Just finished the engine 2 diet challenge and have been transitioning to WFPB eating style for about four months and was ready to go meat free. I don't think I'll be as militant on the oils and flours, but with creativity and making it fun, this is a doable lifestyle. We grilled carrot dogs for the fourth and they were awesome! Any ideas for good recipes or plant-based websites would be appreciated.4

I could use some help in the higher fat - enough protein while aiming for low carbs to reduce my flesh to 4oz week. That low carb thing is making creating challenge for me, as I really enjoy beans the way many can do chicken 365 kinds of ways!

I am plant based, wanting to transition to vegan. I've watched the documentaries on Netflix (What the Health, Forks over Knives, Engine 2, etc) My family isn't on board with me, it's hard sometimes. I post daily and I exercise. I have a problem with planning food while I'm doing errands. I end up stopping at fast food places and eating crap (no meat though). I sent friend requests to the ones above. Feel free to add me.8

Prepping is really key. We started making sure we have containers of various beans, onions, chopped veggies and baby spring 50/50mix around to throw something together quickly and since we live far out we generally take a small cooler with us. It's 60 miles to the closest large town with sprouts or a whole foods store, so planning for the inevitable long day is a habit. One of our go to's for a quick snack or meal is whole wheat, hummus for condiment, sliced cukes, or other veggies, tomato, onion, and spring mix. Fast, simple and keeps well, especially if you toast the bread. My wife was not keen about all veggies at first, but with making fun and creative dishes she has come around. She does not like cooked carrots, but she ate carrot hot dogs on the fourth and had it for lunch again on the 5th, so it was a win on the veggie front. :-)5 -
I used to be vegan but switched to pescatarian (health issues, long story). I still eat plant-based 75% if the time.0

I'm so ready to go full vegan NOW. I don't want to wait until the weekend or after the next holiday. Not eating meat isn't really a problem for me. Like Smileydd23, eating processed and junk food is my problem. My husband is not on board and buys all kinds of processed snacks and ice cream. I will have to get real about my health and hope that one day my husband will be on board.5

@joann9991 have you tried meal prepping? I've been vegan for a couple of weeks now and found it found it to be super helpful. I also have a vegan chocolate protein shake that I end up replacing one of my meals with almost daily, so that takes a lot of the overthinking out of it right there3

I am vegan for a month now. Mostly for ethical reasons and lowering my carbon footprint.
I dont have any major health issues yet, but I can always get healthier.

I go to whole foods and Natures Food patch and attend as many Free for cooking classes pertaining to Plant Based lifestyle.
Ive been No meat, cheese, eggs, butter since July 12.
Down 12 lbs so far.
Feeling better, still adjusting.

My son (18) and husband still ate everything in sight when I went plant based 2 years ago. I didn't make a big deal of it, just modified my meals and kept making theirs. A month ago they stood in front of me and asked me to not buy them cow's milk or anymore meat. My face hit the floor with shock. It's a big more prep work for me now but it's worth it. I'll send blessings and good vibes that maybe one day you'll get the same shock. If you don't that's ok, you keep doing you!0 -

Hi! I'm new to the whole food, plant-based lifestyle. Fortunately my husband is supportive and is trying to change (he loves meat!). But it's a challenge to make WFPB meals that my 5yo triplets will eat. Also, for some reason WFPB meal planning seems harder than omni meal planning. So any quick, tasty recipes would be greatly appreciated. As well as the friendly support!1

Lacto-ovo vegetarian. Struggling with lowering carbs when the majority of my proteins are high in carbs too (e.g. lentils and chickpeas). Any suggestions besides tofu?
I eat eggs but to be honest I just don't love it - but it's been the easiest way for me to get a low carb protein.1 -
New to the journey. Hubby and I are moving into Flexitarian. Was vegetarian a few years back but got off track. Looking for vegan, vegetarian, flexitarian support. Recipes, snack ideas, community base and accountability. Also hard to find a way to exercise regularly wuth a newborn in tow.1

I'm about 80 to 90% plant based. I follow Mediterranean food pyramid. If I do eat meat its going to be fish 99% of the time. Changing really helped me with energy levels, digestion troubles, and I lost a bout 30 lbs over the last year. Anyone here feel free to add me.1

I become vegetarian in 1996. When I become pregnant in 2007 I started eating meat. After my son was born in 2008 went back to vegetarian. I have went back and forth a few times because my husband and son both are meat eaters. I am returning to vegetarian and hopefully by my birthday in September I will return to vegan. Nice to have support during this journey!1

hi everyone, I also have have a plant based diet however I do still indulge in fish and chicken at times for dietary purposes. but salads and mushrooms are the staple of my diet right now. can't have fruit. i'm still new to the mfp and looking for and learning different methods to add protein to my diet. I know that meat is a source of protein but not necessarily the best source but will do (sometimes) until i find other methods. started looking at powdered protein online yesterday.0

I have gone vegetarian (more towards vegan) this past weekend. I eased into it last week and this weekend was 100% I decided to make the switch after watching a couple of documentaries and reading Eat to Live. So far I am loving how I feel and have slept so much better after removing processed foods. I'm excited to see how I feel and changes in my body after I've been on it for several months and years even. Feel free to add me!2
