly right though. It is considered wise by most runners to build what is called base mileage where you don't worry…

I don't think you will piss anyone off. All the swimmers I've ever met at the gym are super nice and always willing to help. I like to go when there aren't very many people there so I don't have to share a lane. If you have a friend who is really good at swimming you could ask them to give you some pointers or reassure you…

oh and also...Some running experts say (couldn't tell ya who) that you need as many easy days after your race as there were miles of the race. So for example, if you ran a 10 mile race, you should take at least 10 easy days after the race to recover. I'm not saying it's a hard and fast rule, and def not critical or works…

That happens to me too. I did a half marathon a couple months ago and after accomplishing that goal, I had a huge decrease in motivation. Something that helped was to set a running goal that was on the other end of the spectrum. For example I decided I was going to focus on speed for a while instead of distance. Or running…

My husband likes to eat things I don't like having around in the house. We make a compromise that I buy it for him and he keeps it at work or somewhere I can't find it.

I had the same experience on Monday. It was my first day, and I walked into the weight room and it was all these men looking at me like I don't belong there. Made me feel awkward. Don't give up! I decided I"m going to go back there and not let them intimidate me! In the end none of those people will be there to share in…

I'm 26 =) I'll add you.

Thanks everyone! I will definitely try these! I think starting with the 60% and working up is a good idea. =D

Also, have you ever checked out www.runningahead.com ? It's a running website where you can log all your runs. There are lots of wise runners on there to give you running specific advice and encouragement too.

You can definitely do it. C25K is a great place to start. I have heard a lot of good things about it! I love that your kids are your inspiration!

I need help too! I will add you!

Thank you!!

for the purposes of your recipe, what you need to know is that steel cut oats take longer to cook, which is why they work well in the slow cooker, and why rolled oats don't work (the cooking time is too quick). I use steel cut oats in the slow cooker and it works pretty well. TIP: Only use steel cut oats and use a double…

The same thing has been happening to me. You might need to start having something with carbs in it in the middle of your long run. Like gatorade or a gel or something. The calorie deficit definitely has an affect on me as well. I lessen my deficit the day before and the day of my long run and it seems to help.

Could be plantar faciitis maybe
