Go Panda!

Arc, Mayor Panda—you guys are inspirational! I ran 151.21 miles :-)

Feeling so inspired as I read the thread—all of us taking good care of ourselves and proud to show it off :-) Like many, I'm a tad too small for my wedding dress now, and feel great about it. I have a couple of other gorgeous gowns from the big day, including an amazing fitted cheongsam, that I'm considering having…

I keep some sweet 479-degrees popcorn (http://www.479popcorn.com/flavor.html?mv_arg=GSC) around the house for exactly those moments. One full cup of the fleur de sel caramel popcorn is just 100 cals, the ginger sesame caramel is just 110, and the vietnamese cinnamon sugar is just 120 cals. When my sweet cravings are small,…

I love this shrimp, bacon and spinach barley risotto recipe from Fine Cooking: http://www.finecooking.com/recipes/lemon-barley-risotto-shrimp-bacon-spinach.aspx

Is he on again? Yes, I'm really taken by Watson as well! By IBM's innovative chops, sure, but also the marketing genius! My, I was utterly blown away when Watson made his debut a while back! He kind of sounds like Hal on 2001 too, I thought... But that could just be my imagination, as it's been a long time since I saw that…

Lululemon has the best pocket designs of all my gear—pockets that you can actually fit stuff in while still being sleek and close to the body. My Nikes and Adidas pockets barely fit my car key—but they are also much lighter on my wallet! Lulus are expensive , but if you want to make the investment, the quality of their…

Ooh, love the idea of using actual chocolate! FYI, someone from the Chowhound boards suggested silken tofu instead of the banana, which I thought could also work so that the chocolate and peanut butter flavors could shine more. I think I may be giving the recipe another go this weekend. Let me know how yours go! Cheers!

Thanks! I see we're struggling with some of the same issues—the Greek yogurt is just too tart for us, and definitely lost out to the Justin's Peanut Butter cups in the taste-test here ;-) I also looked into the various low-cal pudding mixes, but found they were too starchy and not chocolatey enough, again difficult to win…

Oh, BTW, it won't be pretty smoking yourself thin and then to death. Your complexion will be yucky, your hair will smell bad, your lungs will get weak so you can't exercise and will get fatter and fatter, and when you start putting that cigarette into that hole they have to put in your neck so you can breathe, that's not…

I used to, at a pack a day at my worst :-O But I stopped when I was 28, because I knew I wanted to stop eventually, and would rather do it when I am still young enough to work out and avoid the weight gain. So I say, from experience—stop as soon as you can when you're still young and can still sweat out the toxins and…

Love it on a sandwich—goes well with ham, turkey or chicken. Also great in a quinoa bowl—add in some protein (tofu or chicken strips), toss in some sliced carrots, top it off with some cherry tomato halves and avocado, add some salt & pepper spice mix or peanut dressing, and you got a yummy super-food meal!

Not the everyday stuff. But once a month I spend over 7 hours doing a serious all-over clean (better than a paid housekeeper is my motto!), scrubbing and vacuum and mopping, with no time left for a real run. That's when I strap on my HRM and log my calories, especially since I get famished afterwards and want to enjoy a…

Pure running: 93 miles! In addition, lots of walking, and some swimming and hiking that were unlogged. I was recovering the first 2 weeks from a Jul 31 half marathon, when I focused on yoga and swimming instead. September will be a big month, as I train towards my next half marathon in October!

For the beautiful bottle of prosecco waiting in my fridge, so I can indulge in as many glasses as I'd like!

Thank YOU! I was just researching this, as my shinsplints have returned despite a 2 week break of only short runs. It's been perplexing to me, as I feel like I've done everything "right"—properly-fitted shoes, replaced regularly, careful adding of miles, getting off the pavement onto the asphalt road, 2 weeks of recovery…

Unless with someone else, whenever I eat, I stop everything else—no email, no TV, no reading, no work. And I pretend to be a food/drink critic, savoring every bite and figuring out what I have to say about it. Whether it's breakfast or lunch or just a quick bite of cliff bar, I do this! I end up eating less and feeling…

I just ran my very first half marathon a couple of weeks ago, and I followed the Nike+ training program online—the Nike Women's Half Marathon one to be specific. I like it especially because it includes various strengthening routines as well that helps to prevent running injury. Besides pictures, you can see videos of…

I love putting in 1/3 cup of fresh berries when I can. If not a teeny sprinkling of dried cherries or apricots tastes good too. And some nuts—usually walnuts or cashews. A dash of milk or soy. And sweeten with a bit of raw local honey!

Thanks for the good advice everyone! Cheers, Iz

Depends on your running surface and type of shoe too. I'm a light runner (hair over 100lb) but my last pair gave out before 400 miles because they're a lighter-weight shoe (Brooks Ghost) and I was running almost exclusively on cement (I know, terrible!). I've since started running on the road (asphalt)—more dangerous…

You did amazing! Can't believe you made that time with an injured knee! Nice job working those SF hills ;-)
-
Very nice! Maybe we'll get to see each other in December, maybe we won't, but until then, I look forward to connecting on MFP and keeping each other motivated towards our goal! Cheers, Iz

Thanks Jen! I'll probably keep it in consideration but continue to look at other options. Cheers, I

Ha! I felt the same urge yesterday, and got some Haagen Daz snack bites—just 190 calories, which I think is quite reasonable!

I'm running my first half this Sunday in SF! And then the Nike Women's in October (haven't decided on half or full yet... will determine after Sunday!), and then the Las Vegas Rock-n-Roll full in December. I'm very excited to see so many MFP folks going to Vegas—I wonder if we should start a forum/group for those of us…

My goal's also 1200 calories NET per day, which I've found to be quite reasonable for my height and goal of getting back to a healthier weight. However, I agree that it is very tough to stay within 1200 with the typical food options we have eating out, no matter how "healthy" the choice! I've found that when I make my food…

Thanks! It's amazing how many different opinions there are out there on food! It seems like not overeating during the tapering is also important, so I'll keep your advice in mind :-)

It's the San Francisco Marathon on July 31!

Thanks for the wise counsel everyone!
