My Attempt to Become Less of a Man -- a comedy of sorts [PICS]
(apologies if photos are big -- photobucket resize has a bit of a lag) Less Paul Project 2015: First 8 hours went without a hitch. No hunger pangs, no binge eating, nothing calorically rich. Now awake. Day 1: Twenty-six more minutes till I can eat again. Just noticed menu suggestions on microwave. All sound good. Day 2:…

DNA response types and to train strengths vs weaknesses?
There has been recent research into DNA makeup and the body's response to exercise. It turns out that there are genetic markers which indicate where one falls on the effort vs effect curve of cardio interval training. A small number of people are non-responders, a small number are super-responders, and the rest of us fall…

Is your belly fat really just migrated pubic tissue?
Does wearing whitie-tighties really cause a migration of size from a desirable area to one less impressive? Is your jock strap properly fitted? Are you wearing the wrong size cup?

Free weights?
Seems most people endorses free weights over machines, and I guess that only makes sense. It is better for your muscles and the machines can only do one movement, and are so expensive. But where do you find free weights? I looked on craig's list, went to ****'s Sporting goods, and browsed Amazon, yet all the weights I…

Women and self-image
Ok, I saw this a couple days ago and though it is humor, it well fits many women I know. Women are too hard on themselves, and it can be a vicious circle. I thought about posting this in grins and giggles, cuz it is a comedy clip, but the underlying message is too important. Language is NSFW. Amy Schumer's "Compliments"…

An important announcement.
I am not a Beachbody coach. (I'm beginning to think that if those who are _not_ Beachbody Coaches post, rather than those who are, there will be less to wade through.) </end cynical banter> :ohwell:

Fat Shaming? What about health shaming?
RANT There is a lot of buzz these days about fat shaming. Some of the claims are over the top, such as perceiving the sign listing the calories of oatmeal vs a bagel. That said, fat shaming does exist, and making someone feel bad about themselves in this high stress world is seldom a good idea. However, body shaming is not…

Help! I must not be exercising correctly!
I've been exercising now for almost three months, yet somehow I am not getting the results I see in all the before/after pics others post, both here and on popular exercise program sites. For some reason, no matter how hard I exercise, my chest and back hair remains unchanged! For everyone else, as they get fit, toned,…

The down sides of weight loss
I know the forum topic is "Motivation and Support." This post falls under the latter. We all know that losing weight and gaining fitness is a tough road. We know we will have to make life changes, trade sofa/TV time for more active pursuits. It is no surprise that we must forego or at least limit some of our favorite go-to…

Old-ish fellow looking for like minded friends.
Hello. I'll do my damndest to keep this short. I'm male, 55, and having been diagnosed with Dermatomyositis with overlap Scleroderma at age 38, I was finally forced into retirement due to my health at age 50. Due to disease, side-effects of medication, and a newly sedentary lifestyle I gained 40 lbs and became terribly…

Are you a goal scooter?
Seems that I'm never going to reach a goal, cuz as soon as I get close I feel motivated and I scoot it down a few more pounds. Way back when my goal was 175, which is what I weighted 30 years ago. Recently my goal was 169, which would put me at an even 40 lbs lost. Now my goal is 155 based on my remaining spare tire.

Zombies!
Several people have posted in the "Strange reasons" thread that they want to get fit in order to survive the Zombie apocalypse. To that end: Zombie infested 5k runs: http://www.runforyourlives.com/ And an app for your smartphone to motivate you to run (including Zombie themed story and background)…

At it for about a year...
I started my weight loss journey after seeing myself in 2010 Christmas photos. By June I was down from 199 to 166, and I've been slowly peeling off a few more pounds toward my goal of 150. Although must confess to a few diet-be-damned days this holiday season, I'm now at 159. I'm really happy about my progress. The strange…
