I don`t have a goal per day, but generally when I go to the gym I try to burn at least 500 calories to make it worth my while, and on days I don`t go to the gym I make sure I go for a long walk!

It`s the last place I lose my weight! I don`t know why but I wish I could take them down a cup size or two.

I just got one this week too, but I haven't seen anything like that happen... I don't think it's normal. I have noticed that when I wear it outside and it's super cold, the display becomes lethargic and doesn't change very well, but that's it...

Also, he won't be at the gym 24/7... maybe if he works mornings or evenings, you could go at a different time?

Same here.... without knowing what you were talking about, it sounded a little .... um, naughty :P

Plain puffed wheat and Shredded Wheat (or Shredded Wheat & Bran) have no salt or sodium. I eat both of those with a bit of cereal that does have some sugar (usually All Bran Buds), a few raisins and a drizzle of honey :)

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing!

I eat PB & J almost every day for lunch. i have it on two whole wheat slices of bread, which has 10g of protein and 6 g of fibre, and have a bit over a tablespoon of natural PB and some low-sugar jam. It's delicious and filling and easy and cheap, so that's why I eat it! It's around 400 cals, which is good for a meal. Just…

Well, your sister-in-law's boyfriend sounds like a tool, for one thing! You're doing this for yourself - not him or anyone else. Don't let him discourage you. (Why would anyone call someone fat - especially in an email, when you have complete control over what you write and edit before you press send?) Try not to compare…

For me, when I go on vacation I get this 'vacation mentality' where it doesn't matter what I do, it's vacation! But then reality hits like a ton of bricks when I get home. So try to avoid the 'vacation mentality'. I'd say continue logging your calories if possible (even jotting down in a notebook with estimated guesses),…

I agree, 7 lbs in 3-4 weeks is nothing to sneeze at! You're doing fantastic. Those lbs will really add up fast!

Can you sometimes say that you're just so full, or not feeling great, but you'd love to take lots home with you? That way, you make her feel like you want them but you don't actually have to eat them all? (or pop them in the freezer for a later date?) the long term solution is to talk to her and try to get her to…

I thought heating diet pop was bad - something to do with a chemical change in the aspartame, or something. I remember reading that if you leave a can of pop in a hot place (like a car on a hot summer day) you should throw it out. So I don't know about baking it?? I'd have to research it a bit more, though.

I've thought of doing that too (I often do it with pesto and salad dressing!) but as someone before me said, it won't be stir-able or spreadable if you do that, so I wouldn't!! :) Maybe you could remove just a little bit.... a couple tablespoons?

I keep mine open (can't imagine any possible privacy issues!) and it's great because I know some of my friends do check it every night, and knowing that always makes me make better choices!!

I'm totally not a doctor, but my experience with knee popping was that when I started riding the stationary bike, my knees would build pressure and pop like no one's business, and it hurt. When I stopped running on the treadmill, all the pain in my knees went away and I can bike without my knees popping (and climb the…

I'm awful with this too, but now we leave our bags right beside the front door instead of tucked away, and so far we've been better about remembering them!!

I'm so sorry you're going through this - what an awful situation. I have no experience to guide my answer, but I think that divorce is a very big and final step and that you want to be very sure that's what you want to do before you do it. Could you possibly talk to a counselor or someone who could help you decide? Without…

I'm also a PhD student, in my (hopefully) last year :) I don't know how much I can help out, because I have a very different schedule. I go to the gym when it opens around 7 am, and then come home, eat and get ready and go into the lab around 10 or 11. I have no classes, just experiments and writing, so my schedule is very…

Why would I want to scoop out all that bagelly deliciousness?? :D

I've had to deal with a bit of chafing lately from a new pair of jeans that rub on my inner thighs when it's really cold out - I've fixed it (so far) by wearing long johns underneath. Maybe you could find a pair of spandex or something tight that fits? Good luck! It is such a pain to deal with.

That's the lovely thing about counting your calories - once you get started, you really find out where the hidden traps are, and then you can modify the recipe the next time accordingly! Good luck!

mmm, I'm pretty sure you account for the whole thing. That's what I'd do, anyway. Unless you drain some of the leftover oil later.

I generally figure out how fast I walk by mapping my route online, (mapmyrun.com) and then figuring out how long it took me to walk it. It almost always gives me back 3.5 mph, so now that's the speed I put myself down as walking. If I'm going for a walk on the treadmill, I can keep it up around 4.2 relatively comfortably,…

I have a snack before my workout, high protein like greek yogurt or a protein bar, about 100 - 150 calories worth. I don't want a big breakfast sloshing around in my belly, but I need something to keep it from growling and give me some energy. Then I eat breakfast (usually a bowl of cereal) when I come in, because I'm…

when you have a ham bone left over with some meat on it, make split pea soup!!!! It's so fantastic on cold winter nights and super high in fibre and protein!! :D I can give you my recipe if you want it!!

I'm not sure, but I feel less hungry on the days that I work out rather than the days I don't. I think part of it is because I work out in the morning, it changes the times of my meals a bit, and a later breakfast keeps me fuller for longer. But maybe it does have some appetite suppressing effect? I don't know! Oh: Also,…

That would by my preferred place to lose inches!! Congrats! :)

I wouldn't call it a NSV, but for me it's just how good I feel when I eat well and work out. I have energy, a nice endorphin kick, and I don't have that awful feeling of being so full that it hurts. I like waking up in the morning hungry and not bloated and yucky from a huge meal the night before!!
