I grew up smaller and petite. When I got heavier, I didn't realize how heavy I was until I saw a picture. Now I've lost weight and I still think of me as heavier. I didn't take any pre pictures, and didn't take pictures along the way as I lost weight. My advice of those starting out--take pictures of your journey so you…

Congrats on the weight loss and sticking with it. Your health is better off for it. I love the pretty blue shirt and matching tennies! I'm sure it takes a lot of energy to raise 6 kids!

An affordable diet plan? Check out Myfitnesspal.com. Take your time and trust it--it works!

Nice job! You don't look like 299 pounds--I would have guessed a lot less!

Congrats! That is an awesome NSV! It gives you more clothing options, but also costs money for new clothes. I just had to buy a new winter coat because I shrunk out of mine. No complaints, though. A good NSV.

I agree with OP that your BMR will go down as you lose weight, but not that significantly. I did not change my calorie goal. Yes, my weight loss is slower, the smaller I get, but if I exercise I sometimes actually have to work at eating more. Never thought I would ever have the opportunity to say that in my life! I try to…

If I keep them painted, I don't bite them.

Thank you everyone for the success pics! Although I don't have any myself, it was all of yours that kept me going this last year. I am now in a normal weight range, just need to lose some more of the lower half of the pear shape and build some muscle! For me the diet was easier than the exercise. Next l goal is to exercise…

As long as the overall trend is not going up, you are doing great. 3 pound loss is awesome! Congrats!

The difference is noticeable--Nice! Keep logging and keep going! Good luck!

Great job! It should help you chase that grandchild easier! Someday I hope to be lucky enough to experience a grandchild of my own!

Beautiful! Your hard work really shows!

You are doing a good thing for yourself. I'm sorry you have to live with such demeaning behavior from your family. Keep doing what your doing in spite of them. Good luck!

Glad to hear it is possible-- as long as you keep paying attention!

I am a nurse, and I have noticed the number of obese nurses also, which is funny considering their focus is on health! I also had become obese over the years- did not start out that way. I have worked a mixture of evening and night shifts over the years(32 years to be exact). I don't work all 12 hours shifts, but often do.…

WOW, Sweetpea129! Nice job! Part of losing this weight is believing you can--and you did!

Sounds good! I like the idea of the lettuce to wrap in. Thanks.

I've never tried WW, but I started MFP half-heartedly and I started losing weight! Now I've been logging for a year. I've never dieted more than 2 consecutive weeks in my life. MFP worked for me, so I'm sticking with it. It's probably even more important to log during maintenance--that's my plan.

THIS IS NOT NORMAL! Go back to the doctor or get a referral to a specialist. You might not be able to afford it now, but this sounds life threatening! Being anorexic from whatever cause can cause damage to other organs (heart, kidneys). Maybe you need a different doctor.

Ditto, SrToben!

You have obtained definite noticeable reduction in the trunk area and face/neck!. WTG! I think kick starting does help with motivation. I know the advice here comes across harsh, but these people are very concerned about overall health. If you don't want someone analyzing your food log, you can make it private if you…

I agree with what everyone above has said.. When I first started, I weighed myself everyday. it took a lot of willpower to stop weighing so frequently! You will notice the difference better if you don't weigh yourself so often. Trust yourself and the process. It will work if you are honest with yourself. Lots of luck!

Track, but keep your food diary private when you do your settings. This is what I did to limit embarrassment .

You have done an awesome job! My sister has Meniere's, and I know how difficult it was for her--add on the fact that you are exercising and loosing weight! WOW! I Think I may have it also, but instead of being evaluated, the Dr. just sent me out a prescription for my episodes. My balance is poor and I look like a drunk on…

My one year anniversary is 9/24. I've lost 31 pounds. It doesn't seem like much next to some people, but I'm thrilled to be at this point. It is better than a year ago!

Got out my bike a few weeks ago. I haven't ridden in several years. I am now in the high end of normal weight range for the first time in over 25 years. Doesn't matter how much you weigh, because I rode 5 miles, and was in total butt pain! I also rode so slow that a guy I know that walks for exercise beat me on the route!
-
That's quite a nice accomplishment! Hang on to it!
-
I vote "yes." :)

Sounds like OP got attention for it on FB --and is now bringing it to MFP for more attention-- which we are all providing!

I'm ashamed to say I have personally said this to two different family members. It was out of concern. I think you are used to seeing them at their previous weight, and you really notice the difference. I also think you do hear this from jealous people because it makes them re-evaluate where they are in life. It is often…
