I second the 5 Really Big Miles. Last time I looked it was on sale at Amazon for $8. Not sure if it still is. Also there was a QVC special yesterday you may still be able to get in on. It was 3 or 4 of her discs with equipment.

Tonight was 3 miles of Walk Your Belly Flat followed by 50 bicycle crunches with Leslie. :)
-
I don't know this one! I'll have to see if I can find it.
-
I don't think you'll get an accurate account without a heart rate monitor.

I've been using Leslie's DVD's since the beginning of December. I LOVE them! My favorite is her newest that comes with a resistance band. It's called 5 Really Big Miles. I have lost a few pounds, but more importantly right now, I'm losing inches in my waist, hips and thighs. You burn a lot more calories than regular…

Got 3 miles in yesterday. Two more tonight. :)

Good for you! And yes you'll be able to do a little more and a little more each time.
-
I did 15 miles this week. Tomorrow starts the January Challenge from Leslie's blog.

I did the 5 Really Big Miles again last night. Love that one! Them new music is so motivating. I'm up to 15 miles for the week.

Did the 5 Really Big Miles DVD again today and with my heart rate monitor I burned 652 calories! LOVE it!
-
Hee hee hee! Depends on how old you are! I was so excited to hear the music on this one. :)

I just got the 5 Really Big Miles, her newest one and it's awesome! Very motivating and the music is great.

I'll join! I just got her newest DVD 5 Really Big Miles and if you don't have it yet, run and get it. Don't walk. It's excellent and so motivating! I'm signing up for 50 miles in January but I've already done 10 since the 2nd so if I stick with it I should surpass that.

I've been doing her DVD's and walking challenge all month. I love them!

I also love the Polar FT4. You can change the battery yourself. I do not know if there is one in the chest strap but definitely it can be changed in the wrist monitor. I too had bought one thinking an HRM is an HRM. I returned the Timex I bought that didn't tell calories burned in this particular model and went with the…

I'm pretty sure that's the same one I returned.

I'm pretty sure that's the same model of Timex I returned.
-
I bought a Timex originally trying not to spend too much and when it came I realized it didn't count calories burned which is part of what I wanted. I returned it and got the Polar FT4 and love it!

It took me a good 3 weeks before I started seeing weight loss. Oh and p.s. my "rejoin" date was April 9th so the 5 lbs I've lost is since then not November like my icon shows. So I'm down 5# and several inches in my waist and hips in about a month, Like I said though I didn't see much loss the first several weeks. It's…

I Zumba 3x a week. I recently bought a Polar Heart Rate monitor with the strap and am monitoring about 500 calories average per hour. Figuring the calorie burn for a class like Zumba if you want to be accurate you need a HRM. There are so many variables in calorie burn posted for Zumba classes. I would hate to have been…

Zumba classes are also great for whittling a belly down. :)

The little book that comes with it is pretty much a basic get started. Try this user manual: http://www.polar.fi/e_manuals/FT4/Polar_FT4_user_manual_English/

I'm going to the store the weekend before and picking up lots of fruit, sugar free jello, things I like and will help keep me on the plan. Thanks everyone for your input!

I have been doing this religiously since April 9th. In that time I've only lost 2 lbs but have lost several inches. I do zumba at the studio 3x a week. While I love that I'm losing inches and liking how I feel, I also want to lose weight. I don't feel that I'm at a healthy weight range for my height. Trying to lose 20 lbs.…

How did that work out? Did it read many more calories with your new one? I just purchased a Polar FT4 today for Zumba. Can't wait to try it out and see what I'm burning. :)

Thanks for letting me join in. :) I'm 47 years old. Just started working out again and really using My Fitness Pal properly. I am trying to lose 20 lbs right now. I have a surgery scheduled for the end of May and won't be able to work out for a while. Just hoping I can maintain that with using the website during that time…

I haven't seen it mentioned yet. I would give Zumba a try. It's a great workout and I quickly lose inches in my waist, thighs and hips when I do it regularly.
-
Thanks! I'll join in if it's okay.

Just wondering if this thread is for people over 40 years of age or those that need to lose over 40 lbs?

I have had the same thing going on. I am exercising for an hour 4 times a week. I am counting all my calories, eating my exercise calories, drinking water and still I gained weight. I'm so frustrated. The only thing that is keeping me on this path is that I know I've lost inches. I measured myself when I started and have…
