  • I am getting fit by walking and biking. I lose weight by counting calories. It's a good combo. I like non stressful workouts, and walking is perfect.
  • I replace my morning tea with water. If I'm still feeling droopy after I've had my water, then I have a cup of tea.
  • Yes. I've worked with lots of doctors, dieticians, therapists, etc. Honestly, I currently eat for fuel. I take it like medicine. But the joy is almost completely gone from eating for me. I miss a lot of staples I loved and the substitutes aren't adequate. I used to love food textures and that was a large appeal for me. I…
  • I totally get the GI bloat you're talking about. Autoimmune disorders are rarely wreaking havok alone. I would totally talk to your dr about getting tested for celiac.
  • Yes, even though 300 of my calories were candy, lol.
  • Yes, of course. I have a lot of digestion issues due to celiac. I avoid gluten as well as dairy, many fruits, beans, and other grains because of the damage caused by untreated celiac. I allow myself safe (for me) treats in moderation because it gives me at least some way to enjoy food occasionally.
  • Moderation. I have a very restricted diet for health reasons. If I can say it, I will. I have to have some joy in life. Lol
  • This is kind of how I feel about it. I'm losing by counting my calories, and feel like that's an extra step that would be excessive and difficult. I'm trying to do this in a way that is sustainable and I just don't see myself sustaining that over time.
  • Just out of curiosity given your age, are you perimenopausal? Have you had your thyroid checked? It seems to be an issue for many women mid 30's to mid 40's.
  • I want to feel strong and to look good in jeans.
  • I keep track of my heart rate while working out and will cross check calories burned with a calculator online. It's usually pretty close, if not more than mfp. I have come to trust mfp's numbers even though I double check occasionally.
  • I don't love it. I love riding my bike and swimming, but that's about it. I can't do those things every day, so I force myself to do other things. I'm not the type of person who gets a runner's high or anything like that. I'm always very proud of myself when I work out though, because I'm doing something that's good for me…
  • I still use my favorite sweetener in my tea. I use turbinado.
  • I was told a couple of years ago that my levels were high. I decided to reduce stress in as much as I could control and change some things up in my life. This includes a morning cup of tea and meditation, magnesium supplements, walking instead of tough/ stressful workouts, journaling about the things outside of my control,…
  • For those who say the should be no difficulty reaching 1200, that may be true for you, but it doesn't apply to everyone. I struggle meeting the minimum every day. For so many reasons: health (autoimmune issues make me dread meal time), time (single mom of 4 kids and very busy), and lack of appetite (i assume this is stress…
  • I get hungry late at night sometimes. When that happens, I'll make some decaffeinated tea, usually sleepytime or something similar. During the day, I just drink water and it goes away. I'm pretty busy, and that helps too.
  • No one in my family understands my restrictions, and since my health depends on it, I normally bring my own plate to family gatherings. I know what will be served normally, so I try to bring a similar dish using ingredients safe for me and portion sizes appropriate.
  • Sounds perfect to me. I am also 5'3 and currently 162. It takes a lot of work and patience for us short girls. 1 lb a week feels like a huge achievement to me!
  • What I eat is regulated by my health. I try to eat a lot of protein because it fills me up and I can't eat a lot of food. I hate food it makes me sick (thanks to auto immune disease). I wish I could figure it out. My "diet style" would be force feeding. I struggle eating enough every day. I dread meal time. It's simply a…
  • I just throw a bunch of meat in the crock pot with water and seasonings (onion, garlic, spices, etc) and eat that as my main food for the week. I love cooking chicken this way and using it in almost every meal. I am a single mom of 4 kids and don't have a lot of time for meal prep and cooking. My crock pot is my life saver.
  • I have multiple autoimmune issues including celiac. It's really given me an unhealthy relationship with food. I struggle with hating it and I'm scared of it because of the level of illness I deal with when I accidentally eat the wrong thing. Along with that, I struggle staying active due to the pain, my energy levels, and…
  • Hey there! I'm 35 and have 4 kids. Time is a real struggle. Let's connect!
  • I'm a single working mother of 4 and work 80 hours a week between mothering and 3 jobs. I'm a big believer that we are masters of our time and we'll make time for things that we value. I joined a gym that has multiple locations I can visit to insure that I can work out no matter where I am. If i can't make it there, I try…
  • Hey there! Feel free to add me. I'm a 34 year old single mama to 4. I haven't been my pre-preg weight since baby #1 and she's almost 13. Working hard to get there; long way to go!
  • I sent you a message, but I'll also post here. I started out with an obese BMI (seems easy to do with us short folk). Once I changed my diet (it sounds a lot like yours- although I do some processed stuff like protein bars), 18 lbs just about fell off me. I can tell it's slowing down the past few days. My dr and…
  • That's awesome! I started smoking during my divorce a few years ago. It started out as a way to deal with stress, and as the stress increased, it became a habit. I was able to quit with vaping. I've almost quit vaping occasionally, but I still take it to bars and places where I'd be tempted to smoke. I keep one in the car…
  • All of this creeped up on me, because I wasn't dealing with very much pain associated with digestion. But all of the sudden I got an extreme case of intestinal bleeding that seemed like it took forever to go away. My gastro was amazed that I wasn't feeling pain. I felt slight discomfort and bloat, but that's the most I…
  • Yes, definitely. She is a RD, but the office calls her a nutritionist... so that's what I called her.
  • Oh! I agree! As far as talking to my dr, He'll gladly discuss this info with me when I ask more about it. I simply didn't ask at my last visits because I didn't know to ask. The cholesterol info I'm reading is new to me. I'm not big on animal fats. Since I effed up my digestive system (untreated celiac for years), I can't…
