Since the commencementcof this challenge I have upped my steps from 7500 to between 11 & 12000. Today I had a 1hr.17min bike ride which included some challenging hills. But I do ride sitting down!!!! I use a recumbent bike (3 wheels) as I have had too many falls and at my age (68) I still wanted to bike ride but with less…

@valleyhooper thankyou for your response I'm sorry to hear you have been ill. I have ordered my weighted hoop without waves designed for excercise. It is 106cm or nearly 42 inches. I am tall..nearly 5'10" and over 200lb so a long way to go. Looking forward to slowly building up to being able to hoop for a good amount of…

@valleyhooper a bit more information about the Polar Loop for those of us that are considering this exercise as an option would be helpful. Do you recommend a weighted hoop, an excercise hoop with waves?? A foam covered one ???Since I first saw your invite to join Hooping I have done some reading and like everything there…

Never thought of hula hooping! Waist and hip reduction... really!! I would love that. Do you just use a standard kids plastic hoop? @valleyhooper you mentioned you weighted your hoop... please fill me in on the ins and outs of hoops and what to buy. I'm in Australia

I just use whole oats (not the quick cooking type) 1/3 cup cover with boiling water in a pot... put the lid on to steam in the water) while I am preparing other stuff. Add 30g smooth ricotta cheese and more water to suit cook gently ... stirring as needed. The ricotta give the protein and makes it nice and creamy without…

Were all on MFP because we want to make changes , look better and feel bettet about ourselves..we can make that happen. Many of us have experienced something similar..so we know how tough this was for you and how hard it was to keep your emotions in check. These judgemental guys probably make some lewd or inconsiderate…

I am a lot older than you but have battled weight all my life and it does have an effect on your self image. When I was young in my 20's with three young children I thought I was fat, but I was also beautiful... good skin nice face lovely long silky hair - tummy a bit average after three babies, but overall I really didn't…

Prawn (or shrimp if u like) stirfry..lots of fresh veggies.. with a curry sauce homemade . Can have it with 1/4 to 1/3 cup rice if I have enough calories left for today

I think that is a good strategy to employ particularly if you need a treat day ... using this as a guideline you would not exceed but maintain. Good thinking and thanks for sharing...we all need ways to be strategic getting to goal weight and I will add this one.

I empathize with your feelings but you are talking yourself into not succeeding at making changes that will ultimately make you feel more confident. Weight: Doesn't matter if you are short or tall.. we all tend to make excuses as to why we can put off the dreaded discipline of monitoring what we eat. Me, I'm tall so I can…

@dantew04 wrote ...."Onus should be on the damn owner. Probably... yet so many owners do not do dog training with their dog and then let them off lead or do not enclose them properly in the interest of safety for both small children and smaller dogs. How many times do you hear of a dog attacking a child in the childs own…

Only three days till the holiday is over..so for both your sakes try and make the best of it. Drink more water.. bottled would probably be best. To be frank your Mother might be getting on your nerves with her negativity, but anyone would feel like they are being patronised if you constantly answer with "whatever you want…

Avoid the white rice, white bread, jam, sugar, biscuits & processed cereals. Hard cheese is expensive both calorie wise and on the pocket ... so go for ricotta or cottage cheese - takes a bit of getting used to but ricotta is a good source of calcium and can be enjoyed in all sorts of ways- even as a baked cheese cake in a…

Hi there, if your 'quest' is to lose the weight then use your experience at life to put a plan into action. As I am a similar age to you I know you know the drill... no one can tell you what to do... even your doctor can say what you need to hear until he/she is blue in the face, but unless you are ready to make the…

I add 30g light ricotta cheese to my normal soaked rolled oats (1/3 cup)... rather than any milk. That makes the rolled oats creamy and ups my protein intake. Do you think adding ricotta to steel cut oats would work similar - never heard of steel cut oats before, am thinking that these would take a while to digest and keep…

Checked it out... this is like the Mayo clinic diet of old. It is very taxing on the system so you want to be sure you are in good shape (meaning no health issues) before you attempt this

Well I have had many barbs over the years and they all have an effect on ones self esteem because your not happy with yourself in the first place. But the worst probably when a guy followed me out of a supermarket and tried to sell me HerbalLife products - I was mortified. Somehow I did not see that incident as a…
