My question is why are you binging when you get home? Are you not eating breakfast and/or lunch? I suspect the problem is not your caloric goal, but how you are distributing the calories throughout the day, If you are eating a decent breakfast and lunch, perhaps a mid-afternoon snack will help you beat those at-home…

Once again I am reminded that I might need a new set of glasses. I read: What's the best way to celebrate reaching a GOAT. Ouch.

I understand what you are saying. So many people are convinced there is an easy way, and that some of us have stumbled upon the magic pill. Watch faces glaze over when you say you are exercising hours a week and/or giving up favorite foods or drastically reducing portion sizes. Then there are the people who simply…

What about the "formula?" Minimum age to date is half your age + 7? Oldest age to date is two times (your age -7).

Daily. I don't freak out over the rollercoaster of readings, but I do like to keep an eye on trends.

I add 1/2 cup of 1% milk and a scoop of whey protein powder to a bowl of oatmeal. Roughly 42/42/16 ratio of Protein/Carbs/Fat.

Jackiesue, although I am much, much younger than you (I don't turn 55 until May 1) as you can see by my ticker it has worked for me. The only thing I noticed was that I had better success if I only ate back about 1/2 to 3/4 of the exercise calories. Here is why: My body, per MFP calculations, burns about 2100 calories a…

Two things mystify me about Shakeology. First, all Beachbody programs stress the importance of eating fresh, unprocessed foods and getting your nutrients from said food, rather than from artificial means. Then, on the heels of this, they endorse (dare I say "push") Shakeology as the way to ensure proper nutrition.…

First of all, I need to get my glasses prescription checked, since I thought the topic read "Buying used ham". That aside, the only issue I can think of about a used HRM is the battery in the chest strap. Some are replaceable, others are not. My Polar is really old, but keeps perking along on its permanent battery, but…

I think that what is better is whatever you feel you will have the highest likelihood of sticking with. Sticking with a non-optimal program is far better than dropping out of the best program in the world.

White lies can be your friend. Be honest about your pre-diabetes and tell them that is why you can't eat their "tasty food" (don't insult their food) and you would appreciate their help avoiding it. Bring something healthy or at least less-bad. Learning to handle public situations -- a tray of tasty appetizers at the…

What is wrong with the view of the woman who thinks "before" pictures are fat-shaming, is that she is completely ignoring intent. The intent of the picture is not to shame others, but to say "I wanted to make changes in my life, and I did!" Is is couch-potato shaming to say you ran your first 5k? Or is it simply taking…

The muscles I work out have names: Obstinate *kitten*. Owie Ow Ow. Pathetic. Oh God That Hurts. There are others, but decorum prevents me from mentioning them by name.

Cheat day has different meanings to different people. I read a post from a MFP member who realized that her undocumented "cheat day" was more than undoing the caloric deficit she had made over the six days she was good. Others look at cheat day as a day to indulge a bit, but not toss the baby out with the bathwater. I…

Type Double-D. Just kidding! Really! To be honest I find reading about how others are changing their lives more than I like cheers or jeers in my direction.

Only a real man can sit at the bar in his pink shirt and jorts drinking a fruity drink through a straw without feeling self-conscious. Hell, maybe even while wearing sandals and tall black socks. Ok, maybe the footwear is going too far...

There is a well known phenomenon that those of us new to strenuous exercise can lose fat and build muscle at the same time. The gym term for this is "Newbie gains" and it has been proven through research, although I can't find the reference at the moment.

I am thankful to no longer have young children in the house and a wife who is as committed to a healthier future as I am. No chocolate or other easter candies in the house. (Black jelly beans are my true downfall.)

Weights first, but only because cardio first causes me to sweat all over the weight equipment. Bad gym etiquette. (BTW someday I will learn to spell etiquette and not have to have auto correct figure it out for me.)

I have the problem of a pregnant looking poochie tummy after losing weight. Being a man, it is even more embarrassing.

I would enter into a conversation with her calling a truce. I won't say anything about your weight what you eat, and in return you will do the same regarding my exercise and what I eat.

If it is something they bought: Sorry, I'm not hungry. If it is something they cooked, baked, etc: That looks wonderful and I wish I could, but I can't.
