Recommend a running belt for UK size 18?
I fancy a flipbelt or similar (stretchy belt without fasteners for holding keys, phone etc while running). Most seem to go up to size 14-16. Can anyone recommend one that would fit a UK size 18 or do I need to stick with my arm band until I lose a bit more?

Runners - stomach problems and race day? (poss tmi)
Hi, me again with the same old problem. I suffer from the dreaded runners' stomach problems. It doesn't happen every time, but every few runs I get to the three mile mark and suddenly get stomach cramps which have me rushing for the loo. I've always made it home in time... but I'm always terrified that I won't. I'm already…

Fun quotes for running shirts?
I've got some cheap tank tops that I thought I would bleach-stencil some cute slogans in for running. Any ideas? So far I like: - Your pace or mine? - Zombies hate fast food - Don't quit - Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion (this is a Muhammed Ali quote that I love, but probably too long) - Run like a…

Pain on days I DON'T exercise?
I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this. I get this muscle pain, mostly in my quads but sometimes in the buttocks and calves (ie, all the muscles that work hard when running) but it only happens on rest days or days when I haven't worked out for 36-48 hours. It is not DOMS, I've experienced that enough…

Ideas for veg-heavy meals that aren't salad?
Morning! I have recently developed IBS and for the time being at least, I can't eat raw vegetables and fruit without a lot of pain and discomfort. Any ideas for veg-heavy meals and snacks that don't involve eating any of them raw? I make curries, chillies, stew and soup but I'm in a bit of a rut, please inspire me!

Compliments from strangers - your opinions
HandfordRose had a lovely thread this week about strangers at the pool noticing her hard work and progress. It got me thinking and I didn't want to derail her thread. I often see people out running or walking, or at the pool, and I can tell they are making a huge effort. Sometimes it might be a person that is significantly…

Evading Mobs?
I'm sure this must've been asked before so sorry if I am repeating things. Can anyone summarize for me how the mobs work? Do you have to hit a certain speed or increase speed by a certain percentage? ie. would going from a walk to a jog work as well as going from a jog to a sprint? How long do you need to maintain the…

Running on grass vs road
I've signed up for my first race in October -10k. I'm just barely going to be running 10k by that time the way my training is going, and looking at last year's results I'm going to be one of the very slowest runners as it is. I run on roads and paths. The race is 40% road 60% grass. I don't have anywhere I can easily train…

Small NSV... Sort of?
Me: Honey, I have this weird feeling lump on my leg, come and check it for me? Husband: Sweetie, that's a muscle. That's what bodies are supposed to feel like. Happy to be building some muscle, but it doesn't reflect well on me that I don't know what having muscle feels like!

UK Ladies - plus sized workout clothes
I'm an 18-20 up top, 16 on the bottom. I've managed to find some decent shorts/leggins that fit but I am really struggling for tops. I'm into running and would really like some shirts in wicking fabric. I find most sports brands only seem to go up to a 16 or a 16-18. I can squeeze into some but look a bit like a…

My running isn't improving
I'm doing couch to 10k. I've got to the point where C25K stops - I can run for 30 minutes but I'm slow so that's not 5k for me. And now I'm just not improving. I just can't seem to run a minute longer, and I'm not getting faster either. I'm not really concerned about speed for now, I just want to increase my time/distance.…

Did you overcome runner's stomach problems?
I know that digestive issues are a fairly common problem for runners, I've read up on it and it seems there's still a lot of debate about why and no simple solution to fix it. So I'd really like to hear from anyone who had this problem and has overcome it. I'm at the point where I'm tempted to give up. I love the sense of…

The Toddler-Parent Workout
Fitting in workouts can be hard when you have little people depending on you. Never fear, parents! Your loving little ones don't want you to do without exercise. Your toddlers have kindly decided to provide you with a rigorous full-body workout so you have no excuses to - er, I mean, don't need to inconvenience yourself by…

10k by October - is this realistic?
A friend of mine who runs marathons has very kindly invited me to do a 10k with her in October. I really want to do it, and I don't want to let her down since she will be essentially sacrificing her race time to run with me. Is it realistic for me to be ready for a 10k by then? Not bothered about a good time, since this is…

New running shoes are causing me pain
I think I already know the answer to this, but I want a second opinion. I had a 'gait analysis' (sort of, there was no treadmill) done by asics and they recommended me stability shoes. They felt comfy in the shop but the first time I ran in them my arches were aching within minutes. I only did a very short run and had to…

To the guy that honked when I was running today....
Thanks! I was about half way into my run and at the top of a really big hill, huffing and puffing and doubting whether I was going to do the full half hour. Some man that I've never seen before drove past and honked his horn three or four times. When I looked up he gave me a huge grin and a big thumbs up through the…

Shins sore to the touch
My shins are sore to the touch. It feels almost like they are bruised but there are no marks or visible swelling. There is no pain at all when running/exercising, no problem bearing weight, and no aching or throbbing. It is only when I touch them that they hurt. It started about three days ago. Could this be the dreaded…

Has anyone in the UK seen a dietician?
And can you advise me on how to go about it? I'd like to see one because I want some advice on making sure I'm meeting everyone's nutritional needs in the family. I want to lose 50lbs without losing too much lean mass. My husband is type 1 diabetic. We also have a tiny tot at home. I really want someone who can look at…

Does body-weight resistance training do any good at all?
Hello, I've never really done any resistance training but I am starting because I'm very worried about losing lean mass (don't have much to start with!). I don't have free weights and money/time/space prevents me acquiring them or joining a gym for the foreseeable future. I also have very little body strength. Body weight…

Boobs hurt when running - advice please!
I've finally started the couch to 5k after threatening to for ages. I've been putting it off because jogging really hurts my boobs. I am 36G so pretty big up top. A lot of sports bras don't go up to my size and those that do feel less supportive than a regular bra. Lately I've been wearing two bras - one ordinary wired bra…
