This absolutely. Go to a local running store and get fitted.

I agree with everyone else. Squats and deadlifts.
-
Try looking up "You are your own Gym" or "Convict Conditioning". Both use body weight exercises. You can do push ups, lunges, triceps dips, squats, planks...

I can't workout at home to save my life. However, if you are looking for DVD's to do, look at Groupon. They have a few for pretty cheap.

Running outside vs the treadmill I have notice are two different things. You will honestly just have to get used to running outside. Besides that... Good luck on your first 5k and have a blast!!!
-
I go on an elliptical AFTER I workout as a cool down. And by then I am drenched in sweat and disgusting. Because you know... At gyms you sweat.

Walk, swim, dance, hoola hoop. My biggest suggestion is find something you will enjoy. I am a firm believer in the importance of strength training for health and aesthetics, but first find something you can enjoy adding to your lifestyle.

Haha. I always have A protein shake before I shower. It takes the edge off so I can be reasonable with my cravings. Otherwise I would be out looking for a cow to kill and bbq. Also nice profile picture.

I currently have a sprained ankle and have been doing hiit on a bike at the gym for my cario. My ankle has been fine with it. The doctor also told me an elliptical is fine as well since it is low impact, but just listen to your body and use common sense and stop of it causes your ankle discomfort.

I love unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Almond Breeze also has an almond milk coconut milk blend that is amazing. Creamier with a richer flavor. That one I have only seen at a few stores that I rarely shop at though so I don't get it as often.

I am bipolar. A lot of people have already given you a lot of great advice. I just want to say and make sure you undere that there is zero shame in having a mental illness or needing to take medication. There should be zero sigma. It is a chemical imbalance in the brain that medication can help treat.

Regarding shoes... Reebock is coming out with their line of shoes designed specifically for mud runs that come out soon. I hear good things. I hear their Outdoor Wilds are pretty awesome too. I am really partial to my Speed Cross 3s myself.

I don't own a scale. The only time I get weighed is a the doctor.

I honestly prefer trail whenever possible, but when that isn't possible I feel safer on the sidewalk unless I am in a residential area with minimal traffic. I honestly think runners just need to employ some common sense. If it is dark out wear some sort of light to make you noticeable both to cars and other pedestrians.…

Mud runs are a blast and tend to foster a great community. No cotton like someone else said. When it gets wet it will weigh you down and it sucks. Moisture wicking fabrics is the best. I would also advice pants over shorts. Or if you do wear shorts, wear knee over socks. If you have to crawl at all your knees get pretty…

This. I have heard convict conditioning is awesome too. Fitness Blender on Youtube. If you want to splurge once you can look into a system like TRX. They have cheaper versions of it I have heard good things about and that can give you a great full body workout.

There really is no one shoe fits all. Go to a dedicated running store. Fleet Feet, Road Runner... whatever you have in your area and get fitted. They can watch you walk and the way your foot lands to determine what shoe fits best for you. I live in my Pegasus 29's and 30s by Nike. Once I retire them from running they…

This. Almost Every accident with a bike I have ever seen (and I work in car insurance so I have seen a lot) involved the cyclist running red lights and stop signs.

I get mini sweet bell papers and then stuff with with either just plain tuna or tuna salad. I love sweet potato and black bean salad.

Because it makes me feel strong and sexy Because it actually does make me strong and sexy Because it gives me the strength to climb walls and ropes and other challenges at Spartan races Because I enjoy it Because it lets me eat more. I read this article today on this subject actually that I am now in love with:…

I am in, but with a slight variation. I want to do a full 30 burpees every day. Ultimate goal is the burpee mile, so gotta start getting ready. Maybe do 30 in the morning and this set at night.
-
I did the Temecula one too! Aiming for for 2 trifectas. One being a Temeculafecta.
-
I am going to do a 30 Day Burpee challenge. You are welcome to join me with that. I need to work on my burpees. My last Spartan killed me. I need to knock them out faster and easier.

I am no expert, so anyone who knows more than me... Feel free to correct me. My suggestion is going to a running store to get fitted. I know at my local one they can also make custom inserts which are are awesome for my high arches However... If you are going to do different work out DVDs... I wouldn't recommend a running…

I have been there. You get over it trust me. :)

If you can afford a personal training to show you proper form I would do that. If not there are plenty of videos online to show you what to do. In the meantime pick up the book New Rules of Lifitng for Women. That is a great resource to get you started. Also try googling Starting Strength.
-
I really like Strong Lifts, how I would still read New Rules. For someone brand new to lifting it has a wealth of information

I love Joe Hill. His comic Lock and Key is AMAZING as well. My mind was blown when I found out he was King's son
-
For the road I recently bought a pair of Nike Pegasus 30s. Uglier than sin, but love them. On the trail I use Speed Cross 3s. They survive my OCR obsession well and are insanely comfortable.

Dear lord that woman is gorgeous. If people consider her manly or too bulky sign me the hell up. I think she and Christmas Abbott are both so beautiful in their strength.
