In my experience, the calorie things on machines are never accurate. I'd go with what the Polar said, and even that I would take with a grain of salt. As in, yay! good burn! But not yay! Now I can eat 631 extra calories! ;) (But just my opinion)

I've been doing primarily weights, with some infrequent cardio stuff. Last week was an off week for me as either allergies or something has had me feeling cruddy and not being able to get out of bed in time to do morning workouts, plus sick kid, plus two birthdays, etc. So I essentially didn't work out last week (besides a…

Sounds like there's definitely interest (me included). How on earth are you going to narrow it down to the select few? Do you accept bribes in the form of ice cream or baskets of mini muffins? ;)

Good to know. Thanks so much for passing this along (I just wish it could be required reading!).

Great job! Look at those gorgeous legs! :)

Thanks everyone. Mostly it helps to know that I'm not the only one who feels this way. Mentally I know that DOMS aren't required, it's just hard to let go of the mentality to go harder and harder. This mentality has not always been kind to my body and could possibly be why I need to be nice to my body now (ah, the glory…

Yes and yes. :) I know I'm twisted. I just like that feeling of fully exhausting yourself. It just seems to be easier to achieve with legs. Now that I'm eating more and have all this energy, apparently I feel motivated to kill myself every workout. (shakes head)

Not sure if you're already a gym member or have one in mind, but most gyms offer complimentary training sessions (usually 1-3 sessions) on the equipment. Usually once you know how they all work it decreases gym fears. Most people's biggest fear is that they don't know how to work the machines, they'll be doing something…

I agree. Sara and SideSteel rock. :)

Actually all of these classes require certification. Which means you have to fork out money for the certification training (usually run $100-$200). Plus you would most likely need to be certified by a national fitness organization (like AFAA). Plus you would more than likely need CPR certification (sometimes gyms offer…

It usually depends on the city, the gym (private versus chain), years of experience, # of different types of class you can teach (hold certifications in), your certification, and (after a while) your popularity. Everywhere I ever taught the gym membership was included and I think at my peak I got about $28 per class (this…

You should be so incredibly proud of yourself. As someone who recovered from full blown ED to just flirting with it off and on over the years, I can fully appreciate how difficult this process was for you and how terrifying it was to gain weight. Just remember, the number on that scale is only a measure of your…

I agree that the "Body By You" book is worth the investment. It's all body weight and you don't even need a band - they demonstrate variations that you can use a towel with. It offers lots and lots of progressively harder variations of each exercise and trust me, body weight exercises can be incredibly effective. I don't…

I'm also wondering if it isn't time to change up your exercise routine? I don't know too much about the CLX program, but maybe doing 2-4 weeks of low rep compound exercises and cutting back on the cardio? Or doing some more bodyweight only exercises? I have some links I can post if you're interested. I think our bodies get…

Me too! Me too!

I see no ladies with weights in their hands. I'm going to hope that's because they were wise enough to stay away from the chaos? ;)

Great work! Thanks for the inspiration - you look fantastic! :)

I'm right there with you. ;) Not enjoying the beginnings of this but trying to believe in the process. I'll hang in there if you do!

Feel free to add me as well. I'm just beginning this process and am technically a noob, but have many years experience gaining and losing weight. ;)

I used to be the queen of self sabotage as well and lurked on these boards for quite a while before trying something different. For the past few weeks I have been trying the "eat more to lose" concept and it's been amazing. My energy has gone way up, my mood has improved, and I have had no urge to binge eat. I used to beat…

You can add me too.

I just wanted to thank you all for creating this topic. I thought about your replies all day today and was motivated to make it all day without a binge. Yay! I've done a lot of reading about this and have struggled with it for many years. I'm starting to figure out that one of my triggers to self sabotage has to do with…
