I was shocked at how angry a few people I thought were friends got about my weight loss. I'm surprised at how small I've gotten and that I will get smaller before I am done. I've started to wonder how I'll find clothes at my goal weight, since it was really tough to find a business suit in size 6. I'm surprised at how…

I'm going for 115 to 120 at 5'4", because I want to run faster. I'm pretty happy with how I look at 135 and size 4, but I want to be faster and I do circus arts, so weighing less is an advantage.

Basically, focus on what works for YOU. If you're doing great on 1400 calories, then that's awesome! If you do start gaining, just cut back those calories!
-
I'm 5'4" with a small frame and ambitious running goals, so my current goal is 118.

Good luck! I'm glad you're committing to logging accurately! It really makes a huge difference!

If you're serious about losing weight, get a scale and measure ALL of your food. Log everything, including bites and tastes.

My lifelong crush. Weird Al. And I am dead serious. (But only if it were okay with his wife and my husband.)

I use a Brita filter and drink it at room temperature. Our tap water is heavily chlorinated and occasionally has a slight rainbow sheen on its surface. I don't really trust water that glimmers.

58 pounds in almost eight years. The slowness guarantees that these habits will stick with me forever. I have ramped it up a bit, though. I'd love to lose the last 20-some over the next two years.

Have you changed your target nutritional goals to reflect your weight loss? I'm not sure if MFP automatically takes your new weight into account when giving you your calorie goals.
-
You'll get there! There are girls 50 pounds + heavier than me who can lift themselves up! I started with almost zero upper body strength, so I'm still working on being able to life myself up with just my arms.

It took me a while to figure out how to do it.

I think you can do it. I was a pretty muscular 140, then had my son, lost the weight, thyroid went bad, gained 60 pounds. I've lost almost 55 pounds and now have MORE lean body mass and muscle than I did the last time I was at this weight. I'm even in a size smaller (I still have some of the same clothes, so it's not just…

I changed my eating habits at the end of 2006. Since then, I have steadily lost just a little over five pounds a year. Since I'm at an age where it's more common to gain a few pounds a year, I consider this a huge victory. I'm hoping to lose another 20-30 pounds in the next two to three years, so I've set MFP to a loss of…

I'm 5'4", 148 pounds, and size 8. Highest size was 18. I have no idea what size my goal weight will put me into. Edited to add: vanity sizing is so dumb. I have some 25-year-old jeans I use as a guide-- they're size 9 and they zip now.

I envy you! I always seem to move to right outside safe biking zones for grocery stores, at least, since I moved to the States.

It is indeed possible that two people with the same measurements will have different metabolisms. But just because my friend can eat 2500 calories a day and maintain her weight doesn't mean I can. Which is to say that if someone is dedicated to losing weight, it will take some experimentation to determine what the calorie…

This is a good question and in some ways, I think it comes down to food availability. We just have so much more food available now, especially high calorie, low nutrition, cheap junk food. There are more calories available to us. At the same time, we've zoned away our chances for accidental activity-- work is miles from…

I don't know if you're in the States, but if you are, I think some of it could be because we've lost any idea of what a healthy, reasonable weight is. People are already calling me skinny (in a good way) though I am still, technically, overweight. I'm also still almost 30 pounds from my goal. Once people get used to how…

How do you like your 305, mariababe81?

I'm still searching. So far, my standard Chipotle veggie bowl wasn't a good choice, pasta with meat sauce possibly contributed to a DNF due to getting sick, and I can't remember what I ate before my other two long races. I think before Green Bay I had Indian food. I can do regular long runs after just about anything in my…

In my neighborhood, there are several people who let their dogs roam free. I worry more when I'm running with my dog than when I'm alone, because I never know if those dogs are dog aggressive. It scares me, for my dog's sake. I simply don't understand people who can just let their dogs go. I have to know where mine are at…

Cococa, when you say tactile prompt, do you mean the shoes provided it or that you used another prompt in addition to the shoes? I'm still landing a little further back than I'd like.

I love my Newtons. I've been running in them for two years (mostly Distancia, but I also have a pair of Lady Isaacs and a pair of MV2s that I occasionally throw into the mix.) I'm very slow, but definitely noticed a slight increase in speed when I switched to them. I also noticed they don't press on the top of my foot and…

It depends on your reasons for being vegan. For me, it's pretty easy not to slip since I remind myself of how the food came to be. For someone eating a vegan diet for heath reasons, it might be more challenging. The times I do have cravings, I'll try out a vegan substitute, like Daiya cheese or various soys made into…

LOL, I'm vegan (and eat a lot of whole and raw) but that doesn't stop me from stuffing my face with french fries and tater tots when I want.
-
I generally try to eat clean, but really, I eat whatever I want. I just watch the portions and calories and try to burn more than I eat.

I'm north of Houston. Houston, surprisingly, has some nice all-vegan options for eating out, like green seed, and some veg-friendly places like the Hobbit Cafe.

I think too, if there's upheaval here or in the larger "fitness community," it's the fact that the current fad is paleo, so it's what everyone has hitched their wagons to as "what works," which means it becomes for them "the only thing that works." Which means that even with evidence in front of them that something else…
