This is true. only 1400 calories a day isn't going to get anyone big. Then again, I'll never understand why women are afraid of gaining muscle.

Look at Jamie Eason's LiveFit program. It's a really great program to work your way up. Once you've completed that program (it runs for 3 months) you should have a bit more knowledge and a solid base to work with. From there you can branch out.

A lot of this has to do with form. Some lifts are hip dominant (dead lift) while some are quad dominant (front squat). I realize this thread is a bit old, but to quote Wendler when asked where to put complexes in your workout... "After your workout. Or in the trash can." I put my complexes at the end of the workout to really maximize fat loss, and to increase my workload.
