  • omg...I don't know how I am supposed to limit myself to just one. If I could, I'd probably be skinny. I like the idea about freezing one and drinking it slowly but still....i can never just have one. :/ so I go for the stronger stuff that takes less to get a buzz hahha.
  • oops... using my phone. didnt mean to quote that! anyhow. I have the same problem. I lose a few pounds and start getting really confident because my clothes aren't as tight. I guess I start slacking a bit since I don't feel as fat. then after a couple weeks I'm back to square one. is that you? I guess it's about being…
  • I've done both in the last year. Weight Watchers is good but I think MFP is better because you deal with the real nutrients in food. I think it's better in the long run. And it's free.
  • Since you have started making your lifestyle healthier, you want to surround yourself with people and things that have a positive impact on you. I think I would tell her that you love her and really want her by your side in your journey....but she is actually having a negative impact on what you are trying to do. I would…
  • I would still workout. I don't think walking would do anything.
  • ^^ This. If you are busy running around at the restuarant all day, I'd first focus on your deficit. Being able to move all day is great so take advantage of it! I sit at a desk all day and it is super hard to get moving most days. I bought a fitbit device and it has really helped. Also, try taking an hour for your lunch.…
  • I agree. Also, I think when we try to limit our calories and get the biggest bang for our buck....its natural to start eating healthier. Like you said, you are already eating better.
  • I think it is worth it. I never wanted a fitbit -- thought they were stupid -- and then bought one last week because our company store had one and the lady said its neat. I absolutely LOVE it. It is a total game changer. I REALLY want the Charge HR...and I think that would be good for you. It is a little pricey BUT it is a…
  • I watched reviews on both yesterday. The surge has an ungodly amount of options for tracking workouts -- even weight lifting. To be honest, it overwhelmed me. It is touchscreen and you swipe through all the options (I would forget where they all are and be late doing a workout). Personally, after seeing its functionality…
  • I've lived in Wisconsin all my life. I'm in the Madison area.
  • I have a medium to larger 5'3" frame and my current goal is 137lbs. I look and feel fine at that weight. Then I will slowly go for 127...which is my perfect healthy weight.
  • Oh wow. You have got to be phenominally stacked! haha. You do all of that and eat just about as much as I do per day? Are you losing weight? Aren't you fatigued??
  • That sounds like good advice actually. I can definitely tell that my body works hard during and after a workout. I don't mind eating at maintenance for awhile. I'm not in a huge hurry to lose weight. I'm sure weight lifting will still allow me to lose weight very slowly eating at maintenance as long as I'm using sedentary…
  • How long have you been lifting? Do you have a specific program? Do you do cardio?
  • No I just finished my 3rd week.
  • Carbs - 40% Fat - 30% Protein - 30% But honestly....I haven't really been going off of those. I have just been trying to stay under my maintenance calories and getting protein
  • Wow. I just did my 3rd SL5x5 workout for the week. Now that I understand what it does to my system, I totally believe that I am putting too much strain on my body with so many sets. I think 3x5 might be more managable for me. And not focusing so much on increasing my weights each time. More like each week seems like a…
  • You guys keep talking about these power cleans....and I have no idea what you are talking about! hahah. I'd google them....but from this conversation, they sound pretty intense. I'll leave well enough alone :)
  • ^^^ Thank you :) I will
  • I'm not trying to bulk. From what I've read, SL5x5 is designed to make you stronger, not huge. Muscle burns fat and keeps your metabolism running higher. Two key elements in trying to lose body fat. Does anyone else believe doing SL5x5 while having a goal of losing body fat is a bad idea? I would love to hear about a…
  • Today I'm lifting. It's my 3rd day for this week. I am feeling better today...I hope I don't crash this afternoon after the workout. I will definitely post something about it if I do. However, many of you guys mentioned eating 1 - 3 hours before my workout. I typically eat around 11:00am and then do my lifting at 12:30pm.…
  • I'm currently not doing anything other than SL5x5. I have a desk job, and sit all day. I get roughly 8 hours of sleep each night. Though I am always on the go when I get home. I do my weightlifting at 12:30pm M,W,Th and I don't have anything specific prior. I usually eat something about 30 minutes after my workout.
  • Is there really that big of a caloric burn after a heavy lifting session? My workouts are about 30 minutes long but I have a minute and a half or more of rest between each set. So I'm actually sitting for most of those 30 minutes. I just feel like I'm not doing "enough" as it is....and to think that I am exerting myself…
  • I eat roughly 1650 calories on average, per day. I'm 5'3" and 143lbs. I don't think that is too little of a deficit for weight lifting. Or am I wrong? Should I be eating more? My goal is to lose weight, but I'm doing it very slowly. At 1650 calories....I'm teetering on maintenance.
  • I think you are right. It's my CNS. BUT....it sounds like what you are saying is that I am kicking my own rear-end, each time I do a SL5x5 workout? Because I don't feel that beat up immediatly after the workout itself. Its a couple hours later. And I'm not doing killer amounts of weight either. For instance, I STILL have a…
  • Oh...and right now I am only doing SL5x5. Just 3x a week. The plan was to walk or do the elliptical Tues & Thurs but I haven't incorporated that just yet. So I am getting plenty of rest between workouts.
  • Stronglifts 5x5 is pretty tough, but I'm actually not feeling that sore after a workout. Just REALLY exhausted. I compare the feeling to getting the flu. Chills, tired, achy. Not sore achy...just achy as in my muscles are spent with nothing left. I'm not using a protein powder or doing anything special "pre" or "post"…
  • ^^ Totally agree. I don't know as you need to think, "I need to have a purpose" as much as just live your life and be happy with what you are doing. Do what you need to do to make your own life fullfiling and then things end up being your purpose for life. I don't think anyone can tell us our purpose, we have to create it.
  • I didn't read the article but I will say that I had little to no progress with my weightloss until I stopped logging/eating my exercise calories. I just know that it's ok to eat a little more on days I'm super active. So far, this process is working.
