  • Why do you think people in here have a knowledge base regarding marijuana? I’ve not heard of it leading to weight loss, and in fact experienced the opposite when I was a college student... as most did (it’s called the munchies for a reason!).
  • I’m in the Facebook group. I can’t imagine that they’d mean to ignore your request to join. @empressichel is a moderator of that group and watches over their fitbit page, so hopefully she will see this and work out what the next step is. You’re probably in the moderate activity level, maybe even high... Most people are…
  • Oh dear, honey, you’re hungry because you’re FAMISHED! Your poor body needs nutrients and energy. Unfortunately, I have a similar story as you, although I think Mum was a better cook and I’m now fat. But I’m stronger than I’ve ever been and understand so much more about myself and the frigging diet culture we are ruled by.…
  • Go you! I lasted about 3 or 4 weeks when I tried last time, then freaked out a bit. Hopefully next time I'll be ready. Keep sharing how it goes - I'm interested in any tips on sustaining a cut. :)
  • Keep plodding on. Sometimes it takes a second round of cut before anything happens on the scales. Or so I've read! How many weeks are you cutting for?
  • It's probably related to being told to eat everything on your plate, because of the poor starving people in Africa... ie you were programmed from birth by your parents (who likely went through times of food insecurity and had their own issues that were shared through the generations). So, for starters, acknowledge that it…

  • Don't try to do everything all at once. Just focus on increasing your protein until it's a habit to eat more of it. Then work on the next little thing. Chipping away is more sustainable than taking a chainsaw to your lifestyle and diet.
  • Wow. Great skill to have. And look at your measurements - the scale is inching up, but the measurements are not. That's pretty cool... you're building muscle!
  • It looks like your abdomen has continued to reduce throughout the time you've been following this approach. It's dropped substantially in size! It does look like you've had some fluid retention, but you have a good attitude about it. And it will leave soon. I hope your legs fell better soon.
  • Hey! I wondered how you were. Strange thing to happen. Glad you're going well.
  • Don't forget that the healing process requires energy, Kelly. If you drop calories, don't drop too many - you may underestimate how useful that extra energy is for healing and the extra effort required for everyday movement because of the surgery... Cheers Annette
  • Hi @Kylie - this group is great! You won't meet any nasty campers here! That being said, the EM2WL approach does not support the Slimming World approach - 1200 calories is around the number we would eat by lunch! EM2WL is all about slow, habit based changes. And the first habit change is to build up your calories to match…
  • Gosh, @lisabee - I eat that for breakfast! I'm glad you've found a place that encourages you to eat, and nurture your body. Guess what? Nurturing your body nurtures your soul too.
  • Just have cake! When you allow yourself to eat what you crave, you take the binge power out of the food. That's the beauty of eating lots of calories - you can work the yummy treats into your day, so the craving doesn't grow into a huge monster. And just move on from a big calorie day. It won't matter in the long run. If…
  • It sounds like aquarobics. If it is, it's fun! I've been meaning to go back to it as it's good for my knees. Thanks for the reminder! I'll have to see if they are still running it!!
  • I reckon you're doing it perfectly! Don't worry about the lack of scale movement when the other measurements are moving in a positive direction. You might experience a "woosh" when it just decides to release from your body. Or maybe drop calories further down the track. I remember reading somewhere that it might even take…
  • Gosh MaryAnn, What a crappy day! I'm amazed at how upbeat you are about it - maybe one positive outcome from your condition is that you have high resilience? I'm glad the pain is decreasing and hope you can get back into the beading today. It sounds like it's a form of therapy for you. Maybe you should open an Etsy page…
  • Gosh, you're a very active person. It's criminal how low we have been led to believe we should eat to lose weight. This is a long slow process, but it's worth it to get your life back. Welcome!
  • Wow, it's so lovely to read your excitement about here and now and the future. I've read in other EM2WL parts of the Internet that it might be a good idea to start the cut on 10%, see what happens for a month or so and the increase to 15% if there's no movement... it kinda gives you wiggle room. Are you on Facebook?…

  • All the cool kids hang out there! :p
  • Hi there, I know how you're feeling - I've wondered the same thing myself. I've been following this approach since October and am now approximately 93kg (204lb) at 5"2'. While finding TDEE, I gained a little bit, and I'm now resetting. Every day I fight the urge to cut calories. I've been resetting for about 3 weeks, I…
  • Wow, what a gorgeous dress. You look fabulous. I bet you had a wonderful time with your family and friends. It's great to see how you've progressed over the last few months (which would surely have been stressful as the big day came up) and have remained fit and slim. Congratulations!
  • Hi Lynn, You are definitely "too under". You have eaten fewer calories than a 3 year old child requires! Please ignore the calorie recommendation that MFP gave you to aim for as it also does not provide enough calories to keep a child alive. Read this: http://pin.it/3rDH1tK to give you some idea of where and how to start.…
  • My wife tracked her steps for ages and found that she was taking 15000+ every day at work. She's done the same job for over 20 years. This is part of her body's NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis). It would be equivalent to your physicality as a massage therapist. To lose weight, she reduced calories and added…
  • Are you drinking water? As it's cold over there, I imagine it would be more difficult to chug it down. Have you had any medical tests to see if you are sensitive to foods or substances? Have you had children? Maybe you have that condition after child birth where the ab muscles are ripped and/or separated. (I can't remember…
  • As someone who had a disc removed because of unknown things, I'd recommend seeing a Dr and getting clearance to start. You really don't want to go through that.... I also had bad knees when I was doing stronglifts and now my knees are cactus. I have a double knee replacement ahead of me. Sorry to be a Debby-downer, but I'd…
  • Yes it would. Let go of the scale's judgement and trust your eyes and inner sensations. You are healing and your body needs the calories. If you cut now, you're just telling your body "welcome back to the roller coaster!" And it will hold on to every calorie with all its got! Just breathe, be thankful that you're healthy…
  • Just a possible tip... I think using phone or gadget emoticons stuffs up posts and you lose all the typing after the emoticon. If you want to have emoticons, select from the little happy face above the typing space.
  • Check out the EM2WL group - Eat More 2 Weigh Less. There's heaps of information about what you're experiencing. You're exercising too much for the number of calories you're consuming. There's a TDEE calculator at the top of the EM2WL group page, that I'd recommend you punch your details in and see if they are higher. And…
