  • Jesse, thank you for sharing this with us. You are always so inspirational and I enjoy your updates. I wish you all the best and look forward to your rowing reports :)
  • I think Poise (I think that's how it's spelled) makes pads that might work better than a regular maxi pad. I discovered this gift of motherhood about 6 weeks after having my first. I was cleared to return to karate and during warm up jumping jacks... Fortunately I was also wearing black and ran to the bathroom. It was…
  • i use my blender - blend for a while and then use the liquify setting to make sure there are no giant spinach chunks :) i switch up my smoothies, but this morning i used kefir (trying instead of greek yogurt), spinach, banana, blueberries, chia seeds, and some water. I've also added cucumbers, pineapple, nut/seed butters,…
  • thanks everyone...some great info here!
  • I did also recently join a local running group as well. The reason I'm asking for book recommendations is because I got a Barnes & Noble gift card from the in-laws LOL! But also because I'm the type that likes to read the instructions before putting something together. Thanks again for the suggestions - much appreciated!!
  • Thank you both! Yes, I am analytical :) I just want to be smart about it and not risk injury. I will check out the 80/20.
  • congrats to you! i got a little misty eyed reading your story - thanks for sharing :)
  • My NRV's are also my NSV's since I'm fairly new to running (I joined this group to learn and be inspired  ). I finished my first half on March 30th and my first 10 miler this past Sunday. Now I have a baseline time to beat for the next time...because there will be more!
  • i don't use either but just wanted to share that i got an email from cpsc today advising that some of the fitbits are being recalled. http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2014/Fitbit-Recalls-Force-Activity-Tracking-Wristband/
  • i came in 4th....from last in my first 5k :) time was 35:58. the winner finished in under 16 minutes! i did a mix of walking and running and have done so in every other 5k i've completed since. first one is still my best time though so go figure. i'm not very good at running but i do enjoy it so i continue. my goals when i…
  • I feel nauseous after drinking green tea as well so I stopped (took me a while to confirm it was the tea that was making me feel that way). But if you vomit from it, I would definitely avoid. The red spots could be an allergic reaction (take some benadryl and see if they go away) or could be broken blood vessels from…
  • i have high arches too and went to my local running store to get recommendations. they put me in mizuno wave riders and i've stuck with them since. i also have orthotic inserts but do not like running with those in - they seem to do more "harm" than good.
  • I also have 3 kids (7, 5, 4) so I get up and walk or run at 5:00 a.m. while the rest of my family are still sleeping. If I miss going that early (because it's early and cold out there!), I try to either walk or head to the Y on my lunch break at work. You just have to schedule time for exercise and work it in to your…
  • bumping. i have a bunch of grated zucchini left over from my garden in the freezer...sounds like a great way to use it up :)
  • Great work, Jason! I can always count on your posts in my newsfeed being super inspirational and motivating. Keep up the good work :)
  • How about waking up at 5 am to exercise instead of 6 am? LOL! I'm also a busy mom and that's what I do. I am too exhausted after I get the 3 of them to bed so I have to fit my exercise in when I can, and that's early in the morning. Do you belong to a gym? My Y offers child care so I can drop the kids there so maybe that's…
  • i did one this past june in pa and signed up for the one next summer too. it's a lot of fun - you'll have a blast!
  • Yep, have fun is my number one tip as well :) Don't start too fast and make sure you line up in the pack according to your pace. I was kind of intimidated when I ran my first 5k and made sure I lined up in the back, right in front of the people with the baby strollers. That was a smart move on my part LOL! Oh, and make…
  • i'm following a jeff galloway 18 week training plan for beginners. it's 3 days a week, walk/run. i found it on the rundisney.com site. good luck to you!
  • Thanks Phildog! I have an odd furniture set up so as long as I don't need a big space, I should be good to go :)
  • I'm thinking of starting too - can someone tell me what kind of equipement I need? Just the wieghts, right? And how big of a space do I need?
  • me too! i use my collar bones as an indicator of weight loss...especially if the scale isn't moving the way i want it to  i am no where near goal but mine are starting to show now. hopefully i will see more of them in the near future. best of luck to you!

  • If there's any more spots, sign me up! Thanks!
  • I'm a FT working mom of three as well (6 1/2, 5, and 3 1/2). Earlier this year I finally decided to get serious about my health and weight. I gave myself permission to focus on myself and allow myself to take some of the family time to focus on my goals (I was in a 14 week program through my job that had me meeting with a…
  • I may have a little OCD :) Thanks for your help - much appreciated!
  • I'm 35 and have 3 kids - 6 1/2, 5, and 3 1/2. I definitely want to have more energy to keep up with and enjoy them! I also found once I gave myself "permission" to focus on my health and wellness, and let go of the mom guilt of not focusing all of my energy on my kids, my journey became easier :) Feel free to send me a…
  • I have a suggestion (and I can't believe this is my first post on the message boards - LOL!), your bladder might not work like it used to :) I discovered this the embarassing way when I returned to karate 6 weeks after my first baby and we did jumping jacks for the warm up
