Since you're already eating fish, the transition to poultry won't be as jarring to your system. When I transitioned from ovo-lacto back to eating meat, the first thing my doctor told me to do was incorporate fish. Definitely take it slow and see how your body reacts, but you probably won't have any problems unless you…

Foam rolling has helped my knee pain. I roll my glutes, quads, hamstrings, hips and both the inside and outside of my knees. Don't just do the knees, because you never know if tightness in one spot is causing referred pain in another. Here's a good how-to link (ignore the title if it offends you):…

Obviously... all those lazy hammers just hanging around, hoping someone will pick them up and put them to work. See what I did there? The puns! In all seriousness folks, I have nothing against hammers.
-
Yes. My parents hated hammers, so it's just how I was raised.

The only time I think I've been truly hit on by a stranger at the gym was something like this, but it turned into a discussion about nutrition as I attempted to politely decline because of the sugar. Turned out, the guy was not only a very brave pervert, he was also dumber than a box of hammers. I walked past one guy to…

Don't be intimidated! Just go for it! Definitely have a plan of attack so you're not standing around scratching your head or wasting time, but that's as much for you as it is for "them". The people who intimidate you are people working out, just like you. At worst, they won't care about what you're doing unless you're in…

You can make your own sweet potato chips in the microwave. Cut the ends off a sweet potato, and slice it as thin as you can into circles. Spray a plate with olive-oil flavored non-stick cooking spray (or even smear with actual olive oil if you're not afraid of healthy fats), spray the tops of the chips, season with…

This thread is hilarious! I am an upstanding citizen of a state where I'm not allowed to smoke pot, so I'm not saying I do, but some of my very close friends do. They would tell you there's nothing like getting baked and going for a run with the perfect playlist on your iPod.

I used to do this when I was little! I didn't use peas though. I did Ramen noodles without the seasoning, ketchup and a ton of black pepper.

So excited to make these. Thanks!

This looks awesome!

As for workouts, nerd fitness has an entire tab on the main page for "free resources" - a lot of tips on how to get good exercise at home using things you can find around the house and your own body weight. They also have videos so you can learn the proper form and whatnot. No gym needed. http://www.nerdfitness.com

This is also the first thing that came to my mind. More constructively, I have a suggestion for making the treadmill more bearable. I'm about to reveal the extreme level of my dorkiness here, but in addition to books on tape, I love listening to a free podcast called Stuff You Should Know while I'm on the treadmill. It's…

Cherubums brings up a good point about feeling hungry. Your body learns your patterns and tells you you're hungry accordingly. There was a few years where I was living off coffee and one or two meals a day and my body got used to not being fed, so I wasn't ever very hungry. When I decided to get serious about getting back…

I had a similar problem when I started counting calories. Most of what I would suggest has already been mentioned - avocado, peanut butter/almond butter, almonds, skim milk. I slice an avocado in half and just go after it with a spoon. It's an easy and portable snack with more calories than fruit or other things I was…

The third tip on this list has really worked for me in the past when I go through stages of really not wanting to work out. Instead of a book or magazine though, I've downloaded audiobooks to my iPod. When I find a really good, suspenseful book, I will be itching to go work out just so I can find out what happens next. I…

Excellent! Glad I could help! If I remember correctly, a few options came up when I searched "Couch to 5K" in the app store. I got the one by active.com.

I don't know of any website that does this, but if you download the C25K app on your iPod (a whopping $1.99, totally worth it) it will tell you when to walk, jog, walk briskly, etc. You can pick songs from your iTunes and make a C25K playlist through the app and when it's time to switch to jogging or walking, the music…

been2boston covered most of the things I was going to say about preparedness. Great advice! I would add that Bikram is no fun during the heaviest days of your TOM and reiterate that you want to hydrate like a mofo the entire day before class, drink during class and drink after class. Side note, I couldn't read your profile…

My diary is open! Feel free to peek creepster-style or add me as a friend. I've only been on MFP for a week or so... Since it's been such a short time and one night I went on a Kashi Roasted Veggie pizza binge and another night I had a bottle of red wine for "dinner" I may not look like the best plan to follow, but for the…

Hey new forum friend! I work from home, so I'm extremely lucky with meal flexibility in that regard. However, I have occasional weeks where I'm working on outside projects or whatever and for those weeks I do something similar to semperfit with the pre-cooking and weighing. I buy some chicken breasts, grill them, cut them…

Secretlobster has a good point. Personally though, I save ball-punching as a Plan B. To each their own.

I agree with LovePBandJ. If it was a one-off thing, it could be really awkward for both of you to bring it up. The other bit advice I have is that in my experience, a good trainer can be hard to find. If you really click with this guy, give him some time. If you jump ship you may end up playing musical trainers for weeks…

I'll also be your friend! I'm new on here and I absolutely love this community. I only have a few friends so far, but they are so amazing!

I had a similar problem before I joined this site, which wasn't that long ago, so I only have this week to go by. After losing a few pounds in a few weeks on a strict, fairly low calorie diet, I plateaued, then gained 8 lbs. My diet was immaculate and developed with my original trainer and I'm pretty active so I was very…

Hook 'Em, Horns! I have relocated to Mizzou territory, but I'll always love my Texas Longhorns!

I sent you a friend request! I log every day and I'm pretty good about eating healthy.

Hi! I graduated from law school in May and just joined this site. I would love friends and support as I work to lose the 30 lbs. I managed to pack on during the past three years. I moved to the city I'm in for law school and don't have a wide circle of non-legal community friends. While those friends are amazing to binge…
