  • I always found peppermint tea (drunk as hot as you can stand it and unsweetened) combined with a heat pack held against the tummy to be the best solution. Hope it just turns out to be a tummy bug x
  • If they help you stay full, fit into your calories and if you are generally eating a varied diet, they are fine. You have to find what works for you.
  • Oh darlin'. A guy would ask you on a date because he thinks you'd be a cool person to spend an evening with, and would like to see whether you get on well enough to spend lots of evenings with. Also, he probably thinks you're sexy. First off, I have no idea what you look like but I can 100% guarantee you are somebody's…
  • You're not overreacting. It's your body! You're the boss of it! No excuses or reasons needed! Yep it's awkward, but HE made it awkward by repeatedly touching you in an intimate place without your permission. It is absolutely OK to make a fuss if someone does that to you. If he finds it an uncomfortable conversation, he can…
  • I agree that you've left plenty of room to just enjoy it without worrying. However, cityruss is right that you haven't accounted for oil/butter which is likely to be in the potatoes at the very least. It shouldn't derail your efforts though.
  • Yep I've been there. I've done 'oh well, I've already screwed up today so I might as well go nuts' and it's close relative 'I'm going to have Chinese AND ice cream AND a bottle of wine because this is my last chance!' I've been working really hard to change the mental record so now I say 'One slip up doesn't need to undo…
  • Those aren't cheats, sweetie. It's good to have foods you enjoy in moderation and you're losing weight so you're obviously not overdoing it. Well done on your loss.
  • Never mind disrespectful to your husband. It's a whole lot more disrespectful to you. It wouldn't be appropriate if you were single, divorced or gay, either. You asked him not to touch an intimate area and he laughed and continued. That's not wrong because your *kitten* is the property of another man, that's wrong because…
  • What kind of food are you transporting? You can get wide mouth thermos containers that will keep things cold for hours and hours. Something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thermos-FUNtainer-Food-Flask-Blue/dp/B004DGJLWU/ref=pd_cp_201_1 Also, I'm sorry this is obvious, but are you putting cold packs in with your lunch in…
  • I was a severe picky eater and I have made huge progress but it has been really hard work because (as I'm sure you know) even attempting to taste a 'no' food is really stressful. What I've found helpful: Blend and disguise - a lot of veg can be pureed and mixed in to sauces, soups etc. They will add bulk and nutrients but…
  • Good for you. Well done for catching yourself when you started to slip into unhealthy dieting habits. I'm glad you feel good, your body is probably happy you're nourishing it.
  • You've got to find a plan that is realistic for you. If breakfast doesn't suit you, don't have breakfast. Listen to your body. As long as you're eating a well balanced diet and getting plenty of nutrients it will keep you healthy regardless of what time of day you eat them. I'm not a breakfast eater, generally. Sometimes I…
  • When you say 'specialist', are we talking someone who sells weight loss products? Because I'm finding it hard to believe a doctor would suggest you eat only 750 calories a day and also do 600 cals of exercise. Frankly I'm amazed you're able to find the energy to get out of bed on that regime. 750 cals a day is a drastic…
  • It works better for me to reward myself for effort rather than progress. But it's usually just a bubble bath (my bubble baths are serious luxury) or a netflix binge. I do divide my weight loss up into mini goals which work out about every 3kg but they don't have a reward attached it's just a mental boost.
  • Congratulations on your weight loss and on the wedding!
  • I almost never wear make up. It just doesn't feel natural for me, I feel self conscious when I put it on because I'm not used to it. Sometimes I look at other ladies who put lots of time into their make up and I feel dull and dowdy by comparison and wish I had their confidence - however - I have had several friends confide…
  • If you wanted to eat more calories but you are full on your current diet, then simply switch out your fat-free options for the regular version. Have regular flora instead of the light kind (or real butter), have a full-fat yoghurt with your breakfast, real mayo in place of extra light etc. You could also tweak your cooking…
  • Yes, do this. If you're spending a lot of meal times there you are presumably contributing to the food anyway, so bring a lighter side dish, make them your own lower cal version of their usual meals to share (not in a preachy way, just that your home-made pizza will happen to be lower in calories) or chip in cash when they…
  • I think you answered your own question. Veggies are good for you but they are very bulky for not many calories. So naturally your stomach is full before you reach your calorie target. If you are a dancer then you are very active. Your body needs those calories to get through your training sessions and to repair itself from…
  • I want 'Thus though we cannot make our sun/Stand still, yet we will make him run' My husband wants, 'I volunteer for any resurrection program you invent.'
  • I know what you mean. I don't mind a bit of pink, but I don't feel the need to dress my daughter like a marshmallow every day. I just don't buy anything pink. She still gets pink gifts, but that's fine since I buy clothes in all sorts of colours. If she gets to an age where she decides pink is her favourite colour then I…
  • 'Suck it up' is not helpful advice for a person with depression. It's an illness. You can't just decide not to be depressed. Whether or not you all think he has reason to be depressed is irrelevant - much like diabetes or cancer, some people just get it even if there are no obvious reasons why. Telling someone they're a…
  • This doesn't sound like bribery, this sounds like a kind gesture. Good for you for all getting off with your friend to show support, but I don't think the park manager was being mean, I think he was trying to make up for an unpleasant experience. The rides aren't designed to upset people, it's just a safety feature. OP,…
  • I'm more successful in general when I don't have breakfast. I'm not usually hungry til 11 or 12 anyway, and if I do eat breakfast I want to snack soon afterwards. Add to that I am always peckish before bed, it's easier for me to stick to my goals if I skip breakfast and have a late snack. And that's what most of this comes…
  • We are the only creature that deliberately milks another animal, but other animals consume milk past infancy given the change. Cats and pigs love the stuff. Not that I'm disagreeing with the OP's choice to cut out milk if it helps. I developed lactose intolerance, so I really had no choice. I noticed no other benefits than…
  • When we looked into it two months ago, the cheapest we found was £855 per month for my one year old - that's for five days per week (higher per-day fee for part-time places). After 3 years the government contributes 15 hours per week so it goes down. It's actually more to send them to a basic nursery than it is to send an…
  • The calculators are just a guide, since everyone's metabolism is different, and we can usually only estimate our lean body mass and our activity levels. Now that said, you're a tall lady and 1750-1950 calories sounds pretty reasonable to me. If you are letting MFP calculate your calories, then it has already taken some…
  • 5'3, 180lbs, and wear a 16-18 (uk). Started at 210, also wearing size 18! But perhaps I was kidding myself and should've been a 20, hadn't bought many new jeans. That said, sizes are so screwy you can make things sound better or worse. I went through my wardrobe the other day - size 18=too tight, size 16=too loose, size…
  • First off I don't tell people that I'm dieting, which avoids many of the comments. But just practice smiling and ignoring it. Just say 'It's delicious, would you like a taste?' and not respond to comments about how many calories are in things. If they persist after you ignore it, say something like 'oh I thought you were…
  • I don't bother, unless I'm using some kind of pre-made seasoning packet (like the sachets of chilli spices) because those are often bulked up with cornstarch/flour/sugar.
