• Hi there, ANYTHING and EVERYTHING can be addictive to a person. Training can be addictive, a person's company can be addictive, a pet, work, music, shopping, family, drugs, guns or a prostitute's company can be addictive. The fact that a generic word (addiction) means different things to different people does not change a…
• Absolutely. May be the only way for some.
• Hi there, I have a Withings scale ( I think now owned by NOKIA). It syncs with MFP through a connection with their website or app. It is WiFi and Bluetooth capable. I am not sure what their max lbs is. I am happy with it. I got it a few years back. It has some weird BF% numbers which of course are bogus. It also gives you…
• Michelle first of all there is bad information everywhere you look. Nothing you read or hear or you have ever learned is entirely true. It is true only if you believe it. I agree with you though. It is not right to claim things that they are not entirely true. It is immoral because open minded and easily manipulated people…
• WTH was made to provoke thought and discussion. We are surrounded by misinformation since the day we are born. No one should ever base his existence on a low budget video. The question is, why do we choose to attack a half truth presented in documentaries like WTH and pass on others that tell us exactly what we want to…
• Weighing twice a week and basic measurements twice a month. Comparing my weight, measurements, MFP food log and Garmin Connect gives me a good idea about what I need to correct and what actually works for me. I use a Withings (now NOKIA) scale. The BF% advertised of course is a gimmick. Everything else works good. Good…
• Absolutely. Teaching a kid what and how to eat properly is the parent's duty. Forcing kids to count calories for no apparent reason it seems kind of abusive to me. We teach our kids how to use scissors, computers, knives, forks, hammers and everything else. Counting calories fits into "learn how and use it when/if needed".
• Thank you and janejellyroll for your responses. I see veganism as a full measure environmental activism. Your responses clarify to me that common sense and reason should override "black or white" rules sourced by the internet. Boiling a dead animal's bone for 24 hours and then drink its juice, apart from being as horrible…
• Thanks for your response. What about the products that he/she already owns? I understand that "parading" in the office wearing a belt made of cow skin is unethical and disgusting, but if I throw it in the trash wouldnt it become waste thus environmentally unethical?
•
At the risk of repeating myself: People don't give up fur, beeswax candles, leather, wool, animal entertainment, and lanolin in lotion for health reasons. Veganism is an ethical position on animal exploitation.
I apologize for the hijack here but I have a question. With 12000 posts in this forum, I m sure…
• I am vegan for a month now. Mostly for ethical reasons and lowering my carbon footprint. I dont have any major health issues yet, but I can always get healthier. Looking for friends too and I will send you a request!
• New to veganism here (30 days tomorrow). I am Greek so I am used to eating a lot of plants in different ways. My problem is the social aspect. Participating in lunches/dinners with friends/co-workers/clients, celebrations/parties. But I ll get used to it at some point. I am in my 40s so I have eaten my share of pigs, cows,…
• I think it all comes down to how this person lost weight. Extreme diets make people look old and worn out. On the other hand, people who met their goal after hundreds of miles of cardio, tons of weights and balanced diet look better because they feel better, may be younger too.
• Hi there, I dont know about "exceptional" but I have 2. The Polar FT7 and Zephyr HxM. They both do what they are supposed to do. I prefer the Zephyr due to the fact that uses BT and works well with my Galaxy S2. The reason I use HRMs is to only monitor my heart rate since I am not "sold" on the calories burnt feature. Good…
• If that s a joke, it s kind of funny because I like sarcasm! Otherwise it s just sad
• I just drink a glass of water before I start getting ready and may be half a square of dark chocolate. Some how it acts like "speed" to me. If it s above 70°F (@ 6am) I take a bottle of cold water with me) but if it s nice and dry out I dont. Above all I found out that to work out before 7am well, I need at least 7 hours…
• That was very informative! Thank you!
• Hi everybody, what an interesting thread! As I grew up in restaurants, worked, managed and owned several and in different countries i will tell you this: Providing nutritional info on my "Soupe du Jour", would have been the least of my problems as a restaurant owner. Restaurant owners evolved and are evolving their…
• Thanks for your reply, I knew it in theory too that getting less sleep wont help with weight loss but it seems like it is counter productive. Last year when I was sleeping a little more and had a little less stress it was much easier to lose weight. This year so far sucks! I think I am going to experiment with: Less…
• Since you do a lot of walk/jog/running I suggest you invest at a HRM so you can have a pretty good idea about how much you burn each time. If you are still not happy with the amount burnt, increase your pace. Keep it up!
• Hi there, You are doing great! But..you are growing impatient... It s just a little more BF that has to be burnt. As has been stated many times, unfortunately we cant choose the BF part we wont to loose. Keep the good work and good things will come!
