  • Sounds about right. Don't worry about calories, just focus on the protein and water and you will be fine. It takes time but things will gradually creep upward. I think for me it was around 7 - 8 months out. Susan
  • FANTASTIC!! You go girl!!
  • My longest stall was about 8 weeks. I stall often and for long periods of time, then the scale begins to move. Keep doing what you are supposed to be doing, and once it breaks you will see a lot of movement suddenly. I try to ignore the stalls now. I am 20 months out. Susan
  • I had these kinds of issues after the surgery. Pat is right on with what she suggested. Also, I was told to liberalise my salt. I found that I would experience real dizzines issues because my sodium was reduced, and especially if I was exerting myself and sweating. I found that I had to be sure I was drinking a zero…
  • It took me about 6 weeks to get any semblance of energy and stamina back. Just try to keep in mind that you had major surgery and your body needs some time to heal. The energy will return and as you get further along you will be amazed at what you can do.
  • I too am sorry that you are having a tough time. I did not have alot of pain afterwards, but did feel terribley nauseuas for the first 3-4 days. After that it got much easier. My doctors had good medicine for it and it was kept firmly in check. I think after most surgery you feel like you were hit by a mack truck, but that…
  • It is hard at first. This is a huge change and change is more difficult for some than others. There are alot of people who say it was not that much of an interruption, but I did find it to be a huge adjustment. At first I didn't feel good, and then I felt weak for much longer than I would have thought. A month out I was…
  • I am 18 months out and color on a regular basis. Like most, I did experience alot of hair loss, (not sure when it started) but I cut my hair to shoulder length (it was at my waist) and have had regrowth at a regular pace. Fortunately most of the hair loss was underneath and around my hair line, so it wasnt really obvious.…
  • I think what you are experiencing is pretty normal. I think its the hi protein that causes the issue. I had issues for about the first 7 months or so after surgery. I make an effort to be sure to get lots of fiber on a regular basis. Now being 15 months out I make sure to eat some raw vegies and a fruit daily, and that…
  • Congratulations!! Good luck...SOOOO Exciting!!
  • I think this is a completely valid question. I know for myself it had become near impossible to lose any weight and when I did manage to, it came back with an additonal 15 or 20 lbs. I had pretty much given up on trying because I just felt I could no longer afford the rubber band rebound. I did start to consider this as…
  • Great work keeping on your plan with everything going on around you. The surgery will be worth it!! Good luck... Susan
  • Good luck!! You will do great!!
  • Once I got all the appointments done and submitted the insurance request, I got the ok in 3 days time. They scheduled me on the first available date (I was very anxious about getting it done quickly) which was 3.5 weeks later. Good luck!! Suz
  • Warm weather !!! I am scheduled to have my hip replacement done this May so once that is done I am sooooooo looking forward to not limping, being able to exercise and be out in the sun enjoying life!!

  • This is the best way for you to move forward. don not let the nerves make you second guess the decision. You have made an educated choice and it will be the very best thing for you. You will do great!! Suz
  • I like Sobe 0 calorie flavored water. Strawberry dragonfruit is my fav. I also drink sparkling ice waters. They are carbonated, but I let them sit and go flat. they are good that way as well. The only time I like plain water is when it is really hot outside. Otherwise, I drink one of those and sometimes I like cinnamon…
  • Happy 40/40!! Congrats on all that progress!

  • I feel for you!! I was stalled from a little before 6 months post op to around 8.5 months out. I had a similar experience right around where you are. I was stalled for a full 3 months. It did finally break, but it felt like forever!! The Doc told me to up the protein and water intake and try to contimue to exercise…
  • I am in eastern Pa outside of Philly. Had my surgery end of Jan 2013. This was the best gift i could have ever given myself.
  • I LOVE my coffee!! Drink it all morning and cut it off after 3 pm, because it does tend to affect my sleep...caffienated or not. I slowly cut down my coffee before surgery by making a pot with some decaf and gradually increasing the decaf till it was the whole pot. then I just eased off the quantity. That was pretty easy…
  • It is common to hit stalls that last for day or weeks. I stall frequently, but tend to lose quickly after one breaks. It is so frustrating, especially at the beginning, but I have gotten used to it, so its gotten easier on me emotionally. Just keep working the program and do what your Doc says. It will break and it will…
  • I lost about 20 lbs the first month out. By 3 months out I was down 45 lbs post op. by a year I was down 100 lbs. I am one of those people who stall frequently and lose weight in clumps. I follow the plan and it works. Try not to worry about everyone else...we are all very different. Do what you are told and it will…
  • My surgery went fine with no complications. I also had my gall bladder out at the same time. I went home from the hospital the next day and was in a decent amount of discomfort. By 3 days out I felt "normal" and started to return to a routine. I used pain killers the first day or so and after that it was straight Tylenol.…
  • Your body has been through a pretty major trauma, so it is taking some time to adjust to the new "normal" You also may be one of those people more prone to stalls (as am I ). Keep following directives, while making sure you are getting enough protein and water. It will all kick back in and when it does you will see lots of…
  • Hi, I completely undestand where you are. I was sleeved a year ago and have lost 125+ lbs (including presurgery dieting). I really was ok with my wight for a long time, until it became obvious that there were other implications and I was quickly moving along towards diabetes and heart failure. I was very hesitant about…
  • How far out from surgery are you? At the start it is not about calories. What is most important is that you are getting your fluids in and getting the 60 grams of protein. Dont stress about calories. And try not to stress about how the weight is coming off or not coming off. It will come off in time. Just do what you need…
  • I had my sleeve done in Jan 2013, so I am almost a year out. I have lost 125 lbs so far, and would like to lose another 30 (but this is something that keeps getting adjusted). I had no complications from the surgery, and things have become very second nature to me at this point. I had about 4 days of discomfort from the…
  • Congrats!! Nervous and excited is completely normal. You will do great! Get better soon and let us all know how it went... Suz
  • My surgeon quoted me a 60% of excess weight be taken off. I started at 327 lbs, and he says I should weigh 128 (which sounds nuts to me...I am 5' 5 1/2 " ) I am almost one year out from surgery and including presurgery loss I am 125 lbs down, which is more than he quoted. My personal goal is 165-170, which is completely…
