I basically did the same thing, lost 30 lbs. and then gained it back. Now I'm on the way down again, but doing it better and with more support. Good luck to you, you can do it!

I learned something interesting today from Jonny Bowden (master nutritionist and author). I was listening to "9 Essential Steps to Weight Loss" (it's a CD), and he said when we're stressed, cortisol is released in our systems; cortisol then makes us crave carbs and sugar. So those stress-related calories we're eating have…

The royal wedding. I'm happy for them, but come on. Spring break -- it's meant a lack of sleep. Eating crappy. I did enough of that yesterday for the entire month!

Oh, my goodness! I'm so sorry you hurt yourself. It sounds like you could use one session with a personal trainer to be sure you are using correct form. And I'm with you on the warm-ups; I find that if I walk on the treadmill 15 minutes before doing exercise DVD's, it really keeps me from pulling anything. My body takes…

I had that problem after my third baby; Kegels took care of it for me. It also can lead to better orgasms (Kegels, not leaking!).

Oh, my goodness, Amanda! I'm so sorry. That is a TON of stress, and good grief, I would be eating everything that wasn't nailed down if I were you all. Will definitely say some prayers for you all.

I would LOVE the answer to the emotional eating question! I try to eat healthy and especially incorporate a lot of veggies & fruits into my diet, but I think allowing for treats & cheats within reason is just mentally healthy. I'm just starting on SOME days to be really good about moderating my treats, so I can have a…

Maybe you aren't eating enough? Are you doing the same workout daily? Our bodies tend to pick a set point and then stay there when we don't mix it up. Good luck, don't give up!

Well, just got back from a HORRIBLE eating day, and it's hilarious to see my friends handing my a** to me on MFP.com, the most positive site I know! Thanks to all who posted, even those who let me have it. I usually try to be extremely supportive & encouraging, but when I see someone eating 900 calories, I get worried. I…

I am doing ChaLEAN Extreme and loving it; it's 35-45 minutes 5X a week and for me schedule-wise, it's very doable. You do need weights, or you can use the band that you get with the program. Anything that's high intensity interval training (like P90X) will work. Good luck!

Welcome, and your doctor is so right! This site is very encouraging, inspiring, and motivating. It really, truly helps, not just to log food & exercise, but find like-minded friends as well. Good luck & keep up the good work!
-
WOW, that is so inspiring! And you're right, we get so caught up in the numbers sometimes that we forget how we FEEL about it really matters. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work!

I haven't tried it yet, but I did try Shaun T's 20-minute Insanity Workout, which I could not finish! Beach Body has very high quality interval training. (in the spirit of full disclosure, I am a BB coach). Good for you, keep up the good work!

Welcome & good for you! I LOVE this place -- very supportive, encouraging and positive. Good luck to you!

they're not great for you, but you can "cut" the badness -- I add an egg for protein and about 1/4 cup of benefiber for fiber. If you can get a better recipe, that helps. Probably hits your bloodstream fairly quickly, though, insofar as insulin spiking goes.

Even though 1 lb = 1 lb, fat is fluffy and bulky and muscle is tight and small. You WILL be smaller the more muscle you build; it's counter-intuitive. Are you doing steady state or interval training? I'm telling you, switching it up every few days or at least every few weeks is the way to make your body keep guessing. If…

It sounds like you may need to eat more. Also, what kind of exercise are you doing? If you're doing steady state, it may not be enough to jolt your body into changing. Good luck!

Well, there's no doubt that beer anyway (unlike red wine) is not good for you. The question is: what can YOU live with? If you don't have a workable plan, you don't have a plan. If this is something you enjoy, figure out how to incorporate it into your life without shooting yourself in the foot. Because it does lower…

Remember that term "homeostasis" from 10th grade biology? Your body LOVES to pick a spot & stay there; it's the reason we all hit plateaus and THE reason you need to "trick" your body into continually changing by changing your routine at least every few weeks. The best way to keep it guessing is HIIT -- high intensity…

Sounds good to me! Great post.

I'm with you on this one. I find it crass and not remotely funny. It's an acceptable prejudice, unfortunately.

Congrats, Amanda! I'm stepping into week2 of CLX Burn Phase beginning tomorrow; I can already tell it's going to work. I forgot to measure inches last week and need to do so today. Keep it up, you can do it!

Well, I guess I'm one of the few, because, yes, I do walk at night, and my mom (shocker!) and my neighbor/friend give me a hard time about it. I try to be aware of my surroundings. As for creeps, yes, they're everywhere, but you probably have a MUCH greater chance of being killed in a car accident than by some psycho in…

How intensely are you exercising? Are you doing strength training or just cardio? If you do up calories, make sure they're HEALTHY calories (like protein, veggies or fruit). Good luck!

Girl up, girl! Yeah, I'm totally kidding. This is that missing link that the nutritionists/personal trainers talk about. There is a mind/body connection, and how you feel about yourself and how well you look after yourself is definitely affected by exercise or no exercise. My hubby & I call it my "happy pill." If I'm…

I am married, but I met a friend on here (female), and we now meet about once a week to walk/run. She introduced me to my new workout regime, ChaLEAN Extreme, which I just finished the first week of, and I am SORE. I LOVE this site for all of its positivity (not to mention at times hilarity)! Good post!
-
Wow! Congrats on doing such a great job so far! I just finished week 1 of ChaLEAN Extreme and I LOVE it (even though she is kicking my butt). Keep up the great work!

Don't worry about sugar in fruit, unless it's a high sugar fruit like pineapple (and then just eat in moderation). In addition to (natural) sugars in apples, they have a high water content, high fiber content, PLUS vitamins & nutrients! Keep eating apples, girl!

Plus, muscle tightens everything! Muscles are sexy!

I don't know what she specifically did, but I'll be it was with a personal trainer. P90X is probably the program that would get you in that kind of shape, though, that's available to the general public. Good luck!
