I'm bumping this instead of creating a new thread. These have been a lifesaver for me. I LOVE them. Flatbread pizza on them is so good and it is so big that it is really filling and I don't feel like I'm cheating myself. In the last few weeks I have used them for pizza, wraps, fajitas, burritos, quesadillas, and even as a…

I do think that it is because a lot of people want to lose the most amount of weight in the least amount of time and by picking the highest goal their calorie count is as low as it will allow. I know that was me until I realized that it just wasn't going ot work for me and eating more and focusing on the specifics…

Honestly, I would just avoid conversations related to your weight loss/healthy lifestyle. If they bring it up or make comments I would just try not to get into it. Maybe you could say, "I feel a lot better than I did," or "I'm not really doing this for anybody but myself so I would appreciate if you keep the negative…

No idea if you'll think this is gross but I love putting chips in my sandwiches. So, sometimes I will just do that since it is only 2 or 3 chips vs. a lot more and I still get that yummy crunch with my sandwich. :)

I don't track my sugar but I did see that I was over on my carbs by quite a bit even though everything else was within the right range. Set out to keep with my carb goal and reducing that also led to reducing my sugar. Within four days I lost 2 pounds and am continuing to lose by doing this. I hadn't lost a pound in the…

I've just started lowering my carbs to around 130 a day. One thing I did was switch out my 2% milk for Hood Calorie Countdown 2% dairy beverage. Less carbs and sugar. I've also had to eliminate all the yummy bread I would eat. I now do franz 40 calorie whole wheat bread. It is 40 calories per slice, less sugar and carbs.…

But there are many other things that are different today besides spanking being accepted. I think there are too many other variables at play to equate spanking being less accepted and kids having no respect.
-
You can "spare the rod" without coddling a child though. We don't spank but we certainly don't coddle either. I have worked with many children who have tons of behavior problems that are spanked on a regular basis.

From what I've seen from others on here and in comparison to their heart rate monitors it does seem to overestimate quite a bit on the calories burned. But there is no easy way for them to be calculated - exercises done don't determined the calories burned it is the person doing the exercises. (Their age, size, amount of…

I don't think so. But I think with anything, moderation is good. But, honestly, if you are doing well with what you are doing I wouldn't worry about it.

The only thing that worked for me when the kids were that little were walks at night. Either my husband and I would go together and each push a stroller or I would go with the double stroller. Or one would stay home while I went with one in the stroller. It's hard. Focus on your eating, that will help a ton. The exercise…

I agree, they don't have to be mutually exclusive. I would do whatever you think you can keep up for the long run. I also think that lower carbs is preferable to low carbs. See what you're eating now and try to lower it - I think for most people doing very low carb is not something they want to do forever so it isn't…

Maybe it was carbs, not calories.

Also wanted to add that my kids are very well behaved. We don't spank but we don't put up with them acting up outside the bounds of normal kid behavior. They are polite and respectful and respond well to time outs and counting to three. They hate when I start to count! That being said I work with children with really…

Nope. I strongly believe that in the way most people use it, it doesn't work. Not saying there are situations where it hasn't worked but generally speaking I think people use it as a way to unload their frustration and the children typically don't learn anything from getting spanked. (Not to mention a whole host of other…

You mentioned that you are having a hard time with the carbs - I was too. I had to really look at my eating habits and see what I could change. I changed the kind of bread I eat and eat much less bread than I used to. I was used to eating some kind of bread with every meal - toast at breakfast, sandwich for lunch, roll…

I found that just monitoring calories was not producing any weight loss. I don't have a lot to lose - 20 is my ultimate goal but that would include those last 10 "vanity pounds." When I looked back the only areas that were over the limit were carbs and sugar. So, for me it is not just calories in, calories out. I monitor…

What is your activity level set to?

I love Brian Regan and Jim Gaffigan. "There is the vegetarian hot pocket for those of us who don't want to eat meat but would still like diarrhea." Cracks me up. I think Brian Regan is hilarious. He is not vulgar at all, which I like.

Starvation mode is thrown around too much, IMO. Not that it doesn't happen but if this is a one day type of thing then your body is not going to go into starvation mode. Your net is definitely too low, and I would venture to say that your goal is probably on the low side as well. That being said, I am not a doctor,…

It's 3. You can round down to 30 minutes just to make it easier. 30x2=60 (1 hour) 1.5x2=3 (miles) So, it's 3 mph, not 2.5

Just wanted to add that I'm just starting day 3 of not going crazy with carbs and I'm down 1.5 pounds. For someone who has been stuck for 1.5 months, this is really exciting! I'm not doing low carb but finally following my recommended based on my settings and I think it is just what my body needed! I'm also getting in the…

There are so many variables. Is it an everyday thing? Just one day? Also, it can be different for every person. I have been spot on for everything but carbs and not losing weight. My calories were always where they should be as well as my fiber, sodium, water, etc. But for some people they can merely watch their calories…

Sounds like a fantastic first day! Great job. Welcome to MFP!

You look great. I definitely agree that you look much younger!

I started following it 100% because I didn't know enough not to. As I learned more about my body and what I should be doing I have adjusted things. My goals are set so that it is 40/30/30 carbs/fat/protein. I also upped my fiber to 25. I've had to play around with calories and realize that 2 pounds a week weight loss was…

I am right there with you! I've stayed within my calories for a month and a half and am not losing. Got my protein, fiber, water all up and still wasn't losing. Tried zig zagging my calories, still not seeing any loss. So, I went through my diary and saw that I am consistenly over on carbs - and typically WAY over even…
-
I would log it into your diary. I've done that before - not with alcohol but other things that I thought wouldn't matter - and it's better to just log it all. I think when you mentally do the math for this kind of stuff (at least for me) I overestimate my exercise and underestimate my eating. If you're going to make up for…
-
I am doing this except I didn't choose the extreme suggestion. The thing is with the extreme I think the calories are too low and because they are that low (probably based on your size and height) there really isn't zig zagging going on. I did the other option and am finding it to help. I have it set up so the higher days…

I agree! In the past when I've done it I didn't stick with level 2 for long. I LOVED level 3 and hated level 2. :)
