Ha! Alpen lights! I was trying to remember what you're supposed to use instead of digestive biscuits. Bloomin' alpen lights.

Speaking only for myself, I find when I'm on any sort of 'plan' which limits/restricts certain types of food I fall into a weird trap of searching for ways around it or ways to follow the letter of the law but not the spirit of it. Hence I find myself trying to approximate a cheesecake using quark, muller light and cocoa…

Sorry if I missed it, but how long have you been stuck at that weight for?

mwyvr - I read it as she travels 5-7 miles of which 3 is jogging, broken into smaller chunks. In which case surely she can log 3 miles jogging and 2-4 miles walking and still be correct?

I find the best thing for me is to keep some calories aside every day for chocolate (or ice cream, cake, whatever I'm craving). If I tell myself I can't have any, I feel deprived and it's impossible to resist goodies I come across. On the other hand, if I know I have a treat waiting for me later, it's easy to resist and…

Go to home, settings, diary settings. You will see boxes where you can edit the names of your meals so you could have them spread out into six meals if it suits you better.

Good luck! (I'm sorry, I'm sure you've thought of this but - are the batteries ok in your scales? Mine goes nuts when the batteries get low and if you're still using ones that came with it they're often cheap rubbish. If it's weighing wildly differently and you're not on an uneven floor and it's not the batteries, I'd…

Yes in theory, but your hunger or the anticipation of being hungry might well lead you to overeat on the other days to cancel it out. The brain plays tricks on us that way. You might also find that you move less (without meaning to) because you are low on fuel.

I noticed the chicken meal, too. That's really not enough food for an adult woman, but also it could be an estimation thing. The chicken breasts in my fridge right now are about 5oz a piece and they aren't particularly big, so the entry that says '1oz (half a breast)' is misleading. I also noticed that meal had no sauces,…

What works best for me is 'would I say that to my mum/best friend/a stranger in the shop changing rooms?' If the answer is 'No!' then I'm not allowed to say it to myself either, and I have to change it to something more positive. So 'You're so useless, you have no self control!' becomes 'Everyone has slip ups, I can learn…

OK a few things which I noticed might be logging problems. I don't see you logging any sort of butter etc - do you really have dry bread/toast every time? Even a thin spread of butter could be 100 cals you're not logging. Likewise it looks like one day you've just logged porridge oats - did you cook them in water and add…

I have the treats. If I'm craving chocolate, no quantity of frozen grapes or fat free vanilla yogurt will do. I find I eat the replacement snack, continue to crave, and eventually crave and have both. A small portion of pretty much anything can be part of a healthy diet. I eat my emotions, too, and there's no quick fix for…

Congratulations! Don't minimize your success, you're doing great!

You look amazing. Hard to believe you have another 50 to lose! Well done.

Not eating as such because I enjoy my food! But I do sometimes feel my whole day revolves around food. Plan meals, shop for food, put it away, prepare meals, clean up meals, prepare snacks, log food. Plus I have a tiny kitchen and two little ones so it can feel like a military operation getting varied balanced meals made.…

"Mini"? Massive success, way to go!

I like it as a vegetable, but I would feel deprived if I wanted pasta and had squash instead. But it's awesome that it works for you! I just wish it was easier to get round here. I meant to plant some this year and forgot and think I've left it too late.

Xylitol will stop yeast from working so no recipes which need yeast. It also doesn't caramelize so your cookies/cakes will look pale. In some people, it can have a laxative effect. If you're already using it as a sweetener regularly you're probably fine, if not, I'd experiment before doing a big batch of baking in case it…

Yes Zombies Run is the funnest* running experience I've had. But if you always dread running, find a different form of exercise. Don't make yourself miserable over it. *English is my first language too.

Who is doing the cooking? Ideally you want to weight the raw ingredients and stick them in the recipe builder along with the number of people you intend to feed. Then weight the whole finished dish and make sure you get the right amount of it. For example: Let's say I cooked 100g white rice (dry weight) 100g broccoli 100g…

I agree that you should probably speak to someone. Hopefully this is just a rough patch you are going through but it's a good idea to start changing those thought patterns to something healthier before it becomes a serious problem. In the mean time, here's a blog with a great common sense approach (in my non-expert…

What I'm hearing is that you've gone from a small family unit to a large, greatly overcrowded family unit with a lot of extra issues, conflict and financial pressure. And your husband is threatening to leave because you feel unhappy?! I'd be unhappy living in a two bedroom home with that number of people, unable to get any…

I'm nowhere near maintenance yet, but I'm already working on listening to my body in the hopes that one day I can maintain without logging. I imagine I'll still run new recipes through the calculator to make sense of it, but I have a pretty good idea of what's a light meal and what's more calorific, which snacks provide…

Congratulations on finding something that worked for you, and on your weightloss. I'd be happier giving up the wine and keeping the potatoes, but it's good that you found your own path.

I don't know if others will agree with me on this, but I'd sort of count the first couple of weeks of calorie logging as 'practice' and not be too hard on yourself. If you're not used to this method, it will take some time to figure out which meals are satisfying enough to keep you full/functional, what's worth the time to…

Coconut cream is very high cal, smooth texture, not to strong flavour and light coloured so might be a winner. If you put a can of coconut milk in the fridge for a bit the cream will solidify on top. You can whip it up with cocoa powder and maple syrup (or your daughter's flavours of choice) to make a lovely sort of…

Does it have to be cereal and does it have to keep you full until lunchtime? Yeh I know that's what you asked but.... if you know you always get hungry mid-morning, is there anything preventing you having a planned snack then? My two most filling breakfasts are greek yoghurt with granola and eggs poached in tomato passata…

Expensive, bland, and not that nutritionally varied. Jars of baby food are to help babies get used to flavours and textures of solid food and learn to eat it, but babies of that age are still getting the bulk of their nutrition from milk. Even the meaty baby food flavours are mostly pureed veg and fruit. So aside from the…

Set yourself up to win! Plan snacks so you're never ravenous. Only cook a small portion of a food you're likely to overeat - you might gobble down an extra serving of pasta, but you're less likely to go and cook yourself a whole second helping from scratch. Don't buy family sized chocolate bars or multipacks - when you've…

It really depends on your relationship. Do you have the kind of communication where you can say, 'hey, we both need to get into some healthy habits for this baby?' While in theory she should be keeping an eye on her eating during pregnancy (excessive weight gain can mean complications and a harder time recovering her…
