you weren't disagreeing. it's absolutely possible to do, however it DOES require more meticulous effort and attention paid to the food you eat over the course of the day if you want to do the cake as well and want to maintain that elite performance. Sure, some athletes eat tons of junk food - we've been down this road so…
-
huh? did you not read the first line? how is my advice not suited to the majority? also why are my goals are less legitimate than anyone else's?
-
right?
-
agreed.
-
right. I'm talking about BEYOND those goals. are you an athlete? would you consider your athletic performance "elite"?
-
sustainability comes down to how easy something is to maintain. if your method is easy for you then awesome. do it. my method is easy for me because it's not about planning ahead - it's about logging after the fact, seeing where things stack up so far for the day, and making my food choices based on that information in the…

daaaamn you beat me to it. yes. if chocolate cake is your vice, and you desperately need to have it every day, and if having it every day will help you eat whole foods and stay on track, then by all means chow down. for the average person looking to lose weight it's about sustainability to reach a healthier place than…

your way sounds like way more work tbh.

John Edwards said in 2008 that his biggest flaw was "caring too much"
-
you just said "show off how smart he is" and "hopelessly pedantic" in the same line of text... NOW who's trying to show off? I see what you did there. Very sneaky. :flowerforyou:
-
go for it. it's no biggie. it's one slice of cake - it will have zero effect on your weight loss. enjoy it and have fun at the party.
-
it took you this long to realize that?
-
probably.
-
fat is not food? i can literally eat a pound of animal fat... and you're saying that isn't FOOD!?
-
Time and time again you guys paint me with your own brush - not mine. I repeatedly state that you shouldn't cut out foods you enjoy. I don't advocate strict clean eating. You're manipulating just as much as you think I am.
-
of course. just one example. I could've mentioned B12, K, Magnesium - among others.
-
so now fats aren't food, and they aren't nutrients? then what are they!? because scroll up... you definitely referenced good and bad fats. i'm so confused.
-
wait so there are bad macronutrients? which ones?
-
one lil google search will link you to dozens of articles, studies, and journal publications. you think it's interesting the search box is right up there ^
-
end of the day you're right and i agree 100%
-
I certainly can. Most on this board CAN'T... which is why they're here.
-
I thought no foods were bad...
-
well yeah. exactly. :P
-
 :drinker:

so clearly you don't need to see the source since the Vit D deficiency claims are well known to you? and to your first question - that's my point. IIFYM doesn't say that, and so when people hear "eat whatever you want and fit your macros" the majority don't immediately go to "oh well i guess I should also get in my 4…
-
mah bad yo! weird. people make mistakes. who knew. rock on with the saturated fats is the point. :P
-
and this is exactly my point micronutrient deficiency is NOT rare. most of us in the western world are heavily Vitamin D deficient for one. also, where in IIFYM does it say you're required 4+ servings of fruit/veggies/day?
-
I agree
-
which are not nearly as bioavailable or effective, and will make your cost-effective diet suddenly less cost-effective. eat real foods most of the time, don't cut out things you like, be healthier. it's pretty easy. but yes, for the most part you're right. Johnny and I have always quibbled over the minutia - where I feel…
-
but they're not emphasized, which means you can adhere to IIFYM and still be malnourished on the micro nutrient level.
