I can totally relate to this! No, you are not dumb at all for feeling this way but it is something you will have to work thru to get over. I started in May 2014 at 250 lbs with ZERO self confidence! Even though I knew no one at the gym was paying any attention to me, i still had panic and anxiety every single time I went.…

Lifting! It's been a game changer for my new lifestyle, wish I had started doing it from day 1 along with my cardio.

Hi April! Best advice I can give is start with small goals and work your way to a healthier you from there. Write it down in a place you have to look at several times a day or set a reminder on your phone...start with something small like a 15-30 minute walk with your girls, cooking a healthy dinner together once or twice…

You are being way too hard on yourself, your body housed another human being!!! Start out with smalls goals, walking for 30 minutes a day...break that up into 2/15 min walks if you need to. Cut out soda's, incorporate more water. Keep a journal of how you feel..focus on 5 positive/blessings in your life at the moment each…

It's realistic if you choose to cut your cals to the bare minimum... however, seems a bit stressful to put that much pressure on yourself on top of planning a wedding. I started out running and have since found weights and LOVE lifting and see much better results and loss by doing so. Make this a life style change, not…

You seem to be making great changes on your own, great job! Just curious, why not keep going and avoid the surgery?

Start out with small goals. Switching from sugary drinks to water, a 15 min walk twice a day, always eat breakfast. This worked for me and I've lost 50 lbs since May...of course everyone is different. Feel free to add me, my diary is available to view. Good luck :)

Feel free to add me...MFP works, 50 lbs later I can attest! Ashley..my brother and sister n law are stationed at Ft Lewis! She is leaving April 7th for her 3rd deployment

Ditch that scale and check back in 2 weeks- a month! You can become too obsessed with it, thus inducing your stress levels! And yes, water weight can come back just that quickly. This just happened to me....I finally broke into onderland at 199.6, Saturday I was 203! I'm working with a trainer 2 x a week and doing cardio…

Starving yourself at 1200 cals will not result in the weight loss you want, that is, if you're looking for long term success! Food=fuel, your body needs it along with exercise

As other posters have said, start one new good habit. Start walking 15 minutes a day, increase your water, cut out sodas or fast food. You didn't get to this mental state overnight, you won't overcome it in a day. Don't be too hard on yourself! My best advice (and b/c I do this myself now and it's helped), keep a personal…

I have both! I was diagnosed with PCOS 14+ years ago and always used that as my crutch to say I will never be able to lose weight! Fast forward to May 2014 and my Dr ,who had been telling me at each physcial the last 2 years that my blood sugar was too high, finally said enough, you are fasting and it's 208..yowzers! So,…

Are you taking in enough protein? Have you eliminated carbs? For me (and I'm completely new at getting healthy), eating higher protein/low carb meals is what helps curb my appetite. I eat 3 meals a day and 2 snacks. I am type 2 diabetic, so I have to also watch my sugar intake.
